Disney Gift Card Deals

For those of you who use your Disney gift cards in the parks to pay for smaller things (as opposed to using them toward your hotel or something), do you prefer to combine your balances into one larger one and use that one for all purchases, or keep your cards separate? I hate having to keep track of several cards and their corresponding receipts (on the rare occasion I do have to return a merchandise item... it has happened and you do have to have the exact card you used), but conversely, the thought of potentially losing EVERYTHING if my entire balance is one card freaks me out. What do you all do?
Last fall, I used GCs instead of paying cash. Here's what I did:
  • I have 2 Disneygiftcard .com accounts. That allows me to store up to 10 GCs digitally.
  • I took ONE Disney GC with a balance of $0 with me and another for the person I was traveling with (my sister for one trip, my husband for the other).
  • Once I arrived in Disney, I went to the website and combined what I thought that I would need for the day in increments of $50 (that's how much the each of the stored cards was worth) from one of the stored GCs to the physical GC that I had with me.
  • I also took pictures of the reverse side of several GCs with my phone. When I ran out of digital GCs, I deleted those cards and loaded the ones in the pictures to the Disneygiftcard .com accounts. Then I combined them with my physical GCs.
I didn't have to worry about carting a bunch of GCs with me and if I lost the physical GC that I had with me, I could transfer the remaining balance to one of the ones I had stored (thus preventing the finder from draining it). Then, I could go to any cashier and purchase another physical GC for as little as $5 and load it into the Disneygiftcard .com account so that I could continue using my GCs at Disney. I never lost the original physical GC, but it was reassuring to have that option open to me.

I should have worded that differently. Not flagged but BANNED rather. A couple different posters have mentioned they are BANNED from purchasing on Target.com. No explanation.
Well there was explanation I thought. They were labeled resellers even though their purchases all sounded modest.

I might have missed that. The couple of days when it was first mentioned this thread was getting FLOODED with responses. So I may have missed the full explanation.

Has anyone had an ebay gift card that was purchased from Target not work? When I try to apply it to my purchase it says "We can't apply this code to your order". It lets me use another code, so it can't be that I'm over any kind of limit?

I'm not sure if I should wait (I just purchased the code from Target yesterday), even though the other codes that I purchased yesterday are working, or contact Target or what?

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this.

What is the minimum percent y'all try to get off the target cards? I was shopping around on raise and i see they're only around 5% right now. I mean some savings is better than none of course :)

I buy off Giftcardbin. They are 6.6% off everyday. I have gotten two emails this year for an extra 2% off.

How long ago did Target send you the code? I can take several hours for the code to become active in eBay/PayPal's system before you can actually use it. I've had some which were purchased at the same time that became active at different times.

I'll try waiting a day or two then. I got the email from them at 9:21 pm last night, so it hasn't been a really long time.

How quick is giftcardbin about sending the codes to you?

That's one of the things that I like about raise.com, is that the codes come so quickly.

Good plan. One question. On the Dis GC transfer site, I can't seem to find the ability to transfer less than the complete amount on a card to another card (if the card has $600, I have to transfer all or nothing, I couldn't choose to send $400). Your statement of transferring what you thought you would need suggests that you are picking the amount to transfer. If so, can you tell me what I'm missing and how to do that?

It is suppose to be ready in 4 hours. But when I called they wanted me to wait 24. So after 24 hours call them.

There...I fixed if for you!

Could it be that the first gc you are inputting takes you right up to your $5K limit and the second is putting you over?

I had a thought... (I know, dangerous!)

IF you were looking to buy gift cards on Raise (or Cardpool or any other gift card exchange), AND you receive eBay Bucks offers, a potentially safer way to fly would be to buy on eBay/Gift Card Mall as your first step. Hypothetical situation:

eBay Bucks deal pops up for 5x, but *gasp*, your gift card assets are tied up or depleted. You think you might be able to scramble & pick up some cards on Raise, but you're not sure if you can turn around the transaction in time to go to Target to convert to eBay and wait for activation before the 5x deal is over. But then you think to yourself... maybe there's another way that's easier & less risky. What if I just bought from eBay and funded with my Paypal account? How would that work out? Let's take a look...

You purchase $900 worth of Target GCs (6 cards @ $150 each). With shipping, this brings you to roughly $908. You earn 5x eBay Bucks, or $90 in eBay bucks. You also use an online rebate portal site that kicks back 1%, netting you another $9. At the end of the quarter, you take that $90 in eBay bucks, add $10 to bring it to $100, plus another $3 shipping to get back another $100 Target card. (Also earning you another $1 in rebates) So, to summarize, your investments are:

$900 to buy the first cards
$8 shipping
$10 to add to get your 2nd shipment
$3 shipping here

Total investment: $921
Resulting gift cards: $1,000
Plus $10 in your rebate account (which could probably be easily turned into a $10 Target card)
So you're buying $1,010 worth of clean Target cards for a $921 investment, an 8.8% discount, and none of it counts against your $5,000/6 month eBay/PP cap.

Granted, this is virtually a best-case scenario (5x ebb, $921 available to spend), but if the timing and the situation works out, it could save you money and peace of mind in the long run.

It seems that your hypothetical first step should be Target gcs@Raise-Ebay gcs@Target. Then you only have to wait a few hours for Ebay gcs to work. Then onto what you said. Or not, I'm tired.

An I able to use multiple target cards to purchase a Disney GC? So two $25 target GCs for a $50 Disney GC?

Thanks!

Well, I'm not sure what happened. I placed 22 separate orders Sunday for 3 $100 cards + 1 ruler (via Ebates). Received 21 emails tonight that the GCs are being refunded to my order, and 21 other emails with a $285 Target e-GC - which means it looks like I might still be getting the 21 rulers that I don't want.

I've done this order process before without a hiccup, though not 21 in a day. I guess I'll try a single order and see what happens.
