Disney Fans at Universal- Photos and Trip Reports- Updated 10/28

Hi Universal Fans! I’m a long-time Disney fan who only recently discovered Universal Orlando as well. I’ve been posting some reports and photos from my Universal visits in my Disney Trip Reports, but I thought that it might be appropriate to do a post over here as well with links to each of the Universal-related chapters. Hope that you enjoy them.

October 2010:
My brother “Buzz” and I go to Universal Studios for the first time.

Part One: “Disney Fans Do Universal”
Buzz and I start our first visit to Universal by hitting most of the Studios' most popular attractions including Revenger of the Mummy, The Simpsons Ride, Men In Black Alien Attack and Jaws. Plus, meet-and-greets with characters from Madagascar, Scooby-Doo, The Simpsons and more.

Part Two: “I Loved Lucy (but not Shrek)”
We finish out our first day at Universal with lunch at Mel's, a visit to Lucy- A Tribute, revisit some of our favorite attractions, and discover what some of our least-favorite attractions at Universal are (namely Shrek and Twister).



February 2011:
Buzz and I return to Universal, this time to try Islands of Adventure.

Part One: “Welcome to the Wizarding World”
We begin our first day at Islands of Adventure with the much talked about Wizarding World.

Part Two: “I Need Photos! Photos of Spiderman!”
Buzz and I discover another two of our favorite Universal attractions (Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk) and are amused by J. Jonah Jameson.



I’ll be continuing to post chapters from February as well as from another solo day at Universal Studios from June, and I'll post the links to each of the chapters here once they're up.

We explore Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park, try two of the park’s water rides and have lunch at Blondie's.

Great update! We love the Popeye ride - it's one of our favorite rides at IOA (although I have a feeling FJ might pass it when we try it for the first time in October ). I haven't tried Jurassic Park because I'm afraid of the drop

Thanks. The drop at Jurassic Park isn't too bad. To me, it felt more like I was hit by a wall of water and was suddenly back at the station since I couldn't see anything but water during the drop.

Thanks. Both trips were just for the day so we didn't stay overnight in Orlando. Since we live in Florida, it's not too bad of a drive there and back. The first day at Universal Studios was the first week of October 2010 and the day at Islands of Adventure was in mid-February 2010 but before Presidents Day. Both days had fairly light crowds.
