Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean December 14 2013

You guys are so sweet! :)

I'm going to make a resolution to stop talking about negative items on here. So on that note, anyone else ready for Dec of 13? :cool1:

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!!!
Over the weekend my girlfriends and I went to go see Magic Mike. I know there is alot of hoopla about it, but I actually didnt think it was all that great. Yes, Tatum Channing has a great body and he sure can dance, but other than that...eh. I will tell you what movie is hysterical-TED. I was :lmao: the whole time. Too funny! So if you're going to go see a movie over the 4th, dont waste your money on Mike...save it for Ted!

I agree completely with your assessment of Magic Mike. Haven't seen Ted or really the previews for it but didn't think Mike was worth all of the hoopla over it.

Thanks that is kind of you. :) She was kind to us and made landfall to the east so we didn't have any ill effects from the storm. Since we we had massive amounts of flooding less than a week and a half before, I was extremely nervous.

Sorry I didn't come back and update everyone. It's been a bit hectic worrying about grades, starting new classes, and family issues.

Been a bit stressed waiting to hear what my grade is (comes out on Tuesday). I don't believe I've mentioned it before to the group but I have hearing issues (which makes my job of talking on the phones a bit ironic). Basically if you are talking too quiet I can't hear you at all. The problem I ran into was I followed the syllabus for one of my assignments (and our professor constantly said one thing and wrote another). The professor wanted x pages and no more. He had specific items he wanted to make up three of the pages (table of contents, title page and references) so I gave him 10 pages as requested. He said in class at some point (which I didn't hear) not to include those items in the page count and I didn't know so I did. So I discovered afterwards that I only turned in 70% of the info he wanted. He gave me an 82 on that assignment (which I felt was generous since I lacked so much). So now I'm a bit nervous. I know on the one paper I got an A and on the second I got a B. So waiting to see how our group paper and final exam scored for the other half of my grade. If I made a B or better I get reimbursed from my work for tuition.

As far as family issues, my mother and step-dad have been traveling the country from the past month or so. They were expecting to be back home around late September. They ended up in the hospital two days ago where they discovered that my step-dad likely has cancer. He has a "suspicious mass." With my mom being a doctor she thought with his original symptoms that he was having issues with his appendix. So here they are in WI having to worry about surgery and getting back to FL. They are traveling with an RV and a motorcycle of which my mother has never driven either. Due to the generosity of a member of her particular type of biking group (CamAm Spyders) a person they had corresponded with but never met dropped off a vehicle at the hospital for them to use so my mom can go back and forth between the hospital and the RV. This gentleman is also assisting in getting the motorcycle back to the RV for my mom. So here her husband is ill, has had a few blood transfusions, and needs surgery and they have no idea how they are going to be traveling back. Compounding this issue is the fact that my mother has MS which is why she is a retired physician. She needs to rest daily.

Hope things get brighter for you!! :grouphug:

Thanks Michelle!

I did get some good news yesterday. I received a B+ in my last class. A B+ is exciting because I was so nervous that I was going to be below a B and therefore work wouldn't reimburse me the tuition cost. The B I received on the one paper and the fact that I didn't do the optional paper and probably would have had a lower grade as a result made me nervous for the past week. So imagine my surprise to get the highest grade I could have received (because I didn't do the "optional" paper and therefore an A was never a possibility for me).

Well back to cruise items, is anyone else planning on doing the Castaway Cay 5k when we go? I didn't on this last cruise but I've been reading about it and it sounds fun. I feel like it'll give me an exercising goal in this upcoming year and a half too (not that a 5k is far but I want to do well so I'll have to train a bit first).

You are hilarious. I thought it would be something fun and different for me to do on vacation.

Hey everyone!

I'm still here --- and I've been trying to keep up but you guys have been BUSY!!!! That and my whole family makes fun of me for planning something so far away. They are more the last minuters, I'm afraid! Which is why I love the fact that you guys are just as excited as I am --- no matter how long we have to wait!!

OK -- :wave2: WELCOME!!! to Ayme, SEVP, Pb9000, Tiffany, Christi, Bearcats07, and more?? Sorry if I missed anyone!!

Michelle - I'm so sorry for what your daughter's friend's family has had to deal with recently. I will be praying for them! I'm glad to know they have such great friends like you for support at this time.
- RE: Pink Champagne thing....I too vote for Christi! :thumbsup2 But when do you have to know? It sounds like fun and my sister/mom might be interested, but they will laugh at me if I ask them now. It was good enough that they agreed to do the FE exchange!! They just aren't planners. :sad2:

Christi - hope you are healing up well!! and I loooooove football too so if there's any guys meeting involving football, I might have to crash it. :rotfl:

Lianne - Boy, you've been through the ringer!! Will be praying also for your stepdad and mom and I'm so glad to hear the floods have passed and that you got the grade you needed (and then some). Hoping things settle down for you guys this summer for sure. RE: the 5K.....I did it in January and it was a lot of fun. I'd be happy to run it with you if I do it. The only snag I might have is that it's the last day of the cruise and my motivation for exercise tends to diminish throughout a week of vacation. :rotfl2: But since it's a cruise, I will also need to run off all the food!! Although I may need you to remind me NOT to do what I did last time......after running the 5k in the heat I plopped my sweaty, dehydrated self on a beach chair and was then asked if I wanted a gigantic KONK COOLER! AT 10AM!!! :crazy2: Yup, not the best breakfast smoothie....

Anyhooo.....just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone. Started talking about excursions with my "nonplanners" and we are hoping to do something special on either St. John or St. Maarten for my husband's 40th. Not sure what though.....if anyone has done anything fun on either place, please let me know!

Hope you guys are all having a good summer!!

Beth

Thank you. I was so excited that last week American Girl came out with a bald doll!!! So of course I ordered on the first day. A girl with Cancer still needs a doll that looks like her. And they offer a free head replacment if you want when your hair grows back. How awesome is that!!! Got to love companies like that!!!

Hope you guys are all having a good summer!!

Beth

Well I ordered my MNSSHP tickets for Sept...so excited to be going back to WDW in 80 days!!! Food and Wine and MNSSHP....can I say "AWESOME!!"

Well, I started school last week, so I am here procrastinating studying. Old habits die hard. :thumbsup2

Haha, my friends were teasing me yesterday for planning 4 upcoming vacations, with a few more on the back burner that are nothing but ideas right now. What can I say, I view vacations (both the planning and execution) just as important to my health as visiting a doctor regularly.

I don't think I'll join the 5k, but maybe I should. Doctor has me on a diet and exercise plan to lose weight (lost 20 out of 40 lbs in the past 3 months!) but I must say I have the hardest time with exercise. I was sort of tempted to sign up for the Tinkerbell Half-Marathon at Disneyland just to get my butt in gear, but chickened out. I could use some motivation!

So I'm starting fertility treatments this month. Hoping for the best, of course, we've been trying for a few years now, but I can't help but wonder how it will affect my plans. "The best laid plans" and all of that. Hypothetically speaking, if I have a baby in 10 months, I will have a 6 month old by the time this cruise starts. Has anyone cruised with a baby that young? Or do you sort of have a "minimum" age before you'd consider bringing a child on a cruise? (Not to mention the 5-6 hours in a plane each way!) Just curious.

:cheer2:Good Luck with the fetitility...prayers for you!!!

As far as the baby situation...I have traveled with a 1 yr old, 2 1/2 yr old as well. I will say having them over 3 is a bonus but I wouldn't let that stop me...just think the cute pictures you will get!!!:)

Barnacles!

I did not realize that I have been away from this board for so long. I had a lot of catching up to do!!

1. So - yes - game for the Pink Ladies -thingy. I never thought I would get to wear my wedding tiara ever again - wahoo :cool1: awesome can't wait - champagne, tequila, wine - you name it, i"m there

2. my DH would get together for a football thing, too - we are not smokers so the cigar idea would not go over. Hockey would be his first pick, we ARE Canadian, but there won't be any of that playing, I'm sure.

3. Amyekae - Keep positive. It took me a while to get pregnant and Noah is over 5 now. I am sending you some positive, female energy. Wish you all the best.

4. My vote would not be for Embarkation day as we will be leaving from a WDW hotel and that usually means we won't arrive to port until around 1pm or so - so that would be cutting it close - my vote is for an at sea day, too

5. Who ever wants to volunteer their time and energy to help our little group with planning - fill 'yer boots - I always appreciate such and i am sure it will be great - that's awesome

6. Getting so exited for this cruise - I will be sure to stay in touch more frequently!!

7. Outfits planned?!!?!?!? :confused3 OMG you guys are organized!! I will be doing that the night before :rotfl2:

8. I am not on Facebook - so am I missing out????? Maybe I will see what I can do about getting on it - my sister has an acct - maybe I can use hers?

9. talk soon everyone!!

Disney Diva16 - :thumbsup2 - can't wait !! I love to sit back and relax and enjoy a drink (can't wait to do the wine tasting) but with work and a busy 5 year old that NEVER happens!!

Amyekae - I took my 11 month old to Nicaragua and we had an exceptional time. No worries - you will enjoy every second, and be glowing all the while with your little bundle of joy. Plus DISNEY will have everything at your disposal should you need it . . .

OH - as I said before I have my tiara already & today I was out taking my son shopping with his kindergarten money his grandmother sent & I found - and bought of course - 2 pink feather boas!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibesToo funny!!

I need to lose weight too which is why I am planning on doing the 5K and training for it.

Good luck with your treatments!

We took Patrick (then 2 and a half) on our honeymoon although he was in another cabin with my mom. So yeah my mom and son came on our honeymoon cruise. My husband would have been miserable if we didn't have our child with us so in an effort to curb this issue, we had them book a cabin too. Patrick had a great time but of course doesn't remember any of it. It was great having him there though for us. If I had a six month old, I would bring the baby with me. I can't imagine how much worrying I would do if I didn't have the baby with me at that age (although at 2 and a half I would have left him confidently :dance3:).

Thank you so much! Yeah, someone was just telling me yesterday that they think it's dumb to take kids under the age of 5 to Disney or other expensive vacations that they'll never remember. I just responded with, "Well, at that age, it's more about the parents and the memories they'll have, than the child... what's wrong with that??"

3. Amyekae - Keep positive. It took me a while to get pregnant and Noah is over 5 now. I am sending you some positive, female energy. Wish you all the best.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I used to run track in high school, so running would probably be a really good way for me to get fit and lose more weight. I just hate running in my neighborhood. And I tried it in the early morning (5 AM) so no one would be outside to see me, and I was scared out of my mind. (Really, it's me, not my neighborhood.) But maybe I should just get over it and stop making excuses, and just try it.

Thanks for the luck! And yeah, I don't like the idea of having to leave my baby at home. But I may have to make that decision on our family Alaska cruise next June (sadly not Disney, but it wasn't my decision), when the child could be 1-2 months old. I can't bring them on Carnival, because they'll be under 6 months. My sister told me to leave them with grandma for the week, but I don't know how I'd feel about that.

I see that they have released free dining for December of this year for select dates at WDW. I hope they do this next year also because it would fall during the time I would be checking in. How great it would be to not have to worry about food costs before the cruise:thumbsup2
