DISNEY FILES MAGAZINE = junk mail?

Yea, I agree too and was very dissapointed when I read it last week after we received it.:sad1:

if he puts his email address and or mailing address it gives us a great place to send letters of disappointment and request (demand) change of something that is supposed to be DVC related and probably being paid for through some of our dues therefore gives us the right to demand change.
There's no direct email, but there is a generic email for the "magazine staff." It's DisneyFiles@DisneyVacationClub.com

I can only assume they publish that email because they'd like to hear from us.

I enjoyed those articles that didn't have anything to do with DVC. I am one of those subscribers to the Disney Magazine who was seriously disappointed when that folded. That being said, you're absolutely right--not a lot of DVC content.

Instead of just complaining outright, perhaps we should give them some constructive criticism. What kind of DVC content would you like to see? I'd like see some DVC member profiles.

Totally agree :thumbsup2 . I used to hang on to them, kind of like the decorating magazines, thumb through them as I dreamed about our next trip home, and I must admit, this one went out with the trash after one quick preusal.

I sent Disney Files an email, with a link to this thread, in case they want to see what we think.

I wasn't really expecting a reply to my email, but apparently they don't reply to any emails. (Why bother putting an email address in the magazine?)

Anyway, here's the auto-generated blow-off I received:

Thank you for contacting Disney Files. We always enjoy hearing from our
Disney Vacation Club Members, and we appreciate your taking the time to
contact us. Please note that, the large volume of messages we receive
prevents us from responding personally to your message.

Thank you again for your e-mail. We look forward to welcoming you home
again soon.

Best wishes,
The Disney Files Cast

Completely agree Jim. I just mentioned in the thread about the changes to studios, how the Disney Failes newsletter made no mention of this upcoming change. Either DVC is so knee jerk reaction, they never plan anything in advance, or they just don't talk to the people at DVC Files. There were no answers to the always asked questions here on the boards or among members! When will free internet start (more than generic spring/summer, what will the process be, etc). What is coming in the ways of treehouse villas or CR.....why does it have to be announced public, before it its owners? I think the Disney Files should be an insiders publication, with insiders information, not just a bunch of adds!

F.Y.I. On page 8 of the Winter edition of Files at the top captioned "Disney-MGM Studios Going "Hollywood" includes info. about the name change for MGM studio. This is the last "Disney Files" that I have received.

Yes, I agree the new magazine is very disappointing - not "magic" at all!

The page with the member photos is a good example - do we need a generic drawing of "Spot" (not even a Disney character!) and an explanation of how people often put photos and art on their refrigerators?

The info on the home makeover seems to be explained twice - once a promo and photo near the front, then the full story later. So, two ads for an ABC/Disney show.

I did like the piece on the nature conservatory - for those of us who visit WDW frequently, it might make a good day trip. And I enjoyed the Disney 10 Commandments - but I agree, the folks in charge of the magazine should go back and read these again. These two pieces seemed less about sales and more about general interest.

I preferred the old format which had a page (or 2) for each resort, with updates on activities and such. Also like the member profiles.

I think if they are going to waste so many pages on member getaways and exchanges, they should at least present these through the eyes of actual members who were able to navigate the system and make a trade. That would be more interesting and helpful - how many points, when did they start planning and make the request, and how was the resort/location. Guess this might bring in too much reality!

Finally, I don't see why they announced the free internet for members in December, only to then tell us "spring" and now put in a general mention saying to check your summer issue! Obviously, this will not be happening until fall (if we're not getting details until summer). Very disappointing...like the magazine!

What's even worse is we got two separate issues, one addressed to each of us. :rolleyes1

We also got two separate issues, one for us and one for another DVC member whose mail (including DVC reservation confirmations) we keep getting sent to our house (no matter how many times I've called Member Services to stop it). We finally forwarded the mail to the other owner and asked him to call Member Services. Obviously that didn't work either - hence two copies of the "new and improved" magazine. Bring back my Vacation Magic please!!!

I think TisBit was referring to the thread about the changes in amenities in studio villas - not the MGM name change.

My constructive criticism? Go back to Vacation Magic, same format, same type information. And it was only 16 pages long - big savings on paper and postage. With all the new resorts they are proposing, I'd like to see some status on the construction.

By the way, Jim, I sent them an e-mail several weeks ago asking about information on Pool hopping since we were already in late February. Never heard back from them, but I did hear from MS (sent them the same e-mail).

:rotfl: Yes, mine went the disposal way also! This is really an inferior product, rather low budget.

What's even worse is we got two separate issues, one addressed to each of us. :rolleyes1 At least we didn't get that generic bumpersticker this time. I haven't seen any on any of the cars around here. Anyone use that stupid thing?

Please don't shoot me, but I put the sticker on my van.

Heavens, no, we won't shoot you. But your appointment with the psychiatrist has been scheduled for next Monday at 1PM. ;)

my bumper sticker is on my fridge!! I laughed when I went to get something to drink... ("Disney files" noun, plural: a really cool magazine for Disney Vacation club Members, the ultimate Disneyphiles) Poor Ryan March is that all he could come up with? This magazine is not the greatest. Like someone said I hope it doesnt come out of our dues. This was a BIG waste of money!! The Bumper stickers were better!! Atleast the big dream book I got was way better them this magazine. But I also had to add on 110pts to get that!!

It's not low budget, just low quality. It's actually probably a pretty expensive piece, like most Disney publications.

At the suggestion of several folks, I forwarded my blown-off Disney Files email to MS. In my note with the email, I told them I did not expect a reply from them; I just wanted someone who cared to know about the feelings of some of their members.

I got a "we'll get back to you" auto-reply. I'm not expecting a reply, and won't be surprised or disappointed if I don't hear from them, but I'll let you know if they do reply.
