Great question, I would love to know this as well.

My oldest daughter wants to go horseback riding while there ..... then we have plans for a girls morning, taking both girls to the Bibbity Boppity Boutique & then to the Princess Tea Party.

My husband was going to spend that time with our son, doing "guy stuff.". I just can't seem to find anything geared towards boys (besides the character meals that we will be doing as a family).

The pirate cruise sounds neat, but no way that my son would want to go by himself.

We're taking in Donalds safari breakfast at the tusker house one morning- my ds5 is more excited about that than the CRT adr we have.

DS5 is also extremely excited about going to DTD with dh to make his own light sabre (it's daddies 30th birthday and actually I suspect Daddy and grandad are just as excited LOL) and he's looking forward to hiring fishing poles to fish with grandad (as is my dad as he had all girls so never did the fishing thing)

This is one complaint I have with Disney. They need a character meal for boys. Maybe Buzz LIghtyear or a pirates one.

My DS 8 loves Chef Mickey and definitely do the Lego store in Downtown Disney. My son also loves Whispering Canyon.
For your husband's birthday, the guys could go watch him do Petty's Driving Experience. We have never done this, but I know my husband would love it, and my son would enjoy watching the cars speed around the track.

Not exactly what you are looking for but DHS has a lot of "boy" stuff.

-Buzz & Woody
-Car Stunt show -(not from the Cars movie). My 3 & 5yo & me & DH loved this

Chef Mickey's is also great for boys.

Also, the mini golf courses look like a ton of fun. My boys love mini golf and going there would be very exciting for them (we didn't do the WDW places).

I entirely agree a pirates or toy story themed one would be fabulous for boys (or less girly-girls- my eldest daughter is so not a princess girl - our youngest however is most definately one with the drama to match)

Maybe we'll see a toy story one with the release of the new film? It'll surprise me very much if that doesn't lead to a big push on woody & buzz again

I'm glad to here WCC and Chef mickeys are boy favoured places too- we're booked at both (we're there for 14 days)

I agree, Disney has really not came through on the boy interest items. My son's Fav place in the whole Dis World is Innoventions in Epcot.

Also when are you going? They are opening a new Dinosaur theme restaurant and DTD. I dont think it will be on the dining plan but we are going to do it, so my son can have one boy theme meal, lol.

When we went in Sept. my DS's were 6.5 & 2.5. They just loved...Chef Mickey's (it was their favorite), Hoop Dee Doo, & Crystal Palace for breakfast(YUM).

There is nothing geared specifically towards boys like there is for girls. IMO, we are taking this geared to girls things so far that we are now giving the boys the shaft. There are princess meals and general character meals. There are princess balloons, Tinkerbell balloons, & balloons with both Mickey & Minnie—and at a certain age, boys don’t want anything “girlie”.

What you can do with boys who are old enough to go out on their own is the pirates cruise. Not good for the only or the littler set. You can do Harmony Barber Shop and get a trim, with color, Mickey confetti, & a Mickey head—but it takes so long to dry, not good for the littler set. There is fishing and golf, but I can’t imagine the younger set being that interested.

The character meals my boys enjoy the most are Chef Mickey’s, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Garden Grill. Donald’s is OK too, but not one they enjoy that much.

My DS (now 10) did this when he was 7 and LOVED it! You hop on a pontoon boat at the Grand Floridian and take off to look for pirate treasure around the lake. Back then they had lunch (uncrustable PBJ, chips and apple slices with a drink) and the kids got pirate mickey ears along with bags of "pirate booty."

I can't remember how long it is...but there were little guys...maybe 5 or 6...up to 9 year olds on the boat. I think it's likely best for boys 6 to 8.

My boys would really like a Pirate or Toy Story meal, and they'd love a Power Ranger one!

My DS who in now 12 and has been going to WDW for a few years
still really loves eating at "O'hana Best Friends Breakfast" at the POLY.
We eat there every trip. The Characters are: Lilo, Stitch, Mickey & Pluto.
We love the atmosphere and Food. We've never stayed at the POLY but
it's always been very easy to get to if you stay at a different resort.
We also hop onto the Monorail after eating and head to either MK or Epcot
(very conventiant).

We're just back. My younger son was chosen to participate in the Jedi Academy...he was so thrilled to have dueled Darth Vader that he told everyone he met for the next two days about his adventure.

Both boys enjoyed the Tusker House breakfast and dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. They loved the craziness at WCC...my younger son did the pony races and they both loved delivering catsup. The waiter kept calling my older son by my name, which made him laugh.

They were both chosen to participate during "What's Your Problem"...they loved the competition! They loved Innoventions in general. We spent 2 hours there one day and 3 the next. The computer games there were right up their alley.

A warning about mini-golf: you can't get there from here. Seriously, call a cab. I asked Guest relations at AK about the best way to get to Winter/Summerland. They had never heard of it. Their suggestion was that I go to DTD and transfer from there. That sounded crazy, so I asked the driver going to the TTC if I could go there and transfer. He said no, to go back on our resort and get on the bus to Typhoon Lagoon. We did that. Upon arriving at Typhoon Lagoon the driver told us that the golf course was near Blizzard Beach and we should take a bus to Epcot or Coronado Springs because they were the only place that had direct busses there.

At that point we had been trying to get to minigolf for 2 1/2 hours and the boys were exhausted. They wanted to just go back to the resort and swim: which we did. We never did make it to minigolf.

I told the concierge about our experience and she just laughed and said that it was good we hadn't followed the last bus driver's advice, because that wouldn't have gotten us there, either.

My advice is, if you want to do minigolf, call a cab!

We just got back and did the Donald safari breakfast, both my boys (4 year olds) LOVED it. It was so upbeat and very interactive for the kids. They give each child an instrument and then all the kids and the characters dance around playing the instruments. Oh and the food was really good too.

lntsmom, that is terrible that you got such the run around (literally) trying to get to mini golf! I'm sorry you had such a difficult time of it. Just in case anyone is wondering, there is info about the different mini golf courses on the dis here

Fantasia mini golf:

The obstacle has always been 'how do we get there?' There are no Disney 'mini-golf' buses so you're pretty much on your own.

Since we were staying at the Dolphin, we simply strolled over to Fantasia Gardens. If you're staying at any other resort, you can take theme park transportation to the Swan. Fantasia is right across the road from that hotel. (If you want to play at 'Winter Summerland', your best bet is to take the Blizzard Beach bus.)

Winter Summerland mini golf

Winter Summerland is located within the Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort area and adjacent to Disney's Blizzard Beach water park. The courses are also very close to Disney's All-Star Resorts and Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. It's open 10 am until 11 pm, seven days a week.
