My wife and I were last at Walt Disney World in 2017. We ran into some (not a great deal, but some) problem entering the park because my finger prints were too faded/shallow. We plan to go back in 2021 and my finger prints are even less distinct. Anyone know how they handle the faded finger prints at the parks?

Recommend talking to Disney customer service rep once inside the park as they might be able to by-pass that option for you.

They almost always have problems with my finger scans. The usual routine is that the CM at the gate has me try three times, then calls over another CM with a portable scanner who re-scans me, then has me try the gate scanner again. This has always worked.

I've tried to speed up the process by telling the gate CM at the start that the scan won't work for me, but they always insist that I go through the above procedure.

First off, it doesn't record your fingerprint, it takes measurements of you finger which is also somewhat unique to each individual. Back when tickets didn't expire if there was a lot of time between visits and you lost or gained weight, it had trouble reading it properly. That said, however, that is no longer the case because all tickets (other then AP) are length of the trip. The next time you go they will remeasure your print when you first use the ticket. They don't keep things on file.

It has been said that a lot of the problem comes from either not remembering what finger was used when you first used it for that ticket or you are not placing it in the reader the same way you did originally. Personally, I have never had a single problem with it. Basically, you can have no fingerprints at all and it wouldn't make any difference.
