Disney Fantasy, August 18, 2012 - Western Caribbean

I can't believe that it's only 4 weeks from today that I'll be flying on down to Orlando! 4 weeks! :faint: Starting to enter panic mode now.

Still haven't received our cruise docs yet. We went through DU so maybe there's a slight hold up because of the middle-man?

I so know what you mean about panic mode. We leave in 1 week and 6 days. I just can't imagine being ready in time. Real life is just getting in the way. I've tried packing. Thought it would be easy to get that out of the way because we are packing all our summer gear and its winter here. But I think I'm going to have to pull it all out and start again to get rid of some of it. I still haven't finished my FE gifts that I've been working on for months. Almost there but still a bit to go.

On top of that the kids dance competitions start the day after we get back. So I've got costumes and shoes etc to organise so that we can just pick it up that morning and leave. Its amazing how many last minute things I have to do for that, in amongst practising the dances all the time.

Sounds like you have lots to do before you go and lots to do when you get back but you will be so relaxed when you get home. Safe travels to you and your family

As per my son - candy can't be beat. :)

I had read where someone gave a plastic cup and a package of Oreos (single serving - like 6 cookies) to the teens. The idea was to crush the Oreos and make their own flurry/blizzard at the ice cream station. :cool2: I would imagine this would work with M&M's or Reese's Pieces or gummy bears or whatever.

That sounds really good, thanks for the idea!

Thanks for your condolences.

Great to hear how everyone is getting organised (or not in some cases - me included)

Can i just ask does anyone have any preferences for uk/ireland/european confectionary? (for FE gifts)
Anything you want to try or may have had before,,,, i know you have a massive selection over there but alot of our stuff is very different (dunno if its better or worse!!!) :rotfl2:
Also does anyone have any objection to alchohol? Plz just let me know as I have alternatives.:thumbsup2

pixiedust: Some Pixie Dust to help you out. pixiedust: (extra - just in case)

DS starts school the Monday after our cruise. He's one of those kids who MUST have everything ready. to. go. that first day of school. He can't just grab a pencil and a bound notebook. Oh, no. He MUST have the exact binders on the supply list... labeled.... filled with paper... in his backpack, 3 dozen pencils, erasers....

So we're getting ready for school right now, too.

Since you're leaving in just over a week, we should probably have the meet set-up soon. We've got a nice crowd here on this thread. Where's a good area on the ship for a large crowd within the large crowd? ;)

Speaking of school. Thanks for the reminder that I need to let the school know that the kids will not be at the first few days of school. 18 months ago we reserved our dates to be before the earliest school has ever started. Wouldn't you know that they pick this year to begin extra early. To add insult they didn't even Post a start date until June!

How about the Vista Cafe (deck 4)? It's an inside, mid-ship (and air conditioned!) location. This came up on the cruise Facebook page today. 2:45/3:00 start time. Thoughts?

So nice of you to ask anything you do is just fine. See you real soon now.

Hi everyone,

This is what the 5 of us are doing (me, DH, DS5 and DS7, and my sister (43)):
Grand Cayman - booked stingray and snorkeling tour direct with Captain Marvins
Costa Maya - staying on the ship and enjoying an empty (hopefully!) aquaduck
Cozumel - booked a snorkeling trip direct with Two D's Diving and Tour Adventures (over 100 awesome reviews on trip advisor) that we'll all go on (Disney doesn't let you book snorkeling for kids under 8). My husband and I were originally going to do a scuba trip but I've run into some trouble with my ears causing vertigo so I'm sticking with snorkeling. If anyone is interested, we were originally booked with Alison Dennis - alison@scubawithalison.com - she came highly recommended by people on these forums as well as trip advisor, cruise critic, etc....

We're going to Disney for the week following the cruise - checking into a DVC studio at Boardwalk Villas - I figure we'll already be down there and kids don't start school until 9/5...... why not? :cool1:

Jen

Hi! I am from NJ also, Ocean County and we don't start until 9/5 either. We will also be at WDW for 5 nights post cruise at the Beach Club! Where in NJ are you from? I have 2 boys, 12 & 10:goodvibes
