Disney Flights

We're flying out of O'Hare on 10/25 and I was wondering how Disney schedules their flights? I've noticed people saying they flew out at 4 am and 6 am. I would assume Disney wants to get you there ASAP so you don't lose a travel day. Anyone else have experience with this?

Sounds like you're booking your air through WDW Travel.

You can (almost) always get fares as good (or better) if you book your air directly with the airline.

I suspect you can specify the flight you want, and pay whatever it costs. Alternately Disney may have "consolidator" airfare. Disney got a "deal" on a specific flight. Almost certainly not a peak flight.

No direct experience with them for flights but chances are they're using low-cost charter companies if those are the times. Airlines pay lower fees to the airports for off-peak times (in some cases they can only get off-peak gate and landing slots) so the charter companies usually have these weird times.

WDW is booking you on commercial carriers such as Airtran or Delta. They do not have "Disney" only flights. They are simply booking you on a flight to MCO (Orlando).

The flight times could be any time and you can specify what you are looking for.

WDW Travel is acting as a travel agency no different than local agencies...

A year or so ago Disney had consolidator airfare with airtran. Guests were getting lower airfare then Airtran was offering to the general public.

It's rare a TA can get you better airfare (domestic) then you can book directly with an airline.

The OP also posted on the DCL board. Looks like she booked "cruise air". Disney bought a block of consolidator tickets. People who paid for custom air (deviation) got first choice of available flights. It's possible those passengers took any available N/S flights leaving connecting flights for the OP.

Chicago to Orlando is a competitive market. I'd be surprised if she save enough money to counter the negatives of cruise air.
