Disney Gift Card Deals

So,

I believe your logic is flawed in that you have GCM making money on selling gift cards on ebay (where they pay fees), but Target not making money selling gift cards on their own website. I would bet that Target is still making money on gift card sales, even with the 5% redcard discount and gift card payment method. Are they "losing" money? They are bringing in less than they could without the 5%, but they may well be making more in the long run from allowing the discount.

I don't think you're catching the logic here. If you make money on this. I.e. you personally end up with more money than you started, then one or more of the parties you're dealing with MUST be losing money. I made $X. You made $Y. A bunch of other people made money on it too. This money comes from somewhere. From Target. Target makes money only when you spend money. But you're not spending money, you're cycling gift cards thru their system, ending up with more value each time you do it. You (and I) are *not* welcome customers in doing this. Target loses money every time. We're okay w that cuz it's easy money for us, but the money does come from somewhere.

I cashed out the $600 I have today & will cash out my other $600 when they arrive. I'm not interested in losing my investment & will just wait to see what happens.

Yeah, I'm pretty conflicted on what to do, myself. I'd like to keep churning, but the value has dropped out of the cycle for me. Now it's all Ebates and Ebucks. Ebates aren't even guaranteed, since it's only the extra-item glitch that makes them work. I may cash out some.

I chickened out:o...

My goal is to take $1500 in gift cards on our October trip. With the uncertainty going around right now, I'm not completely panicking, but I would rather get the gift cards sooner vs. later. I only need $800 more and since I am sitting on $750 in eBay and $10 in Target, I could have done it if I had pulled the trigger last week:headache:. Now that the 5% discount is gone, I have to rethink my plan.

I decided to only buy $450 in Target cards. I will turn those into Disney cards as soon as I get them. That way, I will have $1100 towards my goal. If the doomsday predictions come to fruition and the ability to buy Disney gift cards using Target gift cards goes away, then I am only "stuck" with $300 in Target cards. I can still work on churning with the other $300:teacher:.

Anyone know how long it takes to get a GC from MyPoints? I'm looking for times on both eGC and physical to compare. I have enough for a $50 AMC or Landry's but thinking about holding out for a Target, WM or gas card.
I ordered a physical Target card from mypoints around 3 weeks ago and received it in just under a week.

I haven't decided what to do yet.
I'm at about 27% savings overall. I've got $550 in target of it earmarked for DLR tickets and another few hundred in target I've been using in turn around with target-eBay-target going up by $50 increments and gaining increased savings because of the 5% compounding itself. Since that's at least on hold I'm trying to decide if I want to cash out what I have to Disney and purchase eBay gc at the 5% when they have ebuck promos.

However, if I keep what I have and continue to churn it as ebucks promos come up, I can basically skim transactions to max out ebucks for the quarter without putting more into the oop investment. The only hitch would be if Target did ban gc for gc purchases which again is why this is all a roll of the dice. I'm guessing the second that happened the Internet would be abuzz. Granted I can make do with either in eBay or target gc's as an exit strategy in the event that happened. What I plan to do is figure out a base dollar amount to keep in the target/eBay cycle that maximizes promos between our 2 accounts within the max terms of eBay earnings/spending and as I increase over that amount automatically convert to Disney.

I saw someone put eBay removed to $5k gc purchase max every 6months? So now it's only the $1k per day per account and $500ebucks per quarter earning limits? If so that's great.

I keep second guessing my decision. If eBay puts out a good promo before my other target cards arrive I will probably do another churn. I have until November. I don't know why I worry. I would use Target or Ebay cards if I was stuck with them very easily.

I just went to buy another Ghirardelli gc on eBay to give as a present and it went to an error code saying my paypal couldn't be used ($20 transaction using an eBay gc) and won't even let me get to the checkout screen. It prompted me to call PayPal which I did only to be told it's a security module and they have no idea when I can use my paypal again? Anyone have this happen?

What I find very weird is I even switched PayPal accounts linked to our other one and it's STILL showing that.

I ordered 3-$200 eBay gift cards from target, I did not get 5%off BUT I did get them so I'm ready for an ebucks deal

deciding how to turn my target cards online or in store..... are we still earning money through ebates on target orders with another item even without an addition 5% off???

That happened to me last week. Some fraud detection flag apparently went off. Paypal tried to clear it, but ebay still gave me issues. Ultimately, I unhooked the 'default' Paypal account linked to my ebay account and was able to order.

I know I asked this a few months ago, but I don't think it was answered....
at the register in store (Target) when you insert your red card into the machine, it reflects the discounted price, but then it asks if you want it all on the redcard. If you select no and also use another form of payment (ie target GC) do you still get the discount?
Has anyone tried this? I just wonder if it's a work around...

I unlinked my default account. Tried it with our other one. Same thing. Tried to leave account unlinked and still same thing. It won't even let me get to the checkout page. Happens right after I hit proceed to checkout from main screen. They can't clear it on pay pals side and I'm guessing eBay can't either. I'll be inifinitely annoyed if there's a promo and in locked out.

Wow GCM is on the ball today. Got my shipment notification in less than 2 hrs. Looks like they may be here in time if an ebucks promo drops next week.

You only get the 5% off on the portion that is going on the Red Card. For example, if your total is $100 and you choose to put $50 on your red card and $50 on your visa card, your red card will be debited $47.50 and your visa $50.

Have you tried clearing your cookies/browsing history? It's annoying to have to retype everything, but if it helps, you won't mind. (If it doesn't help, it doesn't hurt either;)

Thanks! I wasn't sure because at this point in the transaction, the full discount is reflected. Thanks!

(Rant)

For what it's worth...it's bad enough reading posts from people asking the same question over and over without seeming to bother with reading the thread but on the other hand I can understand why someone wouldn't...there's just way too much clutter from posts rambling on with speculation about Target right now or giving us an hourly or daily update that they converted/churned some cards as well as other things they might do during the day. There are wayyy too many topics going on here inside of the Gift Card topic. I can't help but think it needs it's own sub-board if this is going to continue but I'm not convinced based on what I've read here that people would be willing to do that. That would require possibly reading more than one thread and I think those who seem to have a lot of time on their hands like dropping into one thread and reading everything. If you have separate threads for eBay, Target, GameStop, and whoever else some of this craziness would end though. I know some of you including myself are on here quite often but continuing down this path is likely to just drive people away from here...good people who have good knowledge to share. Some simply don't care about GameStop, kmart, or gas cans so it would be nice if we could somehow trim some of this away or relocate some of it so it's a bit more ala carte.

Whatever the case it's not my intention to make anyone feel bad or embarrass them but the signal to noise ratio is just getting more and more off the charts here and it's just going to lead to more people asking the same question over and over and over again.

(End of rant)
