Do most shops & restaurants accept Disney gift cards? We use them a lot at WDW but not sure if that's the same in DLR. Also, do the restaurants in the the Downtown Disney area accept them too?

We had no problems using our gift cards anywhere in park or at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. I am afraid we didn't try it at the restaurant in DD though.

There aren't any Disney owned restaurants at DTD. But there are in the Disney owned hotels.

As others have said, you can use the Disney Gift Cards at any of the Disney-owned shops or dining locations in the parks at DTD. Within the parks, Ghiradelli's and the Arribas Brothers shops (those are the ones I've tried) did not accept Disney Gift Cards. They also can't be used for penny press machines, balloon sellers, or some of the walk-around vendors (all are cash only).

I am curious about the gift cards like from target and such, we are planning a year out, I always say I want to do things like WoC Dessert or F! Dining but end up not having the funds, but this time I want to make sure we do those things, would I save quiet a bit buying those cards with the discounts and using them to pay for those things? And if so how does one go about getting them and the discounts

If you have a Target Red Card you get a 5% discount on Disney Gift Cards, so you basically get 5% off anything you buy with them right from the start. Sam's Club also sells them but I think the discount there is slightly less than 5% (something like 4.8%) but still a good discount.

$100 Disney gift cards sell for $94.99 on BJs.com (you do NOT need to be a BJs member). And this quarter (ends at the end of June), if you've got a Discover card it's an additional 5% back at Warehouse Clubs. I've also gotten 1% back from Ebates when buying Disney GCs on BJs.com though it says gift cards are excluded so it's unclear if that happens consistently.

BJs also sells $25 and $50 Disney cards and a 3-pack of $50s but the $100 is the best deal aside from when there's a special offer.

Awesome!! Thanks so much!!

Also the Starbucks inside DL and DCA accept both Disney cards and Starbucks cards.

Inside the parks...anywhere that takes credit cards also takes Disney Gift Cards with the exception as noted Ghiradelli's and the Arribas Brothers shops and cash only roaming vendors. Almost all of the snack carts even take them.

True for all three resort hotels, shops and restaurants as well.

NOT true however for DTD except for Wold of Disney...Disney gift cards only accepted at Disney owned stores...although many of the DTD merchants DO offer AP discounts.

On site, you can use multiple cards for one payment but if booking something over the phone like WOC Dessert Party that requires payment I believe you can use a gift card but it has to be from one single form of payment...not several card to pay one big bill over the phone or online.
