Just to make sure I understand best approach to the upcoming Target deal (save 10% on $300 in Target GCs):

- Can you buy Target GC's with Target GC's? (ie, should I stock up on discounted Target GC's ahead of time?)

- Assuming the deal is available online, can you get the the 5% red card savings on the purchase?

- What is to stop you from doing it online and in-store? Or going to multiple stores?

Yes, you can buy a Target gift card with a TArget gift card. I do it regularly.

You can't get 5% off the target gift card purchase online.

Nothing is to stop you as far as I know. I probably will only get one but I have Targets all around me so I could probably get a dozen pretty easily.

I will likely do one online using my banked Target GCs (all "free" from combining the $5 ones on the 2-for-$25 deal last week and other promotions), then one in-store using a rewards credit card. Or maybe 2 in different stores. I can afford to wait if the Disney GCs run out online because I have until August to pay off my trip. At this point, the GCs I will buy on this deal are mostly for food and souvenirs. And cocktails.

Time to gather up my free Target GC's to prep for this deal! I have $25 sitting in my Target app and just redeemed mPoints for another $5. I think I also have enough MyPoints for $25. I was trying to wait until I had enough MyPoints for $50 because it's a better deal points-wise, but I think I'd rather be able to take more off of this Target GC. With $55 in free Target GC's, I'll effectively pay $215 for a $300 GC, or about a 28% discount.

Really wish eBay would run 4x or 5x ebucks and/or GCM run Disney on sale or even just get some in stock! I need to get money from eBay into Target in preparation for this sale at Target. Anyone else anxiously watching for something??

Even if they did, I wouldn't plan on it arriving in time. My last GCM order just arrived today - 11 days after I ordered it.

Ugh, that is true...GCM takes forever...I could buy from an individual on eBay if the price were ok. I occasionally find one for under value but that is hard to find these days. I guess I just need to accept 2x fuel rewards or stalk Raise for a good discount. Considering I get 2x cc rewards back, then that and the fuel rewards is probably best.

I did it on Saturday, but just now logged into my account and you are right, the option is no longer there. This is not good.

That worked, thank you! The elimination of PIN creation and needing to use this little workaround definitely makes me nervous about the long-term future of combining cards.

Not good! One of my primary reasons for combining Target GCs is because I get digital GCs through rewards programs. I have always been able to enter, store and combine those GCs on the mobile app or the mobile website. There are no physical GCs to bring into the store so that they can combine them onto a single GC.

I also dislike how it makes it that much more possible for dishonest sellers on websites like Cardpool and Raise to spend the GC they just sold to you before you can move the funds to another GC.

I've done this online. I used 4 Target GCs to purchase 1 and received the GC in an email less than 30 minutes later. No worrying about physically going to the store!

I wasn't able to combine tonight (I got a Target card in the mail from my credit card points). I went to "edit" the current card, backed out of that and then the option was suddenly there and I was able to do it.

Thanks! I get a lot of $5 & $10 GC and at least this way I can combine 4 smaller ones for a bigger one online without going to a store.
