Disney Gift Cards

We're thinking of suggesting Disney gift cards as Christmas presents for our daughters ahead of a trip planned for next year.
Reading the small print, it seems the Disney issued cards are not accepted everywhere within WDW.
Does anyone have any experience of how widely accepted they actually are?

I don't know the answer but just wanted to suggest something else if you find that they aren't as flexible as you first thought.
Disney dollars are accepted everywhere in Disney that you can spend actual dollars, and maybe they could be considered as a fun alternative.

Are you considering buying in the US in $'s? they can be used almost anywhere in WDW, Cruiseline & other places in 2nd link

Thanks all!

I was going to buy them direct from the WDW website so buy in $s on a £ credit card.

Am only thinking of $25 or $50 each so not planning on using these as the main spending money, just a way for the grandparents to give the children a few quid to spend while we're away.
