Disney Hotel Union Agrees to Mediation

Disney healthcare costs have gone up a LOT in past years. The CMs' pay increases don't even cover half of the cost of the increases, especially for couples or families.

The cost of living in the central FL area has gone up a LOT in the past few years, as has cost of living. Disney pay...hasnt.

The biggest selling point for Disney on hiring people at a low wage ($7.85hour, just above minimum wage) was the cheap insurance. When you look at the fact that nearly all WDW CMs max out at $13 an hour or less (and that's after 10+ years), the $125 or so a week to cover a family with health insurance is a significant part of your paycheck.

You do realize this article refers to Disneyland in California and not Walt Disney World right...

1) This article is Disneyland, not WDW.
2) Employees at WDW already contribute to their health care plan.
3) Plus, there has not been an employee walk-out at WDW lately. *

* The last one attempted was (I think) seven years ago when bus drivers wanted to walk-out. The news got back to WDW and management had all the MEARS drivers report to WDW as fill-in. With drivers available, the WDW bus drivers never walked.
