Wow...that's very sad...that someone thinks that Sin City was good enough to own on DVD.

Wow, I feel bad for her, but I am thinking he should feel bad too, for 1) hiding cash in the home and 2) keeping it from his wife.

A few years ago, a family near Wittenberg WI sold a home (I think it had belonged to a deceased grandma) and the buyers went to remodel--found hundreds of thousands in the walls! Case went to court and I believe the new owners got to keep the cash...I was searching all over for a link to that darn story, but couldn't find it this morning.

Still, I do hope they luck out and the buyer returns the cash. It is always a better world when people do the right thing.

How many times do you buy a movie and life gets in the way, and before you know it, weeks have passed before you finally get around to it? Even if the buyer is honest, he may not have a clue to the treasure he is sitting on!

I agree! He may not even know he has it! Hopefully he does return it once he discovers the cash!

Several years go, I read a news report about a lady who bought a car at a police auction. Unfortunately, through error at the impound yard, the car should never have been auctioned, since it was an unmarked vehicle that was still inservice. It was ruled that the woman did, indeed own the car as well as everything inside it, including the spotlight, handy removable 'gumball', laptop, and shotgun and riot gear that was still in the trunk. While she was nice enough to give back everything except the car, she was not required to, legally or ethically.

I have the same feeling... I would check it at a garage sale... or any used DVD for sale...

Wow that is terrible. I dont let my wife get rid of anything without asking me first.

I'm soooo sorry but this really made me chuckle!!! I'm sure she has not thrown nothing away that you don't know about but please, do not hide money anywhere!!!

I would be very surprised if the money is returned. We have a five gallon water bottle that we keep change in, it has many many disney stickers on it and everyone knows what the container is for. Having said that, as far as paper money, I have a special Disney interest bearing checking acct, all funds for the trip eventually go there. Also we have a fire proof lock box I have my left over travelers checks in there. The family knows these things, keeping a secret about the money is the biggest problem.

I do feel very sorry for the family tho.

Wow, I would be sooo crushed if I did something like that DH takes all his change at the end of the day and keeps it in a milk jug, that's our extra spending money. It's not that much, and sure won't be anywhere close to $1200, but I would be upset if we suddenly didn't have it anymore. Luckly, its big and heavy and not easily misplaced AND we both know its there

Not only that but wouldn't you check it first to make sure the right DVD is in it? Could have been one of the kids DVD. Sorry I guess I am a pessimist, sounds a little fishy. Some of the other stories we've heard sound totally believable but selling a DVD without making sure which DVD is in there. I don't believe it. How many times have you just put whatever DVD was in the DVD player into the DVD box of the DVD that you wanted to watch? I know I do all the time and always promise myself I will never do it again.

Perhaps he was saving it as a surprise and his wife went behind his back and sold items that were his. Wives seem to have this misconception that what is mine is mine and what is yours is mine as well.

Even if I thought it was ok for a husband to hide that kind of money from his wife (I don't), then he should have had enough sense to put the money in the bank, and not in a DVD case.

I'm sure too that the wife didn't just up and have a garage sale without telling her husband. I bet there was some kind of discussion about what to sell too. Probably the hubby forgot all about the money until his wife told him what she had sold.

WOW, sounds like something i did my self a couple of months ago.
But sure wasn't any where near $1,200.

While having a garage sale one Saturday morning i decided to go into my daughters bedroom and clear her book shelf out that and get rid of books i knew she had read or grown out of. Well, the books got sold for like 50cent to a $1.00 a book. Later on she came out and asked what happended to the "golden" books that were on her bookshelf. i told her a little girl around 5yrs old took them all. She had this expression on her face that i knew something was wrong. She had been saving her money for a couple of months in individual books....like a dollor here, $5 there just various money that she recieved from family or friends.....she said she had a little over $40.

We leave to Disney in 3 weeks and my poor 11 year old had been saving to buy souviners. I told her that it was my fault that i didn't ask her before i did it. But i also said if the little girls finds the money she will probably tell her parents and MAYBE they will come back and return it.....HAHA - no luck it's been 3months now.

I decided to go to book store and buy one of those "golden" books and put $50 in it for her as a surprise right before we leave to Disney.

A few years back we lost our vacation $$$ too.


My DH had a delivery from UPS and paid for the COD and laid his wallet on the bumper of the truck. Well, the truck drove off and a few hours later we realized that the wallet and $2,000 was GONE!!!!

We called the UPS office= of course no one turned it in.

So we walked up and down the side of the road. We found the wallet, pictures, insurance cards and even CREDIT CARDS= believe it or not=

What we didnt find is a single DOLLAR out of $2,000.

The other items were scattered all along the side of the road and you would think if the wallet had fallen or blew off the bumper as the truck drove down the road we would have found some of the money but we did not. That vacation was to Niagra Falls and luckily for us my in laws helped us out.

I feel so bad for the family that lost their Disney money.
