Just out of curiosity, anyone else thinking about doing the Castaway Cay 5K?

My husband Mike will DEFINITELY do the 5k. Possibly the older three boys too.

Hi!

Okay - I booked last week!!!! FIRST CRUISE EVER!!!

It will be me (Kathy) and the hubby and our 4 boys (14,13,11,5 at sailing). Connecting rooms on Deck 2.

Have way too many questions but can't start thinking about the cruise until after we come home from our 'wild west vacation' in a couple weeks! (have you ever seen "Vacation"? )

What is a FE?

Welcome aboard Kathy! We are glad to have you guys with us. I am sure we will be able to answer any questions that you may have.

A FE is a Fish Extender. Basically it is a something that we hang on the fish outside of everyone's door, and we do a little present exchange.

This is my first cruise ever and I'm ssoooo excited about it, too. Definitely read a lot of threads on the Disney Cruise Line Forum whenever you get a chance - you will learn a LOT! BTW, as Chris had mentioned, the FE is a column of pockets that is hung on the fish or seahorse (as I've heard there are some seahorses on the Dream so I'm guessing the same will be for the Fantasy) outside of your cabin. The original purpose of the fish is that it's a clip - CM's will clip any daily paperwork for your cabin there.

me too! Even hitting the 1 year mark is gonna be great!Its already the middle of June seems that this year is passing by quickly. Have to start getting the cruise paid off a little at a time ,,want to be able to book a cabana when the time comes.

It is moving fairly quickly. Much better than the 18months that it was when we booked. We've paid in full so I'm ready and waiting to do my online checkin and book my excursions. But thats the hard part. I have no idea what we will do. I suppose we've got a while to work it out though.

From what Ive seen so far as to the building of the fantasy I think its gonna even outshine the dream! Guess I may have to book a short cruise on the dream so I can compare !lol Looking forward to my trip to disney at the end of September then after that I will be counting down the days until we board!

The pictures (artist's rendering, I believe) of the atrium just make me gasp. It's soooooo beautiful. Disney may just spoil me for other lines (oh, the horror)

That is really cool. I've seen the horn battle between the Magic (or Wonder) and another ship, but I'd never seen that one. I think the original sound is my favourite but 'A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes' is a close second.

I have friends and family who were on the Dream for that battle. I always laugh when I see the video, and the Dream plays some big complicated horn song, and the other ship just kind of toots back in response.

After I posted that link, I found a video by Passporter that has captions that had me rolling. After the Dream plays the littany of songs and just before the Magic plays it's lone song there's a caption "And the Magic wishes...."
