Disney Dream- September 25th 4-Night Bahamian Cruise!

Okay, guys. Quick question. We are currntly in 7504, which sems like a great room for the space with a rollaway bed for our (then) 18 mo DS. But the view from that front-facin porthole scares me a little, and the double glazing with the flat front cover might make it a little dark. We booked thinking it would be one, rectangular window.
The cost to upgrade to a verandah wouldn't be that much, but what is anyone's experience with a 1.5 and 3.5 year old and the balcony? Thanks in advance!

I just 'Googled' it, and it looks like there has NEVER been a report of a child falling off a Disney Cruise... or any other cruise for that matter! The railings are just too high.

We didn't have a veranda on our last cruise, and we missed having a place for clothes to dry!

Hope that helps!

Dan

We have taken 2 cruises in late September/early October. We had no real problems. We have also cruised in December and January. We were definitely able to enjoy the water better in September.

We had a veranda for our last Disney cruise and our son was just under 3. The doors are really hard to open, even for an adult. If you are worried about the kids getting out there unattended, I don't think it could happen.

Our son is frequently asking "When are we going to get on the Disney boat?" I cannot wait! I am excited to see new families joining us.

We've gone in April and early December as well. The weather was great, but the water at Castaway Cay was too cold! :scared1: We just got back from a late October Magic cruise, and the water was perfect! :yay:

Looking forward to playing on Pelican Plunge again!:banana:

Thanks for the help. We were also thinking the fresh air might be nice during nap-time for youngest DS. Either way, we are super-excitd for our first "real" vacation with kids - and meeting you all through FE!

:thumbsup2 A little note about leaving the verandah door open for a length of time; Last year[sept 09] we where upgrade to a verandah room, had the "V" door open, not more than 10 minute, phone rang, they where wondering why the door was open. "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING" :surfweb:

Hi everyone!

My husband and I just booked this cruise and we can't wait! Well, I can't wait anyway. He is looking forward to it, but just doesn't get as excited as I do.:confused3

This is our first Disney cruise. I cruised once when I was 8 on NCL, so it will be my first cruise as an adult, and my husbands first cruise ever.

I'm hoping to pick up some helpful hints on the boards.

Glad you're here! The boards are great places to learn about the cruises and share your excitement about your upcoming cruise.:banana:

Again, Welcome to you and your husband! :cool1:

 Maybe we'll take the monitor (battery powered receiver) out on the veranda to avoid a call (inevitably waking the little on up). Great tip, though!

WELCOME! I'm happy to add even more to the fe list. Just to clarify, is Mishelle an adult, and would you like me to add the two of you under the Goofy Bunch so everyone knows you're family?

Tami

HI MOM , Joanne, Do me afavor please.........ask Brad what color Honda van is he getting to drive over to the port in May. Tell him that the husurdady is getting a new black one this Fri, it's been ordered going on 3 weeks now. I think it was a white one he was driving down the B-line this past SEPT after our cruise yelling at me "Husurdady". :) LIFE IS GOOD. :)

Okay Crew - What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? I'd love to be aboard with the whole family for the holiday, but I am very happy being home and waiting for the kids to get here too! So what is everyone doing? And are we ham or turkey folks???

Hi MIMI, Kathy and I hope you and MACK and your family have a nice Thanksgiving. As for us, there will be 15 people around the table this year. Two turkeys will also be present, one oven baked and one [this is a 1st] smoked. :) MIMI & MACK enjoy the day.:)

Hope you had a nice holiday, Don. We have had a great one! No turkey for us this year - a first - but lots of ham and chicken salad (a family favorite) so everyone was quite happy! Christmas trees are up - I love seeing the new DCL ornament on the tree! It's always fun to have the house decorated for Christmas. Last year when we were at the World, we got one of the Mickey advent calendars. I love seeing that hanging up too. If only I didn't have to go back to work - this week off has been awesome!!!!:cheer2::dance3:

Made the decision! We are in stateroom 5656, after seeing the photos showing full-depth 5E balconies and the Oceaneer's access on deck 5, it was a no-brainer for us. Under 300 days!
