Disney Gift Card Deals

Quick question...are eBucks earned on purchases of eBay gift cards? I assume no, but thought I'd ask. There is a $100 item that I am watching but the auction doesn't end until tomorrow so I can't get the 8% eBucks on it if I "win".

Ugh! Issue paying on eBay this morning. I have a gift card that I know has a balance (I double checked), but when I try to enter it as payment, I get a message that says "cannot apply this to your order." Its a gift card that was used on my account previously, so it is linked specifically to my account. Its not an issue with the $5K limit (I checked that as well). I'm having no problem entering a new eBay gift card that I just purchased yesterday. Very odd! Any ideas? On hold with Paypal now. Not sure if this is a Paypal or Ebay issue.

You don't earn eBucks on eBay GC purchases. From their FAQ:
Among other restrictions, purchases made in the following categories DO NOT qualify:
  • eBay Motors (including Parts & Accessories)
  • Classifieds
  • Real Estate
  • Gift Cards & Coupons, but only for eBay Gift Cards within that category
  • Coins & Paper Money, but only for Bullion within that category
  • Business & Industrial

I had this happen last week. It eventually resolved on its own, which leads me to believe that it's not you, it's either eBay or PayPal.

Do you recall how long it took to resolve? I want to use that card today during the eBay bucks promo.

I believe that I ended up changing browsers and it worked. I started in Chrome and moved to Mozilla. Doing this required me to sign into my eBay account again. I'm thinking that signing out and signing back in again is what solved the problem.

I don't think we have a definite answer for this, but I don't think buying new gift cards with reseller gift cards would make them "clean." Target can follow the path gift cards take, so if your cards are "unclean," I don't think conversion to a new gift card would cleanse them.

I would suggest that you check your eBay account to see if you have the 4x eBay bucks offer. You would have received an email and/or there would be a banner at the top of your eBay home page. As @PerfessorZ has adeptly pointed out, your most "safe" savings may come from buying Target cards during an eBay bucks promo, as they would then be "clean," and you'd get a "discount" in the form of eBay bucks.

[This "clean/unclean" sounds so religious. A cult of Disney gift cards.]

I checked my eBay account I don't see the offer also ebucks only issue a certificate every 3 months and our trips is next month that won't really give me cash savings (since I can only use that on eBay) for next trip as going the card pool target route will. I am going to try this eBay-target thing after for our sept/oct trip.

Thank you for your help I think I am going to risk and just go card pool -target. I still think I am going to combine the cards to a new card just to make it easier to check out. If I have problems at target.com I'll just go to the store and buy the gift cards and just take the card pool savings.

Will one $1200 Disney gift card transaction be too much or should I split it when trying it online?

You won't be able to order $1200 worth of Disney GCs in a single order. There's a limit of 4 $50 GCs and 3 $100 GCs (or something like that, they change the limits often).

I also only signed up a few weeks ago and didn't get the 5x promo that came out recently. I was pretty bummed but wanted to "try the process" to make sure I got a handle on it before another promo came out so I could be ready. I did one order through eBay and got the standard 2% back on $200 ($4 ebucks). After that, I started to get promos. So there maybe something to the theory that you start getting them after an initial purchase.

I also didn't get the first few eBay bucks offers. Heck I probably did 2 or 3 transactions at 2%. Now I'm hesitant to do anything less than 4x!

I had the same issue yesterday. I tried it with the desktop site and on my phone and neither would work. I just logged out and back in, and kept trying, eventually it worked.

Ok thanks! I read that I should make sure the amounts of each order are different so that they don't get cancel as duplicates. So probably end up doing 3-4 transactions depending on the limits.

This is a good idea. I also recommend spacing them out a bit, especially if you are going to earn Ebates (you'll need to add a small item to your order in order to get Ebates). I usually try to only do one transaction per day. Don't forget to get the 5% Red Card discount if you have one! :)

Hmmm....this looks interesting! I rarely shop at Rite Aid but there is one right down the street. I'm looking to purchase a $100 item from eBay tomorrow so, if I read this offer correctly, I could make (2) purchases of $50 eBay gift cards and earn a total of 1600 Plenti points...and possibly an additional 1000. At a minimum, that is a 16% "rebate" that I can use to buy some household stuff from Rite Aid. Perhaps I should be more diligent in using my Plenti card...I could save up Plenti points and use them at Macy's for the Dooney bag that I can't afford:rotfl2:.

Good points!

Another hint: Choose "signature required" for delivery if you can be home to accept it. The GCs will come via UPS. Otherwise, they will be sent via USPS SmartPost. UPS delivery has always been quicker and with fewer problems for me. You can also verify that the package has not been opened and emptied by someone else when you sign for the package.

The theory on not getting the eBay #X promotions until you earn $5 in eBucks is an interesting one, but doesn't apply to me. I signed up on or before 2/22/2016 and have earned $41 in eBucks since then, I have yet to see a promotion and I have been checking e mail, spam, and eBay banners every day. I am hoping that once I start spending the eBucks that will trigger something, we will see.

At this point I have a lot of time before I have to get serious about this- our trip isn't until next year and I already have most of what I need for tickets and food- we are renting DVC points so I can't use gift cards for that. Anything extra I save will just be held on to for the next trip :)

Yeah, last year I earned $18 in eBay bucks in the 3rd quarter but didn't start getting the bonus offers until January. So far I've gotten all of them this year except the current one.

Catching up...

Also, this is way more fun than extreme couponing. I used to coupon quite a bit and while free toilet paper for a year was nice (running out was just the absolute worst lol) "free" Disney money is even better.

This is WAY less time-consuming than couponing! (Granted, I don't do perk, swagbucks, etc.) But when I couponed, I would spend HOURS. It was worth it at the time because we were really on a crunch budget. But once things loosened up, I decided my time was worth more than the return I was getting from coupons. Now, I just coupon in the things we regularly buy and that are regularly BOGO, especially cereal. We go through a TON of cereal!

The $200 ebay cards from Target never work for me, most of my other orders go through fine. With the $200 ones, during the checkout process, it never asks for my email for those cards. When I have $200 and $100 cards in my cart, it will only ask for emails for the $100 ones. Has anyone had this issue before and found a fix for it?

I saw other people responded, but I'll chime in that I've done several orders with $200 and $100 (but not multiples of each), and I haven't had a problem so far. And as for asking for email of recipient, getting an email, etc., sometimes I have to enter it for every card, sometimes only one. I send it to my alternate email, and sometimes it comes through and then sometimes it doesn't. :confused3 I guess it's pretty par for the course for Target's IT.

Just signed up for Ebay Bucks last week, got the 4x promo, and did my first Raise-Target-Ebay churn tonight, for 17%. Thinking I should be happy with the final 5% Target- Disney, for a total of 22%. What on average are your churning percentages, for say $1000?

It totally depends on when your trip is. See, one thing that maybe gets overlooked is that the eBay bucks are not cash. They are really more like an eBay gift card. So, it really makes sense to keep churning until you have at least $50 in eBay bucks so that you have enough to purchase at least one gift card.
