Sound's so funny.I bet your group was in total panic.:scared1:

Well we will at least have to sit Spoodles out this trip as we have a 4y/o with us that would definitely freak out and his mom eats calamari. Maybe we will have to wait until he gets a little older but there will be NO calamari on my plate.

LOL I know, its unbelievable isn't it?? We ordered a LOT of sushi right off the menu
1. California Roll ($17)
2. Tuna 3 ways ($20)

Then we asked if they had a shrimp tempura roll and a spicy tuna roll. They did but they weren't listed on the menu.
3. Shrimp Tempura Roll ($19)
4. Spicy Tuna Roll ($19)

We also asked if they did nigiri sushi and ordered...
5. 4 pieces shrimp nigiri ($8.50)
6. 2 pieces tuna nigiri ($5)
7. 2 pieces salmon nigiri ($4.25)

They surprised us by bringing out that platter. It was easily a foot and a half in diameter and we ate every last bite :thumbsup2 (There were only 3 of us! lol)

The platter cost $93 LOL but it was VERY worth it. So, in contrast Yoshie's Deluxe was $24....so you really do get what you pay for.

DEFINITELY order the Shrimp Tempura Roll. Its not on the menu. Ask if they can do it with "white nori" which is actually soy paper, with mango, watermelon and the orange ginger dipping sauce. It is seriously the best sushi I have ever eaten!

I will write this down & bring it with me! I want to try the Shrimp Tempura Roll!:thumbsup2

Hehe I explain what the platter was in the post just above this one. We just ordered a LOT of sushi and they brought it out on that gorgeous platter.

Yes, thank you for responding!!!!!!!!!! This looks great. We usually get sushi as an appy to share, but next time I think we'll have to over-order because this looks fantastic. :goodvibes

Popcorn is the one thing that my aunt always has to get when she visits a Disney park, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had their own secret blend of "seasonings."

The other snack food that Disney does a million times better than anyone else is churros. Nothing compares to theirs. Anyone got a picture I can drool over?

If you have a Costco Warehouse near. Try their churros. They are so good. Crunchy sugary sweetness outside, pillowy softness inside. Yummy.

Where do you get them from??? We bought some from one of the carts last summer and they were GROSS! Got my money back... But, then again we live in Tucson so they are familiar food... We DO LOVE the Costco Churros though.

Ctsplaysinrain-
I have gotten a churro. At the mexican pavilion. As, I have heard on this board, that they are delicious. However, I was unimpressed. I prefer the churros at Costco. :3dglasses I seriously think if others would taste the churros at Costco. They would like those better.

i wouldn't count spoodles out just because of that. lots of places serve their calamari with the tentacles instead of the rings. i prefer the rings, but it's not always served that way.

as far as it moving, i couldn't tell that it was moving at all. i'm not saying that it didn't.....i just couldn't see it. i worked in the food service industry all throughout college and, as disgusting as it may seem, stuff like this is going to happen when you are serving massive amounts of people. i'm sure it's not a regular occurance at spoodles. i've never eaten there but DH and i are trying it in april.

now having said all that, i hope i don't get anything moving on my plate!
I agree with you. While I've never been to Spoodles, that could happen anywhere. I prefer the rings too also, but I will eat the tentacles. Now DF, he won't eat calamari just because it's squid, and that's disturbing to him. I couldn't see it moving either.

DD14 and I love calamari, but when we order I swap her some rings for tentacles. I LOVE the tentacles!!!!

:thumbsup2

I've never been a fan of calamari - don't mind the tenancles, but it just always tastes rubbery to me. Same reason I don't like octopus sushi. Bring on any other kind of sushi though! Esp that platter from the Califormia Grill! Wow!

Love the pics though! I was a long time fan of food porn I. Long live food porn II! :lovestruc I can't wait til my trip in June when I can take some pics to contribute more to this thread than just chit chat! :rotfl:

I must say, if that was still alive I am VERY impressed with the freshness of the seafood sold here!!! I wonder if you have to keep shellstock on squid...
