Disney Gift Card Deals

I tried to use my target gift card (that I bought from Stapels with my Amex for the $25 credit) and was told I couldn't use the target gift card for a Disney gift card

I was told this is on the 19th by a CSR, however a cashier was willing to do it, and I was also able to use the self checkouts to do it the day before that. I think it just depends on the cashier and is not necessarily a new policy.

I bought a disney gift card with multiple small amount of target 5 dollar gift cards last night with no problem. The cashier wasn't sure if I could or not, so she tried and it worked.

Ok I'm going to try again. I didn't really push back maybe I'll try self checkout

I just checked out the Target website and it appears to have been completely redesigned. From what I see, you can no longer order physical gift cards (Disney, eBay, Southwest, etc) online. On top of that, there is NO discount on any of the e-mailed gift cards (eBay, Southwest, etc) either.

This means that if you want to save 5% on your DISNEY gift cards, you have to go to the store and pay for them WITH YOUR RED CARD, not with gift cards. This really sucks for those who do not live anywhere near a Target because they now have no way to get the Disney gift cards AT ALL:headache:.

Fortunately, for now, you can still go to the store and buy the Disney gift cards using Target gift cards, but who knows how long that will last. Since Target.com only allows 4 gift cards per order, and Target loves to give away $5 and $10 gift cards with purchase, it seems like you MUST use gift cards to buy a larger gift card as that is the only way to combine them. Hopefully, this policy does not change and we can still see a substantial savings by using free gift cards (Swagbucks, Perk, FWP, etc) to turn into Disney gift cards:thumbsup2.

If we lose the ability to buy entertainment cards using Target gift cards, I will no longer have a reason to shop at Target. I buy my groceries next door at Meijer and I can get all of my other household goods across the street at Wal-Mart. The RedCard discount on the gift cards is what kept me coming back! Now, if they would allow me to pay my Red Card with Target gift cards (like Kohl's does!)...THEN I would be a very happy customer:cheer2:.

I don't think the web site was redesigned it looks exactly the same. As far as the disney cards go, the $100 ran out over a month ago, the $50 ran out the other day. A lot of people seem to think they will be back in stock soon, but who knows.

I agree, the website does look somewhat different. I will still shop at target and will use my target gift cards for things I would have bought anyways, so I won't be "stuck" with them. Although, I prefer and hope to keep churning. In the meantime, I am going to try and buy some Disney gift cards this week while I still can (in case that changes in store too).

I did check it online and no, there is no credit to the account. I have the email but the statement closed on 4/22 with the full amount owed. But
@MarlaSingersLaundry is correct that the fine print says that the statement credit will occur "within 90 days after 6/19/16". I find it to be odd, given the wording, that people are seeing a credit on their accounts already, while I may have to wait until mid-September to see mine!?

I just checked mine and it is exactly like yours. Closed on the 22nd and no credit but full amount charged. I also bought a physical ebay card and received the e-mail.

Interesting that it looks different. But, there were similar issues this time last year and all was fine. So, don't worry too much yet. I also won't have a reason to shop at Target if you can't buy entertainment cards with Target cards.

Interestingly, my Kohls will *not* allow kohls card payment with a Kohls gift card. They used to, but stopped last year. I also tried another Kohls, and it was a no-go. Mucho sadness.

Same here. No interest in shopping at Target if I can't buy entertainment cards with Target gift cards.
Also, Kohl's told me that I could not pay my credit card bill with a Kohl's gift card.

I see that eBay eGCs are still available online and that you can use GCs to pay for them, but I'm not getting 5% off with my Red Card whether or not I'm using GCs to pay.

While I'm still waiting to see how this shakes out, as long as Target sells eBay and Disney GCs and accepts GCs as payment for GCs, this is still viable to me as long as I have time to plan (churn) because of the eBay Bucks and potentially Ebates. But I suppose it could kill the process for someone with a trip next month who plans to use some discounted GC site to combine with their Red Card discount for Disney cards.

If the Red Card + GC loophole has been closed online, it gives me less incentive to shop online (I suppose for the Ebates) and thereby run so much volume through the site, and instead just go in store to convert Target back to eBay. The sheer volume you need to run through Target to max out eBucks for two accounts per quarter is kind of staggering and had me worried enough that I was already thinking of foregoing the 5% discount from target .com and buying more eBay cards from either GS or a physical Target store.

I agree. As long as we can purchase GCs with Target GCs, the process still works. We've always cautioned others that any part of this deal could be removed and it was important not to tie up your vacation money without understanding the impact it would have. It's the main reason why I have not jumped on the GS churn. I have no need for those GCs and I didn't want to get stuck with them.

I have always had an "exit strategy" in the event that Target pulled the rug out from under us. But, I have a number of Target store near me and I'm there at least once a week. I'm still hoping that the website issue is just a glitch from their recent update. But if it is permanent, I'll just sigh a heavy sigh and move on with other ways to save.

FYI, I looked back at the thread last year and this is the summary of what went on. Last year Target stopped the 5% online (both GC and Target Redcard) on April 3rd. Someone posted on April 17th that it was back again. So, it took 2 weeks to resolve. In that time period people weren't getting 5% off on Redcard purchases online, but were able to get them in-store. When they fixed it on April 17, both GC and Redcard were able to receive the 5% off online.

Would you share your exit strategy thoughts?
I will basically be purchasing the dogs' treats, cleaning products, some groceries and pretty much anything that they sell that I would normally buy. Then I'll pay with my Target GCs instead of buying those items elsewhere. If I can order online for store pickup (so that I'm not going any further into the store than Customer Service or curbside and won't be tempted to overspend), then I'll do it that way. As an added bonus, I'll save time and possibly get something from Ebates.

Then I will take the money that I would have spent on those everyday items and put it in my savings account. The money is already allocated in our budget for those purchases, so I'll just be shifting the payment process around so that cash ends up in my Disney Fund instead of GCs. The cash could then be used to purchase eBay GCs anywhere that I can get them at a discount, and then buy Target GCs from GCM during an eBucks bonus and continue the churning process that way.

Just received Staples email. Says Free $20 ePromo card with purchase of $100 Staples egc. Lots of fine print and sold by cashstar.

Just bought a $50 Disney gift card in store with target gift cards. No issue.

This is what's weird and makes me think it's a glitch. If Target closed the loophole to remove an inconsistency that allows a Red Card customer to get 5% off the entire purchase when paying with a GC and not just a discount on what is charged to the Red Card, they've created a new inconsistency where customers in store can still get 5% off GCs when paying with their Red Card but online customers don't get the discount at all.

There are some physical gc's on the website still. I saw Applebee's and outback to name two. The 5% is not coming off those either which makes no sense since we know you can walk into the store and get the 5% paying with red card. So it's still very possibly a website glitch.
