Disney Honey Bees

We did the Behinds the Seeds tour today. My mom is a bee keeper and asked our tour guide, Zach (who did a great job!), if Disney had honey bees. He said they do but he wasn't sure where.....just curious if anyone would happen to know where the honey bees are......

I would have taken his answer to mean "we do have honey bees in this part of FL". And I could also see that he may have taken her question as meaning "in this part of FL" too.

Even with all the flowers I couldn't see Disney having their own hives of bees. It would take so many hives to produce enough honey for them to market that they may see it as a safety issue should the bees ever get mingled with guests. I'm sure they have all the bees they need naturally and don't need to add in more by hiving them.

But, I honestly know nothing about the behind the scenes stuff either. That is one of those things I would have never thought of. Would love to see someone chime in who actually knows. You have me curious now!

In California, beehives cannot be located in incorporated areas. It's probably the same in FL and with WDW being surrounded by communities, the hives wouldn't be located close-by, if at all. I've traveled on the county roads leading out of the MK cast area to the west and south of WDW property and have never seen beehives in that area as there aren't many orchards or crops located there. Hives would be located closer to orange groves.

CMs are trained never to say, "I don't know," and they especially aren't going to utter that statement during a tour.
