About 5 weeks ago is when we made this purchase. We had no problems. When we went to check out we asked if there was a limit and were told that with the debit card it goes by bank balance and there is no limit. I don't know what to tell you. I hope you have a great trip and everything works out for you.

Interesting since we got the complete opposite experience not only for the store, mangers, guest services, guest services hotline, red card hotline etc
Even pulled up our bank details from online banking which showed our bank balance ..way higher than what we were attempting to purchase.

Though it could have just been the purchase amount that triggers a different response

From the preponderance of posts about the debit, the employee was wrong.

Especially at the beginning of having a red debit, they limit you. As you use it the limit changes. Your limit is higher. The other poster's is not.

Hello- I just wanted to say that I applied for the target red card (debit) after reading about the discount on here maybe 5 or 6 weeks ago. When my card came in the mail, the first thing I did was call the number on the back and ask them if I had a limit That I could spend? the lady I spoke with said no as long as I had funds in the bank I could spend what I wanted. so I went to target and purchased a total of 30 Disney cards at one time total being - $1425.00 and had no problems .

I'm glad that you had the same positive experience that I did. I have had my red debit card since last fall, but I was told that it didn't matter how long I had it related to what my limit is because it is based on money in the bank.

You know what would be nice??? We have a couple of cruises booked through Costco (solely due to the huge cash card they give). Normally, I call in my gift cards to them little by little (Costco in turn calls them in to DCL). I wonder if Costco could just call in the DVA number? Would sure be easier than calling in all those gift cards + on a 5K cruise, the bonus would be $100. Something else to figure out.

I like the DVA idea. I use ing right now but it have a tendency to "borrow" from it. Right now our cruise is in 2015 and booked with dreams unlimited, who is a TA.

I think this is a lot like the Costco question. How does a TA use my account to pay the bill?

My TA tried calling back several times hoping she was just having bad luck with CM roulette. After speaking with a couple managers who each tried everything they could think of, we finally accepted that I could not pay using a DVA through a TA. It's some kind of legal issue with the DVA being a bank account therefore a 3rd party (the TA) is not legally allowed to use the account as the payment but since I went through a TA I was unable to do anything with my vacation account so I was just unable to use DVA. I had to get my 24 gift cards refunded.

I've since read of somebody whose TA was able to set up a 3 way call between the guest, the TA, and Disney Travel Company in order to authorize the payment but I've only read of one person being able to do this. I won't waste my time trying it out but if somebody else wants to then I would imagine it's the only way to get it to work when using a TA.

I think it depends on the bank to be honest. I know with US Bank we had a $500 limit on us for quite awhile.. still not sure if it was Target or my bank, but we did try and could not do more than that, although we can now over a year later now that we have a track record. We ALWAYS had more than enough in the bank, so that was not the issue.

FYI - Just got an email that Cardpool is having a sale on Walmart gift cards for 24 hours - 4.5% off. You can take them to Sams and buy your discount Dis gift cards . . . 4.5% + 4.68% Sams discount = total discount of 9.18%.

Looks good on the surface, but has anyone ever used cardpool successfully?
I pulled up some pretty nasty reviews!!!

I've used Cardpool several times successfully in the past, both to sell unwanted gift cards and to purchase gift cards that I have then used. My parents also purchased a couple of large dollar value gift cards from them that then turned out to have $0 balances. They contacted Cardpool and were able to get a full refund back on their credit cards within 5 business days. Overall, I would recommend them.

For anyone who lives near a Giant Eagle, don't forget that they are about to run their double fuelperks on all gift cards deal pretty soon in relation to Mother's Day / Father's Day / Graduation. It takes a bit of effort since the money you save is what you get in free gas, but it can definitely be worth it! I go thru about 15 gallons of gas per week and with all the gift cards I purchased around Black Friday last year (not just Disney) I didn't pay for gas from December through February.

If you purchase without a Giant Eagle credit card, but with the double fuel perks you'll save 12% on the cost of the gift cards. With the Giant Eagle CC that bumps the savings to 14.4%. All of this assumes that you get the maximum amount of gas each time you fill up, which is a pain but for savings like that it is totally worth it!

I've purchased cards from them in the past, and I haven't had any problems.

Other Grocery Store Deals:

Kroger is running their 4x Fuel Points promotion on all gift cards until April 22. The next 4X FP promo will be around Father's Day.

I went to Target last week with my new Target Debit card and a 5% pharmacy card I got off ebay. I took $8,000.00 worth of Disney cards to the service desk and rang them up. The pharmacy card no longer worked, but the associate typed in the discount manually. After much confusion on a debit limit I was told didn't exist, my own banks $5,000 limit and handing over $2,000 in cash they let me do it all with the 5% pharmacy discount and 5% red card discount stacked together. Great service from the associate for pushing through the discounts.

I'm very glad you got your discount, but these inconsistencies drive me crazy. Either give the discount or don't, this likely won't work for the next person! :confused3

Has any one used a 10% on any purchase at target on the GCs, I know it says no GCs, but when you use the target card that doesn't take off for the purchase of a target Giftcards, so why are the disney ones different? TIA.

Does buying Disney GCs on the Target site with your Target card work the same way as buying in store as far as the discount?

These coupons did not work on gift cards last fall but I haven't tried it recently.
