Disney Gift Card Deals

They shouldn’t be allowed to just pull them without any heads up.
Just read this... https://pointstoneverland.com/the-death-of-disney-gift-cards-at-best-buy/
Anyone else no longer able to buy Disney gift cards at B.B. at all (using another payment method besides B.B. gift cards)?
This just stinks...

I’m going to still try. Not many people at my store buy Disney gift cards. It seems like the stores having the problems are the ones where Disney gift cards sell out. After I buy my MacBook Air I’m done with Best Buy because of their practices.

I agree with the heads up but not the second sentence and totally get the third.

Exactly what happened to me except the variable load did work for me. But the $25 and $50 did not. That’s also probably why stores have been out of stock lately. I’ve been buying at BB for years and I’ve never seen them out of stock.
Guess I could still by gas cards for our trips with my BB certificates I’m getting from the cash star deal.
During the holidays my Best Buy could be out of specific gift cards for a month or more. What is stocked is solely at the discretion of the vendor. The store has no clue or ability to order more apparently. They say the vendor comes in and sees what they’re out of and maybe brings that the next time.

Even odds this is an IT glitch instead of a shutdown imho.

Yes they absolutely should. When you buy a Best Buy gift card you buy the ability to purchase anything Best Buy sells, not something specific. Want something specific? Buy that and not a Best Buy gift card.
You must have quoted the wrong person. So you skipped over the part where I said I was buying a MacBook Air from them? BB not selling Disney gift cards anymore is fine but for them to keep them on the shelf and refuse to sell them is not cool. I don’t support trash companies, athletes, or celebrities. Accusing people of money laundering and horrible customer service is not something to defend.

I have yet to see this at any of my locations in MI

EDIT: And for those that did have the sign at their locations the fine print on the right corner gave this indication.

There was a very small professional best buy looking notice slipped into the display at the top of my Best Buy (where maybe they usually have ads or something) that had this policy. Couldn't have been more than a couple inches tall and it was slipped into this border like area around the display. Ours has been there at least for a few weeks. My guess is this is due to gift card purchases with stolen credit cards. Maybe Best Buy has decided that they are fine being on the hook for up to $200/$600 total when processors come back to get the money from fraudulent transactions. $600 is far better than $1,500!

"The most likely reason that Best Buy is discontinuing the sale of Disney gift cards is because they were losing money."...
Disagree actually. Retailers sell this these because they get a bit of a markup on it otherwise they would not waste their floor space selling gift cards to OTHER locations. From what I've been able to find the retailer selling it makes anywhere from 1% to 10%. As for stacking promotions on them we are but a drop in the bucket, the fish they want are those who come in for Chase Pay and walk out with the TV. Maybe Disney has decided to cut back on what the discount they give the vendor and best buy so they are pulling Disney cards. Entirely possible, which would be a total bummer!

Anybody bought Disney at Walmart/Sam's Club lately with Walmart gift cards? I'm thinking that and Target are our final, consistently allowed, national level retailers at this point?

The QR codes earning us points towards free BB gift cards. @gottalovepluto you know I love you but hmm, like drinking... much? This had to be a huge hit for BB because they got nothing out of this deal. :P

I just had to go back to this... It was there how long? Did you post this juicy morsel here? Did I miss it? If it had appeared at my BB I most certainly would have taken a picture of it and posted it here. That could have given us the warning not to buy anymore BB GC's. I don't know... just thinking out loud.

No problems. Sam's Club online purchase is a bit lower cost than in-person in club.
How much of a discount are the Disney gc selling online at Sam's club? I'm trying to figure out whether it would be better to pay the new $10 fee for bj's online membership to buy them (4% + 2% cash back on visa) or get a Sam's club membership ($45) to buy them online (none local). The Sam's club website won't show the price unless you are a member. Tia! For reference, I am looking at buying $6300 worth.

Sams are $142.98 for $150 which is the better than the $500 price (484.98). This is online price. In store they are $144.98. There are many deals on Sams club memberships. I joined earlier this year when Amex had their promotion and I basically got it free!

I am hoping for everyone else's sake, that this is some weird glitch in my store only. I have done many of the SB BB QR codes before, with no problems. But the past 2 not working, when I am doing the same exact thing as before, is odd (and disappointing!).

My DD27 did two $50 gc's at BB with the qr codes a few weeks ago, well before the change, and the same thing happened. I posted here at the time but seems no one noticed it at that time or responded. Nothing on the receipt referencing SB and never got anything, they weren't posted as purchases at SB. Had done a number previously that went fine. And have done 6 last Friday paying with a cc and those all went fine. The Swagbucks connection is printed on each receipt and the SB 2% are posted as pending since Sunday morning. Hoping the 500 SB x 6 post today. Plan to do another $300 later today, our store out of gc's on Sunday, so DD26's husband will try near his work.

Friday evening I called probably 10 different BB in the western suburbs if Chicago. All says no gc purchase with gc. All says it just happened a few days ago, and that it was due to fraud and gc scammers, some days they ruined it for all. They all seemed pretty surprised and but happy and apologetic. When I asked why sine still could, they said it was rolling out to all BB eventually, and soon no store will be able to sell gc to gc. And the last guy, he says of course you can, its like money. I didn't get too excited, I figured he just didn't know. I said are you sure, it's a bit of a drive. I asked him to check and why, He was gone awhile and was shocked when he came back because I was right, and he was the only one at his store who didn't get the email but should have (sounded like a manager or something). He wasn't happy with the new policy or that he didn't get the email. Very apologetic. $90 in BB to use sometime now.
Anyway, that's my sad experience lol. Ugh. But, as another poster noted, the deal for 500 SB and the 2% is still good, and I can use my SB cashed out to Paypal or cc so at least at this point that's still good!
