disney employee discount?

I have an interview for an outlet store on Thursday and i gave a decent amount of availability but there are some days i have to take off each week and already have 2 vacations planned. I am really nervous to tell the manager this because i won't be able to work black Friday because i will be in Disney World :confused3

Good luck on your interview! Can you come back and update when you get a chance? I'm thinking of applying to my local Disney Store for a PT position, and I was wondering what the interview is like also what the current discounts are for employees.

Good luck with the interview. Just be prepared for a let down. Taking off on Black Friday is not acceptable in the retail world and looks especially bad for prospective employees to request that day off.

Sorry to say but you need to be up front about your Black Friday day off as well as everything around it. Disney store has a strict no vacation in November and December policy. It is when a store can make everything they need for the year to stay open. Some get lucky and have those days off but it is not the normal as Black Friday is usually an all hands day.

Even college kids in my store were told if they wanted to go home for the holidays they would need to quote and reapply. Trades usually have to be approved and trades during the holidays are super hard. Idk if this is every store but the NYC store has a policy that if you call out on a holiday with no doctors note or proven emergency you can be let go.

I too have an interview on Thursday! I mentioned on my phone interview that I was planning a trip next year and was told it depends on when I plan to go if I would be able to have the time off. Right now it is planned for November but I am planning to change it to October so it shouldn't be an issue. I am thinking they are going to hire tons of people since the store is going to be new and the holidays are coming quickly. Those that are hired now, my guess is, may not know if they are part-time or seasonal until January when those decisions will need to be made. It doesn't matter to me either way, I will take the job regardless, I could use the money to help pay for my next trip. Why not have Disney pay for a trip to Disney? Good luck to you! :cheer2:

I got the job!! i am an official cast member. I had to promise to never take another holiday off again but.... lol I will let you know about discounts when I know more!!

Congrats on getting the job! It's good to know that they were understanding about your schedule. I wish you the best of luck!

Are you still with the company? Can you list your discounts? Did you get a DVC discount too?

General merch discount depends on years served and season. 20% min., 40% "holiday" which seems to get shorter every year. Hotel discount based on rooms needing to be filled, almost all 50% off (AoA Little Mermaid generally 40%), sometimes go to 60%. Discount on dining plans sometimes too, don't have to have a package to get the DDP. Free admission, obviously, though depending on all sorts of conditions that change all the time lately (seasonal store CMs don't get a maingate but do get comps, the new so many hours to get guest passes rule, etc.) When you become a CM you get access to the company internet "the HUB" and there's an entire section devoted to discounts, both within the company and all partners (ex. I got 10% off an ipod a few years ago.). There's a million that you'd never think of, plus things constantly change.
