Disney Gift Card Deals

I wonder if chase freedom will do 5% at warehouse stores like they did last year for Q2?

Q2 is the current quarter and it's grocery stores. It remains to be seen with Q3 and Q4 will be. They used to outline them for the year, now they seem to be releasing about a month before.

There's a Kroger digital coupon this morning for no activation fee on a Visa or MC $100 gift card. Only good today and tomorrow. No 4x fuel points right now though unfortunately.

I am heading out later today to buy a $100 Visa using Chase Freedom (7.5% back when transferred to my CSR). Also, I had a coupon in my account that gives 2x fuel points for all purchases on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through August 6. Not 4x, but something.

Doing the math, and based on my usual 18 gallon fill-up, this is actually a better deal than 4x Fuel Points with the activation fee.

Best Buy is having another deal for gift cards.

Just curious, are you able to buy Best Buy gift cards using a Best Buy gift card? I've bought Disney using their gift cards, but never thought about buying Best Buy. Might be an easy way for me to combine a bunch of the $25 cards I have, plus make some extra funds.

I've never tried. I just take in all of my gift cards wether they are $5 or $50 and they don't mind scanning them all in order for me to purchase a Disney gift card with them.

Cannot do it online, I tried, there is only an option for credit card info, no gift card box like they have with a regular item purchase.

I was hoping that 2x coupon would work. No freedom for us, but I've got a workaround that still saves a few bucks overall. Every bit counts :)

Question: I thought I had read that you can get an extra % off if you purchase Disney GCs from BJs online? Is this still true? I hit up the website but couldn't really find the info. TIA for anyone's budget brain info :)

The price for the $100 gift card is $95, if you have a discover card you can also take advantage of 5% cashback as this quarter their bonus category is warehouse stores.

I noticed during a morning Target run today that another one of my nearby stores put up a sign saying No Gift Card activations at self-checkout. Seems to be spreading in my area.

P.S. Given how really good Target gift card deals are hard to come by these days, it's not a big deal for me.

Safeway in the Portland area is offering $10 off $50 or more of select gift cards, including MasterCard. They did something similar a few weeks ago but it was a coupon for $10 off a future shopping trip of $25 or more. Now it's a straight discount of $10 off the price, which is better. There is a limit to one per transaction, but no limit to the number of transactions. I purchased 10 of the $50 MC gift card last time and used them at BJ's to purchase $50 Disney gift cards. Used my Amex BCP for 6% cash back which covered some of the $4.95 activation fee and went through Ebates when purchasing from BJ's. Ended up with a 20.5% savings.

Had a bit of trouble with my BJ's.com orders. Was ordering one $50 Disney GC at a time to use one $50 MC gift card, waited for it to ship and then placed the next order. Around the middle of April, after placing my fourth order, my orders started getting cancelled saying they were unable to verify my payment option. Tried again using different cards and even a couple of times with my Discover with no luck. Finally took a break from BJ's and used the next four GC's at Safeway to buy Disney GC. Not quite as much of a discount as BJ's but I did get fuel rewards. On Monday, I tried BJ's again and my last two orders went through just fine. Not sure what happened, but glad it's working again.

My local Safeway here in SF has signs up all over the gift card rack saying "cash only" for MC/Visa/Amex prepaid gift cards. I'll check around but I recall a few other stores in the area have the same policy. Otherwise, solid deal!

For awhile my Safeway limited customers to $200 in gift cards when paying with a credit card, and $2000 with a debit. There were signs posted above the gift card rack and an official memo about it at the resisters. Once they switched to the new terminals that accept the chipped cards the signs came down. I haven't tested the limits since then.

Plus any credit card rewards. I earned $2.70 cash back from using my Amex Blue Cash Preferred, bringing my total to $7.75 on the Safeway purchase. When I convert to Disney at BJ's it's another $2.01 off the price of the gift card plus $0.48 from Ebates. Total savings for me is $10.24.
