Target will have 10% off Target gift cards (up to $300 in gift cards and $30 max discount) on 12/20 only. Read will be in store and online (hope so!!). Gift cards will not be active until next day.

Will you also get the extra 5% off if you pay with your Target credit card? That would be awesome. :sunny:

You are not able to receive your red card discount on TARGET gift cards themselves, but you could get those gift cards and use them online and do the default payment trick to get an extra 5% off whatever else you would actually purchase with the gift cards.

And go through ebates for both puchases . . .

Great news! Not the 15% from BF I was hoping for but hey, it's something. Unfortunately, that is the day my family is celebrating Christmas. The plan (if it had been on BF) was to go in store to buy in cash numerous different transactions at different registers, since it can't be tracked the way it is online. I am wondering if we can get Target cards at the self-checkout. That would help a lot. I know most cards are name-your-own-price, but I am wondering if there are some $100s or $150s that can be purchased at self-checkout. I hate to do it, since I live the aforementioned hour away, but I may have to go first thing, and hopefully get back in time to prepare Christmas lunch. Craziness I tell you!

My understanding is it should be online also. However, until we see the ad, we won't know for sure. I know they had this same sale last year, but I had just gotten home from WDW on Dec 18th. I did not take advantage of the sale last year so not sure if it was online also or not. Maybe someone else knows??

Yes, it was both online and in stores.

I was able to get 2 $25 Disney GCs at my Target today, and the register prompted the $5 free GC. Happy about this, but was told I couldn't use my previous free Target GCs to make my purchase. Used my RedCard for 4.5% discount. Cashier didn't seem happy when I informed her that I could use the Target GC to purchase Disney GCs online.

I thought the sale last year for the $300 in target gift cards for 10% discount was on Black Friday? Were there two similar sales last year?

I stopped by the Everett, MA Target and bought what I could find, which was $250. I ended up with $25 in Target gift cards, so I'm calling that a win. I also picked up two $15 iTunes cards and got another $5 gift card.

Another Target restock - got $1,000 worth of $25s and my RED card was declined for too large a purchase (annoying), but the store gave me the 5% discount and I then got to use my cash back on my regular credit card. Target can decline me any old time!

I don't why our Target stores only had the $50 cards. But at least it was better than nothing.

No, I understand that. But, with there being a $300 household limit, doing it online can kind of limit the amount you can get. Even by doing a guest checkout thing, my guess would be there is SOME way of tracking it....whether by name or address or IP number or whatever. So, $300 is tops....MAYBE $600 if you could use another name and ship it to another address.

If you do it in store, and pay with cash, that opens up options. You can bring multiple people with you, go through a different checkout, maybe do self-checkout, and then once the store employees start catching on to you, you could move on to a different store. So, you could really load up on cards.

And, I know, I know, some of ya'll out there are saying, "But, that's breaking the rules. You are doing the wrong thiiiing." No, after how Target and their customer service team did me yesterday, I feel absolutely no guilt at all benefitting from this.

Just curious, anyone else get free coupons printed when they purchased their GCs at Target? I got 2 different ones. One is for $5 off of $100 or more and the other is for $8 off of $80 or more. Both expire in a week, and have exclusions including GCs, but will definitely help stretch the grocery bill for the month!

Do you get 5% in addition if you use your red card? Can you use Target gift cards to buy Target gift cards?

You will not get the 5% Redcard discount if purchasing Target gift cards. You can definitely use Target gift cards to buy Target gift cards online. I'm not sure about in store. I'd like to know also.

I have gotten these coupons in previous years but I did not get any this year and I've checked out at Target about 10 times in the last week (most of those trips were not gift cards lol!).

Great!

So, I have read the gift cards that you buy on this sale will not be active until the next day. Can Target actually have them not be active for that long?

Yep. It's so that you don't immediately then go buy another $300 in gift cards at 10% off with the $300 you just bought at 10% off and so forth and so forth.
