Disney Gift Card Deals

Since I don't have a trip coming up soon, I'll just wait it out and see what happens with the whole 5% discount not coming off right now. Not getting too upset either way though. Like others have said, the process will still work for me as long as I have the ability to buy gift cards with gift cards. That's the real benefit to me. The 5% is an added bonus (which I used to think was the point of all of this), but I've found swagbucks and ebucks promotions is where I really get the bulk of my savings. If ebay happens to run a promo in the coming week, I'll convert my swagbucks Target cards into ebay without the 5% to ensure I can take advantage of the ebucks. I also agree this would make me feel better about going in-store to convert my Target cards so as not to run so much through my online account and risk banning since there would no longer be a benefit to ordering all cards online. Hoping this is just part of some website maintenance or something and it will revert back in the end, but again, this change is not a deal breaker for me.

I just chatted with a Target rep through my husband's Target account (we don't use it for churning). They said it's a technical glitch regarding the 5% discount with the REDcard. He said it has already been reported to the technical team and will be solved as soon as possible.
That goes with what happened to me yesterday, when a Target rep said that he would take 5% off for a GC in my order after it was complete - but for a card that was not listed as a specialty card. We'll have to see whether specialty GCs are included in the fix.

Well we know specialty cards still get the 5% in store so to change it online would be inconsistent.

The cashier was probably unwilling to do it for you. You can try again with a different cashier or a different location.

Yesterday I was able to purchase $400.00 eBay GC with my Target GC, loaded into my Target App. Luckily my local Target has $200.00 eBay value GC and also self checkout machines. Same Target location that I once had a cashier turn me down, but their system/self checkout allows me.

Interestingly, my Kohls will *not* allow kohls card payment with a Kohls gift card. They used to, but stopped last year. I also tried another Kohls, and it was a no-go. Mucho sadness.

Also, Kohl's told me that I could not pay my credit card bill with a Kohl's gift card.

Full disclosure....I've never had a Kohl's card myself...but both my mother and my sister said that they have used gift cards to pay their Kohl's charge card. I have no idea if they still do, but I know they have done it in the past.

I wish our Target had self checkout! Are they mainly the super targets?

The Target I use does not label itself as a Super Target, but has self checkout.

Ours too. We have several Super Targets and none of them have self checkouts. The one that does is a regular Target with a small grocery section (no produce, deli, bakery sections).

I honestly think all of this is too inconsistent not to be a glitch. If they want to stop the RC discount when paying with a gift card, then why not make it for all items instead of just GCs? If they wanted to stop GCs for GCs, why not change the in store system too? If they wanted to stop the RC discount on any gift cards, why not change it online and in store at the same time?

Unfortunately for me, I need to have everything converted in the next couple of weeks, so I'm getting pretty anxious with all of this uncertainty.

Luckily I have converted just about all I needed-and that was tough over the last couple of weeks! Since I have been doing it with the $50 Disney gift cards. Our trip money is due 5/9. I have converted all but $300. I will probably just pay the final $300 out of pocket and hold onto my target cards to use and hope the glitch gets fixed.

I received my last order on Friday. I have been a nervous Nellie since the $150 cards have been out of stock. Hopefully all goes back to normal. I also plan on going in store for the the majority of my eBay cards going forward. I will try and do some online if possible in the future.

What a ride this has been! You gotta be strong to see this stuff through!

Me too. I have a trip May 18th. Worse case scenario I cash in the Target portion of my churning pot in store and just lose the 5%.

That's when we leave. We check in on 5/20 (looong drive). That is my plan as well, but I'm staring to wonder if I should cash the rest of my eBay in now and not try to wait for an ebucks promo in case "the worst" (no more GCs for GCs) should happen. I'm trying to keep myself calm and away from eBay, because I don't want to convert the day before a deal, like I did last week

I have done pretty well, up to 40% profit now, I just don't want to make the wrong move during this last stretch ;)

Bought Gamestop e-gcs through Shopathome $5 off $150 + 1.5%. Then went to Gamestop. I didn't do it for the $12.50 I made but because I had the Ebay gc balance linked to a dud Ebay acct that most likely won't get ebucks offer.
Also went to Target store and bought $50 Ebay gc w/ Target cc for 5% off.

So I went to 3 HEBs tonight and got the deal at all three. Needed override for all three transactions - just pointed out that the first thing on the back of the Disney card is for theme park tickets. It worked at 183 & Braker, 183 & Spicewood Springs, and 1825 & 685. I purchased 2 cards for $25 each at the first location and got a $20 HEB card. I used 5 coupons at the second location -10 cards at $25 each (spent $250 on Disney gift cards and received $100 in HEB gift cards). At the third location, they didn't know what they were doing and gave me $100 off my purchase instead of the HEB gift cards so I spent $150 on $250 in Disney gift cards. Plus 5% on my cc. Going to try to hit up a few places again tomorrow. The one store mentioned there was a limit to the number of gift cards someone could purchase in one transaction but they did not know what it limit was. Also, not all stores had the coupon so I grabbed extras from other stores. Thank goodness I can combine all the $25 Disney gift cards!

A little follow-up on the HEB coupon deal:

We went to a Houston area HEB (I-45 & Sawdust in The Woodlands) this afternoon, where we found the coupon and Disney cards in stock. When we tried to use the coupon at the register, the cashier called over the manager because it "wasn't working". The manager told me that Disney gift cards were NOT eligible for the coupon because they could be used at places other than Theme Parks. When I pointed out that the first item on the back of the gift card was Theme Parks, he still refused. So no great deal on gift cards for us. :(

We also checked the HEB at Market Street in The Woodlands, but they didn't have any coupons or Disney Gift cards at all. I may try a few more HEBs tomorrow, depending on the weather.

Hope others are having better luck that we did!

Another data point . . . I received the $25 statement credit as well on a Staples egift purchase (Target card). To clarify - this is not just the Amex email (Congrats - you used your Amex offer), but the actual $25 credit posted to my account. Good news!

Jodie
Me too.

I tried a couple stores and had a similar experience. The coupons were all in from of a "new" display of Six Flags ticket cards. It seems pretty clear that it wasn't intended to work on Disney, so I'm not planning to try to argue about it with a manager.

Yes I agree that I don't think the HEB coupon is intended for Disney GC. I figure the worst that happens is they tell me no.

Yesterday was hit or miss depending where I was and the time of day. My husband had zero success during the day but I was successful at multiple HEBs later in the evening (9-11 pm). I even had one manager tell me she was planning to do the deal too. I told her I would see her again tomorrow.

Another manager told me that there is a "glitch" in the system and they have a help ticket trying to get it resolved - hopefully today and told me to call and see if it is fixed.
