Hi!

We are driving to WDW from Saratoga Springs, NY in November 2006. We break up the drive by stopping in Hilton Head. We are planning on staying at Disney HHI for one night on 11/24 (the day after Thanksgiving).

We're worried about dining options! After driving 16+ hours, the first thing we're going to want to do is have a meal, and the last thing we'll want to do is get back in the car and drive to a restaurant!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated! I heard they sometimes have an oyster roast--any truth to that? Is there any way to find out if they'll be having one the day after Thanksgiving?

THANKS!

There are several restaurants in easy walking distance of the resort, and many others that are within a mile of the resort, so you should have plenty of options close by. I am guessing, but Fridays and the Friday after Thanksgiving would not fit the normal schedule for when they might offer a special meal at the beach house (I don't think they ever do them at the resort itself, but I may be wrong).

I don't know about the food at HH, but I was just going to say that I hope you already have your room, because I have heard that the resort is full for the week of Thanksgiving. Maybe not on that Friday, because of the higher points, but I would be checking with member services if you haven't already done that.

Don't know if you are looking for anything special. We have been to HHI resort many times and often arrive after a drive from Boston. The resort does not have a restaurant(take-out at main pool area closes relatively early). Shelter Cove has many options, but not sure what the times are for the holiday weekend. I'm sure Guiseeppes at the shopping center would be open for pasta, pizza and sandwiches and Fuddruchers is also right there;there is a mexican place within walking distance from the resort and two seafood places (Scotts-we love this one and Kingfisher also good). The road from 95exit to the resort is full of quick serve chains(from BK to Crackerbarrel). Hilton Head Diner is open 24/7 and is 2 minutes from the resort-classic diner food. I don't know your taste. You can also hit the grocery store if your have a 1bdroom or higher and make your own.
