Just kidding...sort of. :rolleyes1 What is the deal with no closets in the Moderates? I "guess" I can understand the Values but POR? How could a closet with a door be so difficult to put in a hotel room? :confused3
Just curious if anyone has ever asked or even cared LOL!

I prefer a closet too but I guess that we'll just have to use the drawer space wisely. I don't like my stuff being out.

It's one of the benefits of deluxe.

The cheaper the room, the fewer extras you get. Even though Disney rooms are priced high, the mods are considered "moderate" as far as extras go.

Now, see, I'm the opposite. I'd rather have my stuff hanging up than in a drawer that the last guest stored their dirty underwear in until they went home. I don't feel my clothes are any more, or less, vulnerable hanging on an exposed rod vs. hanging in a closet.

I guess because I've worked in the travel industry for a long time, as well as other members of my family, we know that basically anything that isn't locked down is vulnerable - exposed or not. So I never consider a closet to be a secure place to hide things.

I think if they made the hanging area into a closet, there would be no way you could have more than one sink, and it's kind of nice to have two.

Without an actual closet, you have more room to move your elbows around. If the closet was enclosed it would feel pretty tight and wasted space that could be used for something else. Some folks use that open closet area for their pack n play for their baby to sleep.

Did you see the AoA room photos? They have a rod for hanging a few things attached to the drawers, not even a separate area for a closet-type thing. I figured that's what you were talking about in this post.

Well, I never use a closet wherever I travel. I keep my clothes in the suitcase in the order I will wear them:) My carry on suitcase, I place next to the one with clothes and put the clothes that I wear in there...So, I need no closet. Yep,you may think I am crazy, and maybe I am, but, that is what works for me..

It's funny that the "open closet" is the thing that turns me off the most about the moderates. It just seems like your clothes would almost be hanging in the sink!

I could never leave our things in the suitcase so I need closets and drawer space. That's one of the main reasons we stay in deluxes - although it looks like the new AOA has lots of drawer space.

:rotfl:

I never thought about it before. It's definitely easier to clean that area since housekeeping doesn't have to go around doors.

When I hang my things up at POR, you can't see it if you keep the curtain between the sinks and the room partway closed.

I don't do it for security but because it looks neater to me. If I have to live in a room for over a week I prefer not to see our stuff hanging.

I do wipe down the drawers with sanitary wipes before I put things away. It might only help a bit but it makes me feel better. ;)

I like unpacking. I bring wipes and wipe out the drawers before I use them.

The lack of a closet doesn't really bother me at the moderates. It would be nice, but not a deal breaker.
They prob could make that area with the hooks on the wall and bench into a closet.

Thanks for the responses. I just was curious. It seems like an odd thing to leave out yet give you a coffee maker and a fridge (Mods). Just me.

I have stayed at a moderate with four adults in one room and a deluxe studio with three adults in one room at SSR, and we actually felt we had more space in the moderate at POR.

One of them was the open closet space.

In the deluxe, they had all these extra pillows, linens, iron, ironing board, and the vacuum cleaner, so there wasn't as much hanging space left.

In the moderate, we used the entire closet area and also were able to add a hanging shoe caddy over the door to the bathroom to store extra little stuff.

We rather have a doorless closet. We hang a couple of closet organizers there for extra storage and so our DDs can have their own storage area for their stuff. They really enjoy that and a door would just be in the way.

You have to remember that when the moderates were built, they were actually the value resorts at WDW. The All Star Resorts were not opened until the mid-90's. When the CBR and Port Orleans resorts were opened, the rates were like $70 to $80 per night!!! Hard to believe that price today.
