Beautiful Mentor!! Small World! My hubby is headed to Kalahari next week for a business meeting and my kids are bummed we cant tag along! :goodvibes

Yeah I would be bummed if I was them. We head to the east side for the kids dentist (Macedonia) & to rainbows for a pediatric specialist. Small world!!

Anyone who has children under 11.....Will any of you give them signing in and out privledges? Just wondering as my FE gift that is geared towards the older kids, can go for those that will have free run as well. My niece(8) and my DD(9) will have, My DD has had for the last 2 cruises and done very well. So basically I am just asking so I know whoelse this gift could go for. Thanks

No signing privileges for my kids under 11.

Just thought I would take a break from doing laundry and see how everyones weekend is going. It is really cold here today, so we have been hibernating.

My cousin has decided to give Disney cruises a try, so she wants me to tell her all about them and show her how the Dis works. I was hoping she would want to join our cruise, but the prices for this cruise are just outrageous. I think she is looking at the same cruise that Lianne, Beth and Jamie are going to do. I will direct her to your guys cruise meet if that is definetly the cruise she chooses:)

Alright, I guess I will get back to doing:laundy:. :crazy2:

I have been shocked at how much the prices have increased. This is my first sailing really having booked it out in advance. Normally I am a last minute Florida resident special kind of gal.

That is cool that your cousin may pick the same sailing we all set for next year. We can certainly offer her advice and show her the disney cruise ropes.

I am still nervous about hurricane season although I suppose if it is not one thing to worry about it is another right!?? The prices for that sailing are down where this one originally was when I booked it. :) In fact Beth and I went around and around on that detail actually. Lol.

Weekend has been fine thus far. I was working all day so yeah. Off tomorrow and Monday though. Looking at squeezing a last minute trip to WDW for my 30th and Patricks 9th. Figured we should get more usage out of our annual passes and I am off Thursday - Tuesday of that time frame so we could certainly get away. I am nervous about how busy it will be since it is spring break but I can't think of a better place to turn 30.... Well other than on a disney cruise and that isn't going to happen. Hahaha. I decided in the effort of gaining her more commission to have my TA book my trip so I emailed her yesterday and have been going bonkers waiting for my response so I can pay the cost and be all booked up. Oh and on an off topic mention I am down almost 50 lbs since our last trip to the world so I can't wait to compare pictures. :) Plus who knows what I will lose in the just under two weeks before we would go anyways.

Good to hear from you guys!!! :)

Especially since this weekend is nutso. I actually was supposed to be in four places at once this morning---ha! And an away gym meet's on deck for tomorrow!! After this week, basketball will be over and my tutoring students go on spring break....and then it will all slow down!

Woo-hoo, LiAnne!! That is AWESOME!!!! Congrats!!! And happy birthday! (When is it?)

That would be cool, Robin, if she was on the same cruise!!!

I'm pooped. Have a great rest of the weekend!

The 14th is my birthday and of course Patrick's is St Patricks Day. It falls in line with my spring break perfectly although I would be taking the kids out of school for a few days to go.

PS speaking of weight loss and goals, I expect you to be my 5k buddy and keep me on track with doing the it. :)

Where do you do the 5k run? Is it on Castaway Cay? I am not the runner type, but I will definitely go and cheer you guys on:cheer2:. I just dont have the stamina to run. I tried it over the summer and had to stop after a minute:lmao:. I mean really, I probably have to work myself up to even start jogging. So, I guess I will just stick with walking. It works for me! LOL:)

It is on Castaway Cay. The people that participate exit the ship before the all clear. There are different items they have given the runners afterwards for participating.

Beth did it last time and learned not to drink alcohol right after running the 5k. I want to do it since I am far from a runner as well. I figure paradise is a great place to have my first run. It gives me a goal to work towards and would be my first run disney event. Hopefully it will be the first of many. It will be one year and a day after my surgery so seemed like a good goal to me.

Robin --- There were a bunch of walkers last time. Typically the CMs stay for an hour afterwards so as long as you walk at a decent pace, you'll still get the fun of cheers at the finish!

I'd totally do it again -- esp after a week of cruising -- will NEED it! Trying to get my DH to want to do it, but doubtful. It was definitely beautiful -- but hot. And would love to have you remind me afterwards that as good as they look, AVOID the KONK COOLER guy!!! :rotfl2:

No cost -- as of now! :thumbsup2

I got a bib at the start, a medal at the finish and a "magical moments" certificate delivered later to the room.

I think you can buy 5k shirts now in the store.

The path is a bit boring, but I guess they are limited because they want a more stable run surface (i.e. pavement) and don't want us interfering with folks who might be trying to get to excursions, getting off boat, etc.

The only negative to it is that you are far from the boat at the finish (it ends at the bike rental place). I ended up just parking myself on some beach chairs afterwards and my family met me there (avoiding having to go back to the ship). Of course, then the KONK COOLER guy comes around...... :sad2: and you are hot, sweaty and they look so good....:sad2: BE STRONG...GRAB THE WATER THEY OFFER INSTEAD!!! ;)

Love the pictures!

The gingerbread houses look like they are fun to create - was your cruise before Christmas? We were on the Dream for NYE and they didnt have any gingerbread classes. :sad2:

They were fun to make! Our cruise was Dec-16-19. On the first day of the cruise in your navigator, you will notice them offering gingerbread classes. We went to guest services and they printed our tickets out for us. It was held in Animator's Palate and you followed alongside the chef through the tv's around the room. It's free-I definitely recommend!

My DH And DS did this in December and they didnt give out medals :confused3 - so sad. Hoping that was just for a shortage.

This is why I said they have been known to give the participants different things afterwards. I read here on the DIS that sometimes they do give out the medals and other times they don't. I am hoping we will get one but who knows?!? I have wondered a few times about the discrepancy as well.

I am so exited!!!! I found a dresses for my DD and Robin's DD for Semi!! I feel like this means this cruise is in reach. I have typed out what I have and what I need to find!!! Let the shopping and hunting begin....oh I can't lie , I have almost 4 nts at least of clothes bought already!!!! Just odds and ends, new bathing suits will happen at the end of summer most likely.

Michelle I saw the dresses that you found. Very cute! I still have to find Taylor something. The problem is that she never wants to go to the mall with me. I need her to try the dresses on.
I cant wait to do the Ginger Bread class. I think it will be very fun. I have started looking at airfare. Yikes:scared1: It is still so high to fly from Syracuse. I will keep checking.

Yeah...I am not much of a runner myself. But if you guys happen to run by Cookie's BBQ Buffet as I am sitting there, I will certainly cheer you on!!!!:goodvibes
