This makes me nervous! I just emailed claims.

ALL CLAIMS UNDER THE PURCHASE GUARANTEE MUST BE SUBMITTED BY EMAILING CLAIMS@CARDPOOL.COM WITHIN ONE HUNDRED (100) DAYS OF THE DATE YOU ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE GIFT CARD THAT IS SUBJECT TO THE CLAIM. YOU SHALL NOT, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, BE ELIGIBLE TO UTILIZE THE PURCHASE GUARANTEE FOR TRANSACTIONS EXCEEDING AN AGGREGATE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1000.00) DURING YOUR LIFETIME AS A CARDPOOL MEMBER. PURCHASE GUARANTEE PROGRAM DOES NOT APPLY TO ELECTRONIC GIFT CARDS OR MOBILE GIFT CARDS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THOSE PROGRAMS. CARDPOOL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO LIMIT OR DISCONTINUE THE PURCHASE GUARANTEE IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IF WE BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE ENGAGED IN FRAUD OR OTHER UNLAWFUL ACTIVITIES.

$1000 lifetime and does not apply to electronic? That's terrible. :( I think that's a general disclaimer to prevent them from getting abused by buyers draining cards and saying they didn't. I still think they'll side w you if you have a history w them and (hopefully) the seller has had previous claims against.

Take a deep breath and wait for their reply before you panic. Hard to do when there's so much hard-earned money at stake. I have a feeling that they will still side with you, but it may take a while for them to investigate your claim before they refund your money.

Okay, okay, I am so new at this and so confused.

I keep reading posts and getting more and more confused. Perhaps someone can help me.

If I am understanding this process right, you can get gift cards for target using your red card to get 5% off the purchase price, but I looked at target and it said gift cards were excluded? How does EBAY factor in? Can you use these disney gift cards for your reservation?

You cannot get 5% off of a Target GC or prepaid Visa/MC/AmEx GC if you use your REDCard for the purchase, but it works for other GCs.

Some people will purchase Target GCs on eBay for less than the face value. They then use that Target GC to pay for a purchase on the Target website and get an additional 5% discount by having their REDCard as the default form of payment (while actually paying with GCs).

You can pay for your Disney resort, package, tickets, restaurant bill, souvenirs or cruise with Disney GCs.

Thank you! That clarified everything for me!

I'm sorry this happened to you, but wait for Cardpool's response. I've gotten a Target electronic gift card (~$150 worth) from Cardpool that was inactive on receipt (but not drained after the sale). I filed a claim with Cardpool and they answered within a day and refunded me the purchase price within 2-3 days.

I've never sold a gift card on one of these reseller sites, but my understanding is that when you do, the seller clicks an agreement to not use the gift card code after they submit the code to the reseller and they relinquish all right and interest in the gift card amount. I believe the reseller sites require the seller's credit card to back the transaction, so that if the gift card is depleted in any amount, the reseller can charge the seller and reimburse the buyer.

Hope it all works out.

So can anyone answer, can you use disney gift cards to purchase disney cruise tickets?
You can use them to pay for your cruise reservation. Is that what you're asking?

If you plan to entirely pay for a cruise with GCs purchased using this method, please do yourself a favor and be cautious and slow with your buying practices. There was a recent poster who has been banned from making Target .com purchases due to what Target regards as suspicious activity on her part. It's a lifetime ban.

yes, so if i go to a store( like target or Bjs) and get a discounted disney gift card, can i use that to pay for my families cruise reservations? there is a website that sells giftcards at a discount and a popup comes up and says "these cards are to be used in retail stores ONLY, NOT for park entrance fee, cruise lines, resort stays, accommodations, in combination with an annual pass discount, transferring to other cards via Disney or anything else. These cards are explicitly for normal use in retail stores and refunds will not be available if they are purchased for anything, but the stated use."

You need Disney gift cards which list on the back where they can be used including dcl. Disney store gift cards won't work.

where do you find the best price for disney giftcards? i found this website, but this is the one that has that popup message: http://www.giftcardgranny.com/buy-gift-cards/disney-store/
That website will direct you to websites where gift cards are re-sold by people who don't want them. Giftcardgranny does not sell gift card itself.

And I don't buy Disney GCs on the resale market. Not a big enough discount on any of those sites to make it worth the risk, IMO.

There is no best choice. It varies greatly by location and your tolerance for risk. I would really spend the time and read some of the thread if you want to get into it, not just ask for the best path. There are many strategies discussed in here. Read it thru, at least the last 100 pages or so, and decide what stores are near you or what parts of it you might want to try. If you can't be bothered to read the thread, I would not expect meaningful replies.

so besides raise, where else are great places to purchase them
There are a number of reseller websites that people on here use. Raise, Cardpool, CardCash, giftcardzen. It really depends on where you feel comfortable buying. Read their FAQs and start small if you're leary of the process.

There's a difference between Disney Store gift cards (which can be used only at a Disney Store or disneystore.com) and Disney Gift Cards (which can be used at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Lines, Disney Stores, disneystore.com, Aulani and even to pay for Disney Vacation Club dues). Be very sure about which one you're buying.
