We will be starting our vacation at disney on New Years Eve? We won't arrive until mid afternoon so don't want to use park admission. Any advice on something fun to do that evening. Our kids are 12 and 7.

Thanks in advance

How about Hoop Dee Doo? The two times we have been at WDW for NYE, that was our choice. Lot of fun and such a great WDW tradition without the crowds.

We have been to Disney 4 times over New Year's Eve. December 31st is my birthday, so I always get to pick where we eat. We have done two different things: eat somewhere on the Boardwalk or in the Beach Club and watch IllumiNations from the bridge between Y&B Club and Boardwalk OR eat somewhere on the monorail loop and watch Wishes from the Poly beach. This year we are eating at Citricos and watching Wishes from the beach. I would never, ever go into a park on NYE, that just sounds like no fun to me. This way we get to see the fireworks with less crowds. I think a lot depends on where you are staying. Like if you are staying at Saratoga or OKW, Downtown Disney might be more fun and easier. Have a great trip, see you there! :thumbsup2

Last year we went to the Chip & Dale Campfire & Movie for NYE - We had a blast

I suggest you reconsider about not going into a park. We like to do Epcot on NYE. We don't usually arrive much before 3, but even so, you are in the park until about 1 AM, so still plenty of time, and there is NOTHING we have done at WDW that is more special than NYE in a park! Our preference is Epcot.

I agree with dianeschlicht, the parks are open REALLY late, in 2003 we wnet and after midnight stayed until 2:00 am. Everyone left after the fireworks and we rode Thunder Mountin serval times without even getting off. The CM were having a blast and even joined us at one point.

A NY I will never forget.

The boardwalk is one of our favorites.....you can still enjoy the fireworks but not go into the park. also 90 days out...you can book the illumanation cruise if you start calling early. We have done both , the 9 oclock cruise is 1/3 the price of midnight and a great way to start your night at the boardwalk off. if you have children the party just for them at the Swan is awesome and you wil be just a walk away. Atlantic dance Co. can be fun....take it for what it is...and dress up.....even though they say it is what you prefer....I felt riduclous in my outfit compared to long gowns and fancy party dresses. lol

Have a wonderful trip.....this will be our first year in 8 years not being there for the Holidays.....
