Disney Gift Card Deals

I'm going to try this.

I tried again this morning with 2x200 and 1x100, but the order was canceled again. Three canceled orders now! My order for just our shopping list items went through last night, though. Strangely, I received Ebates for all of the canceled orders (which I expect will be corrected eventually.)

Although I've read about other people having issues with the $200 cards, I've never had problems until last night.

Canceled again!

I wonder why Costco doesn't get blocked?? Lots of people (including myself) use them to book cruises for the huge cash card. I know, I know, getting off topic again . . .

Also, Groupon usually has a high rebate % on portal sites. If you take advantage of the deal, take advantage of using a portal!

Thanks for the reminder. I would have surely forgotten. Didn't have the Target gc deal, but they had a fantastic deal on Busch Gardens tickets that I grabbed!

Canceled again!
It might be time to quit before they flag your account for suspicious activity. I know that last Christmas, I could not take advantage of the AmEx deal to order a Visa/MC GC on Walmart no matter which CC I used or what computer I logged in from. Every single order got canceled.

First let me say that I appreciate this well written explanation as I too have been wondering how this all works.

Second let me say that I'll just skip a meal of dining out or something to make up for the $25-$30 I could have gotten/saved by doing all this. Wow. That is an amazing feat for those of you who do it.

Honestly, I wonder if its more the mental aspect of "I did this and saved money", which gives a gratifying feeling, than it is about actually saving the $.
It is the gratifying feeling that I am saving thousands on my vacation that is allowing me to take multiple vacations.
I started with buying $4200 in Target cards in December at 10% from target during their holiday promotion. I spent $3,780. I had $1,800 in DVC fees in January to pay, airfare, and food and spending money. This money alone would be very tight to make it work.
It was at this time I learned about churning. I jumped in head first. So far I have paid:
1,800 in DVC Maint Fees
600 in Southwest RT airfare for 2 adults
1,500 in Disney GCs for food and spending money for my trip in April
2,000 in Target/Ebay cards to continue churning for my Sept trip.

I expect to have by september
1,500 in Disney GCs for my September trip
1,000+ in Target/Ebay GCs to churn for future trips.

So that is $8,600 for the low cost of $3,780. That is $4,820 in savings or a 127% return on investment in 9 months

The average person doesn't have that money available? I beg to differ. If you're on this thread chances are that you are planning a Disney vacation at some point and you likely do have money at aside for your vacation. If nobody had vacation dollars to spend we wouldn't be here. Not everyone has the entire amount at once but we put in what money we have as we acrue it. I can almost guarentee most of us aren't working with $100,either ,except for those just starting out and getting the feel of things.

But your essentially saying saving $25-$35 per $100 isn't worth your time. Maybe it's not. But don't come into this thread acting like we are wasting or time chasing pennies. Saving 25-35% or more on our trips is a pretty decent savings. Your second post indicated you didn't intend to insult anyone but your message did come off as inflammatory so that's why your getting these 'defensive' responses.
What they said /\

The theory on not getting the eBay #X promotions until you earn $5 in eBucks is an interesting one, but doesn't apply to me. I signed up on or before 2/22/2016 and have earned $41 in eBucks since then, I have yet to see a promotion and I have been checking e mail, spam, and eBay banners every day. I am hoping that once I start spending the eBucks that will trigger something, we will see.

At this point I have a lot of time before I have to get serious about this- our trip isn't until next year and I already have most of what I need for tickets and food- we are renting DVC points so I can't use gift cards for that. Anything extra I save will just be held on to for the next trip :)
This is most definitely NOT the case. My wife opened a new account 4 weeks ago and has n't used it yet. She got yesterdays 4x offer.

Some TAs will take your GC #s and pay for your reservation for you. That's because they get paid their commission by Disney. However, there are others who won't. I don't use a TA but I'm pretty sure that I know what TA you're talking about. I've seen at least one post that says they will accept GCs but you should go directly to the source and drop them an email.
I made it a point to tell the TA that I was paying with GCs/DVA before we got started. It was in the email communication so that there would be no confusion as to how I intended to pay.

If you do the same, they should let you know that they cannot accept that form of payment up front.

So when I wasn't getting the offers I opened another eBay account. That account which I've never used has the 4x offer. Will eBay get suspicious if I use the second account? And are there any drawbacks besides having eBay bucks on two different accounts?

This! I've spent $392 out of pocket so far and currently have $748 in giftcards/ebay Bucks. I've almost doubled my money and that's not even counting cash back from shopping portals. And I've only been doing this for less than 2 months. My goal is to get enough to pay for our park tickets and food for a trip next April, so roughly $3300. At my current earning rate, I have more than enough time to get there. Plus the more I churn at once the more I earn in rebates/eBay bucks. This "hobby" is not without its frustrations but this way I can save money towards my Disney trips AND eat out, etc in my every day life.

Got the new sale flyer from giant eagle today that starts Thursday-looked to see if there would be a bonus fuel perks promo with Easter coming up. There was a picture showing they will have bonus fuel perks on "select" gift cards (six in the picture but target was not one) but also had a picture next to that one showing you can earn fuel perks on all your target gift card purchases. Wonder if they have seen a big increase in target gift card purchases recently since they had it's own "ad" even though it does not appear to be part of the upcoming promotion.
ETA just realized there is a second ad on the back page that shows 6 different cards as part of the promo-one is eBay (could use to churn) but also Visa and MasterCard are listed (I believe @Friendlyadvice2 recommends buying those then using those to buy target for additional fuel perks savings)-so maybe target is actually included too :)

I haven't seen the ad yet, but that sounds like a winner. Gas prices up a .40 a gallon over the last couple weeks, so that means more cards!!

Sorry one more newbie question! Based on Lain's helpful post, I was going to start my initial purchase through eBay. However, I don't have the 4x offer. I could go ahead and just buy the Target gc's at 1x, but is there any reason I shouldn't start at Target (with the 5%) by buying the eBay cards so that at least I am ready for the next time eBay offers extra rewards?

No reason not to. I did that too when I started last month. I had some target gift cards already which I used to buy ebay gift cards, but I wanted to have more ebay so I paid with my redcard for the additional ebay gift cards.

I'm going to take a break from buying eBay gift cards from Target for a little while. And I guess I'll be sitting out this 4x promo as well.

I put in another order for just pharmacy and personal care items after my fourth order containing eBay cards was canceled, and that order went through fine. So it seems, at least since yesterday, every order of mine that included an eBay gift card has been canceled. But I also got Ebates credit for each of these orders! I did notice that on my regular shopping list orders, my saved Red Card information came up automatically as the default payment, whereas I had to re-enter my Red Card information for the orders with eBay gift cards. I don't know if that means anything because Target's site has always been hit or miss with remembering my Red Card as the default payment, and I've had to re-enter it many times.

I'll try again with a "small" $100 card in about a week.

I know this has been covered but I can't seem to find confirmation. Do both Target and eBay gift card purchases earn mypoints rewards??

Well, in theory, you should not get credit for buying a Target GC from Target nor for buying an eBay GC from eBay. However, in practice, I've found that buying a Target GC from Target does credit.

@davper Thanks for that info (your wife getting the 4x promotion without having earned eBucks before).

Here's a new theory- maybe it has to do with the age of the account, and whether or not you earned eBucks before? I've had my eBay account for well over a decade, just signed up for eBucks about 3 weeks ago, and have yet to receive a #X promotion. Maybe on an old account you have to earn and spend eBucks before getting the promotions? And on a new account signed up for eBucks, you start getting the promotions more quickly? Just another theory, it may just be random. I am considering opening another eBay account if I don't start getting the promotions in the next few weeks (ie after I can spend my eBucks)

I get points for target and ebay gift cards as well as if I am just combining my smaller target gift cards to get a larger target gift card.

Technically we aren't supposed to but I always get them.

Thank you! That's what I thought but wanted to make sure before I get started!
