We leave a week from today (yeah) but my dd12 is just not that excited. Last time she was there she was 8. I can's tell if she thinks she is too old for characters (I'm not) or what. She is also not a fan of some of the big rides.
Any ideas on what might get her interested? What did your 12 year old like about disney?

Our son (11, 7th grade) liked the game at Epcot that used to be Kim Possible ( now agent P, I think). An interactive game used in various countries around world showcase via a cell-phone type transmitter. Also, pre-trip, check out the " Kingdom Keeper" series, books written for a YA audience. It may inspire some interest! They are great!

Well, what does she enjoy?

Theater? Dance? Music? Magic? Mystery? Tell us a bit about her and we can help. :)

Mine is 11, and she still does Pixie Hollow and a few other characters. But yes, the desire to hang with characters seems to be waning.

She loves to shop, so I make sure we stop at several stores each day. She saves her allowance before the trip, and also receives a certain amount in gift cards from us when we arrive. That makes shopping more fun for her, it's "her" money.

Before the trip we do manicures, with a Disney theme. Each morning her hair is done as nice as possible, sometimes with special hair items purchased for the trip.

Maybe ask her what food she wants on the trip, there are several websites with menus that you can study together.

Is your daughter into any celebs? If you Google their names/Disney, you may be able to find pictures of them enjoying rides at DL or WDW to show her.

Best of luck to you, I'm sure she'll be excited once you arrive. :goodvibes

My kids 11 & 13 both love disney. We have been going every year for the past 6 years and they still want to go. They both love the rides, parades, fireworks, character meals, etc. My 11 year old daughter especially loves the shopping in DD and she loved Cirque De Solei this year. They also both really enjoy the pools at disney resorts. (If you are staying onsite - they are all heated in the winter.) My daughter has also really gotten into the pin trading- she decides which ones she really wants and goes on the hunt to find them from castmembers. Another fun thing we enjoy are the carriage rides that Disney offers.
