Disney @ Home pictures

Mikki,
The only thing cuter than Tinker Bell is a whole bunch of Tinker Bells. Bet your husband had fun collecting them all. I took some photos of a Tink drawing and a production cel (from TV not the movie) to post next to your Tink collection, but the USB port on my computer is acting up and I can't manage the download. Here are some shots of my Peter Pan Gallery (actually a rather narrow hallway) that include those Tinks but afraid you can't really see them. Know you collect cels so thought you might like to see my pride and joy, production cels from Peter Pan.

The "Gallery" The large Peter Pan poster once hung in the walkway under the Railroad Station at Disneyland. Next to it are the Tink pictures. Sorry!

Here are the cels as best I could shoot them with my little camera--and backing up as far as I could to get them. They were collected through the years by my late husband and all came from the Howard Lowery Gallery that for years was in Burbank, California not far from the Disney Studio gate. It's gone now. The last I knew Howard was still dealing in Disneyana and cels staging periodic auctions. I haven't bought a cel since Scott's been gone--really can't afford to!

From one end of the hall . . .

. . . and from the other.

Lovely Susan! I didn't know Howard Lowery galleries were no longer going - used to have wonderful auction catalogues. It will not surprise you that our only film original cels are all of a certain little kitten.....

Mikki,
You probably shouldn't play poker--I'm afraid you'd tip your hand. Nobody reading this has any doubt which little kitten you mean. I believe the little darling has been featured in your TRs as well as your contributions to this thread.

Howard Lowery Gallery closed about the time of the last California trip that Scott and I made. That would have been in 2000. As I said, I haven't participated in a Lowery Auction since (as we did for years via phone because home base is Tulsa, Oklahoma about 1500 miles from Burbank, California). I haven't really kept track of Howard, but know that he still does auctions. I have some friends who still participate in them. I just Googled Howard and found that he operates from an office in Glendale, CA. I know what you mean about his gorgeous catalogs. I miss them. They stopped coming years ago but I cherish the old ones I have--a collection in their own right. Did you get your Figaros from Howard?

She's a lovely Valentine's Day present, Natasha. Today's purchases are awfully nice, too--and a bargain to boot. Well done.

Mikki,
This is a personal question I know, so don't feel obligated to answer--Have you had the Figaro fixation for a long time? Do you have a count of how many you have? These two are darling. My cat Davy (Crock-cat) is sitting on my lap as I write this having looked at your kitty photos with me.

Oh dear! Long story sort of. With my name I was always associated with a certain mouse. When Andrew and I started going out we decided for some reason that he should be a cat. About 16 years ago I bought him a Figaro plush for Christmas (yes, that is the one that writes the TRs). Later we went to the opening of EuroDisney and they had another Figaro there. Andrew said he looked sad every time you put him back on the shelf so he ended up coming home with us. One thing led to another and today we are hoping to buy what will be the 20th different Figaro plush to live with us. We have several ornaments as well and all the pins we can find. Fortunately there are just not that many things of Figaro done so he is a relatively safe thing to collect!

Mikki, I'm convinced that what makes these things treasures for us are the stories and memories that go with them. Yours and Andrew's is a sweet story.

As to the difficulty of finding many Figaros--do I have a place for you to look! This may sound like a commercial, but I promise it's not. I'm sending you the link to a wonderful, all Disney shop in California, Fantasies Come True. http://www.fantasiescometrue.com There used to be a shop in West Hollywood, but now they sell online from their office in Studio City. They ship Internationally. They've done a wonderful job with their site making it easy to find a particular character. You'll see. I just checked a few categories and found Figaro (s). The owner/operators of Fantasies are very helpful if you e-mail them questions which I have done several times through the years--great Disney resource. Scott shopped in their store on Melrose, but unfortunately I never did. Even though my online orders to them have usually been from the "$20 and Under" category, they couldn't have been more gracious to me or more careful with the packing of each item if I'd spent a thousand dollars with them. Whether or not you ever buy from Fantasies Come True their site is a good one to bookmark for a quick search of what's available and what's the current value. The inventory range is incredible from McDonald's Happy Meal Disney premiums to exquisitely done high end Disney collectibles. I hope everybody who might read this takes a look at the Fantasies Come True site.
