Hello
Go to the Disney golf site
http://golfwdw.com, choose the date and time. You'll be able to see available players. If it shows 1, 2 or 3 available, you know there is at least 3, 2 or 1 people already booked. If 4 are available, there is no-one booked for that tee time.
Hcortesis, not necessarily. That's a good indication, but it doesn't guarantee anything. Toni, I would just call the pro shop at the golf course. That's the best way to do it. Let them know the situation and that you'd really like to pair your dad up with another group (twosome, threesome, etc), and they should be able to accommodate. If your dad is playing solo, as I typically do, this is what usually happens:
Most golf courses don't even take reservations for a single. They tell you to just show up and when you're ready to play, they try and pair you up. I get to the course at my own leisure and check in, telling the pro shop that I'd like to get out and play as a single. Sometimes they'll ask if I'd like to play alone or join a group. Other times the first words out of my mouth are "I'd like to get out, are there any groups available? I'd like to play with someone." They check their tee sheet and let me know what times are available. "I have a twosome going off in 15 minutes" or "another single is teeing off in an hour."
In this case, since you seem to be making the reservations for your dad, just ask the pro shop if they take single reservations. Tell them you'd rather he play with someone else, and see what they say. Worst case scenario he would need to show up at the course and roll the dice. If he's a golfer I'm
sure he's done this before!
There are 3 18-hole championship courses at WDW; do you know which one he wants to play or are you making arrangements for him? Are you staying on site?
Disney's Palm and Magnolia golf courses are located very close to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian hotels. If you're staying at one of those 2 your dad can just walk over (less than 5 minutes). The other course, Lake Buena Vista, is next to Saratoga Springs Hotel. Regardless of where you're staying, if you're at a Disney resort, the bell desk will be able to give your dad a "cab voucher" that will get him to the course free of charge. There's no Disney golf bus/shuttle system. At the pro shop for his return, just tell the guy what hotel he's going to.
My recommendation, for whatever it's worth, is play the Palm or the Magnolia.
