Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean December 14 2013

I personally think we'd want to see how many people end up signing up for this before debating doing it as a white elephant exchange (although it does sound like less planning / organizing for you to have to do so I like that point of it). Plus it would be a great way to get to know everyone. I'm wondering how long it could take to do and where we could all meet up and do it at.

I guess watching this years group will help us figure it out. :rotfl:

I love this idea to although I am confused as to what u do once your dresse??d in all this. I think it would be cool if we all got breast cancer awareness shirts. That is what I am gonna do anyhow....kind of a close to my heart thing.
I also saw another thread doing a white elephants exchange with the ornaments...would be kinda nice way to get together and do the exchange. I will give credit where it is sure...the xmas cruise for this year had the idea or found it from someone else. Either way its nice!! Any thoughts??

Where is everybody else??? Beth, Sandi, Sonja...Where are you guys?:goodvibes

:laughing:I'm here - lurking :rolleyes1

I read the board every night and take everything in :)

Like the girls-get-together idea . . . I just bought a pink Disney golf shirt I can wear !!!

I can't wait for our trip - very excited as you are. Waiting for an ice storm to hit us overnight - if I get a snow day you all know what I'll be doing :rotfl:

Keep on chatting - I am always here in spirit if not typing

Ok this is what I have investigated so far. It does sound like fun.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2865313

I think we should do this. We could do it on a sea day when the kiddos are in the clubs. Just a thought....:goodvibes

I would like to do something fun like that , I don't like champagne....but if everyone else does then that's fine. If not we can always do another drink....or for that matter just meet and we all pic our own drink.

This definitely made me laugh, because on our first cruise, my husband had NO clue what to expect with the FE, and we ended up having to buy another suitcase to take home on the last night because we had SO much more stuff than when we got there. Had so many FE gifts that we ended up giving away some just to fit in what we did have. It's fun, but a bit overwhelming. We even split our group in two because we had so many participating.
That is a good thought! We have never done FE either but I am worried about having to fit it all too! If we get a ton of people participating maybe we should split into 2 groups as well....Baggage fees for the airlines are over the top you know?

Hey there!!!!
I just took a chance to see of there was a meet thread...wahoo! We were just on the dream 1/29 and could absolutely shoot myself over not booking on board. Boy that was an expensive mistake!!!! :headache:

Anyhow, we just booked anyhow as it will be my husband's 40th birthday and his birthday always gets trumped by Christmas. Hope to get to know some of you over the next 20 months or so!!!!!

We will have 4 kiddos with us...ages at sailing: Ds12, Dd11, ds8 and dd7. We had such an amazing time on the dream...it was just too short!!!

Happy waiting!!!!
Beth

Beth-
Hello! I just noticed the ages of your children. My boys will be 11 & 9 at the time of sailing. It would be so neat for them if we could somehow "introduce" them to each other before we sail! This will be our first time cruising and I know they will be nervous about leaving us (and each other) to go to their separate kids clubs. A familiar face might help :) Maybe we could have them email each other or write letters like pen pals or something... Not sure how kids communicate now days!

On our last cruise, we set up a private kids' group on facebook so the kids could get to know each other. After they did a bit of chatting on there (many of the kids used their parents' accounts as they didn't have their own), those that had cell phones exchanged numbers and they started texting each other. They ended up arranging a place to meet in the cruise terminal and while we were waiting to board they sat around and played some card games and talked to each other. It was SO helpful for my kids to have kids they had already "met" and connected with.

I have set up a private/secret(whatever it's called) Facebook page for the children with a facebook. If you want your children added let me know their names and I will gladly add them. This is a good idea for them since they will have over a year and a half to forge friendships.

I also created one for us adults....I have added a few of you already , anyone else wanting to be added feel free PM on her your name and I will. However having the facebook doesn't mean we don't keep chatting it up here. Keeping our page lively here will keep us at the top of the meets page and remind people come cruise with us.

As for the luggage situation..you do know you can ship stuff to the ship to appear in your stateroom which can help in the luggage problem. Anyone interested here is the info..I will post this to our webpage soon so that it will be handy for when we go. I have done this once myself and it was wonderful to arrive and find my stuff there.

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Hey there Alisha!!
That would be awesome! My boys would love that! My oldest was sort of bummed out on our Dream cruise that he didn't get to meet anyone his age. (He was 3 weeks shy of turning 11 and so he was the oldest in the clubs) I'm assuming your 11yo will be in the Edge?

Great idea for FB. My kids are too young, but I'll join for sure!!! Anything to distract me and help the time go by faster!!! ;)

We just booked tonight so excited!!! On this cruise will be DH Ron, me Angel and DD Michelle who will be 17.

In case you didn't already know, you are hilarious! :thumbsup2

Maybe the others had a different experience but since you asked for feedback I figured I'd share my experience with it :confused3.

Now that I think about it the only groups I am on on Facebook are Disney ones that came from the DIS. :confused3 It started with just the Disney Dooney one but they just added a Disney Addicts Buy Sell Trade one as a branch off from the Dooney one a few weeks ago. And now this one. :cool1:
