Disney Gift Card Deals

How much of a discount are the Disney gc selling online at Sam's club? I'm trying to figure out whether it would be better to pay the new $10 fee for bj's online membership to buy them (4% + 2% cash back on visa) or get a Sam's club membership ($45) to buy them online (none local). The Sam's club website won't show the price unless you are a member. Tia! For reference, I am looking at buying $6300 worth.

Keep in mind that when you purchase the gift cards from BJs if you order more than $1000 they will make you sign for the package when it gets delivered. That was a problem for me, as I am never home when UPS comes and they won't let you sign the release for them, and I didn't know that until it was on its way. So when I do order them from BJs I order then in multiples of $500 and then they won't make you sign for the package.

My DD27 did two $50 gc's at BB with the qr codes a few weeks ago, well before the change, and the same thing happened. I posted here at the time but seems no one noticed it at that time or responded. Nothing on the receipt referencing SB and never got anything, they weren't posted as purchases at SB. Had done a number previously that went fine. And have done 6 last Friday paying with a cc and those all went fine. The Swagbucks connection is printed on each receipt and the SB 2% are posted as pending since Sunday morning. Hoping the 500 SB x 6 post today. Plan to do another $300 later today, our store out of gc's on Sunday, so DD26's husband will try near his work.

Friday evening I called probably 10 different BB in the western suburbs if Chicago. All says no gc purchase with gc. All says it just happened a few days ago, and that it was due to fraud and gc scammers, some days they ruined it for all. They all seemed pretty surprised and but happy and apologetic. When I asked why sine still could, they said it was rolling out to all BB eventually, and soon no store will be able to sell gc to gc. And the last guy, he says of course you can, its like money. I didn't get too excited, I figured he just didn't know. I said are you sure, it's a bit of a drive. I asked him to check and why, He was gone awhile and was shocked when he came back because I was right, and he was the only one at his store who didn't get the email but should have (sounded like a manager or something). He wasn't happy with the new policy or that he didn't get the email. Very apologetic. $90 in BB to use sometime now.
Anyway, that's my sad experience lol. Ugh. But, as another poster noted, the deal for 500 SB and the 2% is still good, and I can use my SB cashed out to Paypal or cc so at least at this point that's still good!

Good to know that it's rolling out and happening in phases. I'll make sure all our BB GCs are used up by tomorrow.

If the reason they're doing this is scammers I can't say I'm surprised. The poor people that fall for the IRS scam are asked to pay via iTunes gift card. And when I worked as a personal assistant we found that people would write down the numbers of american express gift cards and steal the funds once they were activated and you would be SOL. Some people just have to ruin it all.

The QR codes earning us points towards free BB gift cards. @gottalovepluto you know I love you but hmm, like drinking... much? This had to be a huge hit for BB because they got nothing out of this deal. :P
I love you too @FoxC63 :D alas I wasn’t drinking last night just obsessively researching and not getting much to show for it :) I googled up how much retailers make selling 3rd party gift cards to try to find some info and I talked to a fam member who assisted a school with gift card selling and asked how much of a cut they got (sold tons of 3rd party gift cards acquired via a vendor year round). I really wanted to learn more about the topic of selling other companies gift cards to understand how it works unfortunately they keep the information seriously under wraps. I found “it depends on the gift card” a few times and the range of 1-10% encompasses what I saw referenced. (Also made me think Target gets Disney at >5% off so they could be happy campers to run the volume of that gift card that they do.)

As for SB the theory is what they lose on me they make up on the margins of what they sell Bob & then profit on what they sell Jane. I’m just not convinced we’re as big a drop in the SB/BB bucket as we think we are.

I just had to go back to this... It was there how long? Did you post this juicy morsel here? Did I miss it? If it had appeared at my BB I most certainly would have taken a picture of it and posted it here. That could have given us the warning not to buy anymore BB GC's. I don't know... just thinking out loud.
I swear I didn’t think it was a big deal! I thought it was totally unrelated to gc to gc transactions & all I thought was “if Amex runs another 10% back up to 300 we have to buy 2 cards now but that’s NBD”. Seriously! Thought it was due to credit card fraud & we are only buying $50 worth these days so my brain turned off there

Ack!! I forgot to post my BB gc to gc dp! Success in Central CA Sat! ...I ended up with a $50 gift card after trading in an old laptop so I gave gc to gc a shot. Worked fine, cashier didn’t so much as bat an eye. I immediately took advantage of Smart & Final’s buy $50 get $10 grocery coupon and did it again. Did a couple more later in the day. (We’re out of Disney so I bought Hulu & fast food & Starbucks.) SB tracking showed on the receipt each time.

Stopped by Friday at local BB in central NJ. Girl remembered me and commented on how I was saving for my trip to WDW. There was a single $25 Disney GC. Tried to get it but when trying to pay with my $300 BB GC from the recent promo, it didn't work. Manager came over and they said they stopped working recently for some reason. They suggested to contact corporate.

Any electronics purchased at BB are always paid in full with a credit card so I get the extended warranty protection. So now, I'm stuck with $300. Use it for the occasional new bluray. Blows...

Sorry if this has been mentioned, then I missed it... but I noticed this morning that Top Cash Back is offering an extra 1% if you cash out to a Walmart GC and an extra 3% if you cash out to a Target GC. Thought it might help some here. Personally all of my shopping portal cash goes to the vacation fund, so I might be considering this.

Does anyone here happen to know what the fees are on the $50 and $100 Mastercards? are they the same as Visas?

I've been seeing those signs for a while I just figured it was standard cause other stores like Rite Aid have them... oops sorry folks....

Not off the top of my head I want to say it's something like $5

I see my Safeway account has coupons for $10 off 2 $50 mastercard gcs and $15 of 2 $100 gcs. I'm thinking about using my Discover, then taking the gift cards to my Kroger and buying Disney gift cards when they have a 4x points promo. So I'm paying around face value for the cards, but getting 600 points at Safeway, 1200 at Kroger, and then 5% back with Discover...

I’ve done this. This time I bought them for my spg spend and used them on dentist bill (he doesn’t take ax) and on utilities that doesn’t take ax.

What state do you live in that has Safeway and Kroger? We have Safeway in Colorado and in Michigan we have Kroger.

I bought the 2 $100 cards at Safeway in Arizona, unfortunately, no safeway rewards for the purchase, but they are 1.5% savings plus any credit card points. These might work at BB though for Disney GC, plus BB & SB rewards, that would be interesting, I might have to try that later today.

That would be interesting if they worked at Best Buy! I don't usually shop at Safeway because it's not as convenient for me, so I didn't know about the rewards.

Today (5/7) I went to Best Buy in Houston (specifically the Meyerland store.) I printed out my SB QR code and printed out my $25 BB GC. (Last time I tried this, it had issues scanning my phone.)

I bought a $50 Disney GC (not variable load) and a Darth Vader Hot Wheel for my son (LOL.) The cashier was super nice, scanned my QR code with no issues but hesitated when she say my BB GC. She was really confused for a moment, but then said, we're not supposed to buy a GC with a GC. I said, oh okay. Then she looked puzzled again for a minute and said, "Well you're getting something else, so I'll make an exception just this one time." Scanned it, the computer took it, and I got the $50 GC and toy for $33.65.

My SB QR code shows up on my receipt as well.

There was also a notice by each register about variable load cards being limited to $200 and a limit of 3 per type per person.

I also used my shopkick when I walked in and got 50 kicks (which they offer a Disney GC as a payout.) I was then able to drive around the shopping center and picked up another two stores.
