Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

Welcome to all the newbies! Our cruise last fall on the Wonder was Fabulous, and our last Whole family vacation. I have one child off to Collage this year, had him home for our Thanksgving this past weekend, but put him on a plane to go back to school yesterday. My eldest is 19 and is working pretty much full time and is planning on heading off to Collage or University next year. So we now find ourselves a family of 4 instead of 6, but you know what? Everything is SO MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE NOW!!! Yes, there is a bright side to every situation. :)
We only have 9 more days till we leave for our MNSSH Cruise!!!! I'm starting to panic now! I have done only half the stuff I need to do to be ready for this cruise, and time is just passing me by! This weekend, will be Flurry of last minute putting things together, packing ect... I hope to be able to relax for the few days before we leave. Next year getting ready for the Dream should go much smoother, as my boys can help pack their own stuff then. They have NO CLUE about this upcoming Halloween cruise, but they will know about the Dream one, this Christmas!

Luckymomoftwo, as for my photos from last year. Yes I did end up getting them. The shutters people found them based on pictures I sent them of what my boys were wearing in the ones I KNEW I was missing. There might have been others, I don't remember. And yes, I agree, they need a better system. I never used the kiosk as they never seemed available when I was. Not sure what we'll be doing for our Magic cruise in a few weeks. The photo CD I cannot justify the cost of this time around. I have a great SLR camera, but am still learning how to use it. I may just try taking our own photos and hope for the best. Thats the most economical way to do photos (doityourself). But then when you SEE the photos in Shutters, it really is hard to turn them down.

My GOAL today, is to make everyone Jealous!! Well, not really, BUT I KNOW YOU WILL BE ANYWAY:rotfl2:

As of today, I'm doing the SINGLE DIGIT DANCE :cool1::banana::dance3::yay: :dancer:party::jumping3::jumping2::bounce::ccat: :donald: :sulley: :tigger: :hmghost: :mickeyjum :dogdance:

9 Days from today, we set out for our MICKEY'S NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN CRUISE Aboard the DISNEY MAGIC!!!

Can you tell I'm just a tad bit excited? ;)

OH!!! I AM JEALOUS!! Please take lots of pictures (I know you will even without me asking) and post them for us to see!!! I've seen pictures of the ship decorated for Christmas, but not for Halloween!

Thanks for the welcome! I was so happy to discover that Carter has his nana's love of Disneyworld, that I hope he also has my love of cruising! I've cruised many times, but this will be my first Disney cruise.

I am jealous too!!!! Now it's only 8 days to go!!!!! :cheer2: Halloween cruise aboard the Magic...how exciting. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back and hopefully you will share some photos.

We will be going to WDW in December....my favorite time of year to go....just love all the decorations. Going to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Can't wait.

Add me to the list of the jealous! I do hope you have a great time though!

We'd like to participate in the FE, but I don't know our cabin numbers, I booked guarantees. I've been thinking about changing it, but for now it's a guarantee. Saved a little money doing it that way but I think not knowing will eventually get to me! My TA said I wouldn't find out what cabins we're in until about 6 weeks before the cruise.

Our cruise for this Halloween, we also had booked GTY. I'd have to look up the post on my meets thread to find out exactly how far out we got our assignment, but it was around the 6 week mark, give or take. Something rings a bell with just before the 35 day mark. I tell you, I was like a kid waiting for Christmas! Each morning I awoke, I'd rush to turn on my computer and log into DCL to check and see if we'd been assigned a stateroom. I was THRILLED to see it that first morning it was posted, and even more thrilled to find out the location! We'd put in a request with our GTY that we be midship. Deck didn't matter, just midship, and thats what we got, as well as being on a deck that the majority of the FE particpants are on (that will make delivering EASY PEASY!) Does anyone know their show time assignment? I've been reading a lot about that on the main board. I didn't know it would that way. I'll email my TA on Monday and ask what show time we've been assigned to . We did get main dining, I think, but I'll check into that. Also for our Dream cruise, I would have booked GTY except we are doing a B2B and I wanted to be CERTAIN, we'd have the same stateroom for both cruises.

Hi everyone! Glad to see more people! I'm so very excited for my first Disney cruise and my wedding - which no I won't stop talking about on here :bride:

Trying to catch up on what I missed on the boards, as I sit at a computer all day at work and don't always like to sit in front of the computer when I get home. So please forgive me if I miss a topic...

Happy retirement, Happy (trying to?) enjoy your jobs even though you aren't close to retirement (put me in that boat), Happy upcoming cruises and trips to the WDW (I'm jealous too), Happy planning, and have a Happy day! :yay:

You are getting married right before the cruise?? How cool is that! Are you doing it WDW style?

That's fine by me that you won't stop talking about your wedding!! I want to hear all about the planning!!! We got married prior to DCL's existence, but I'm sure I would have tried my best to have a DCL wedding had there been such a thing as DCL!!!!

I'm actually getting married during the cruise - on Castaway Cay. It is WDW style - through the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings. (Well technically you get married as soon as you get on the ship in a civil ceremony - but that doesn't count) ;) The ceremony itself will be at 10ish in the morning somewhere on the beach. We also have to have a Bahamian marriage license (and a Florida marriage license) so we get two weddings.

Planning is fairly simple, I get a choice of a) b) or c) and just have to show up. The only hard choice is who is going to walk me down the aisle (or I may go alone). So look for me Saturday 9/17/11, I'll be the one in the wedding dress. :bride:

Even better!! Whata great way to have a wedding, planning sounds like a breeze, gorgeous venue, TWO licenses, and best yet .. WDW style!!!

I will be on the lookout for you, we are bringing our decked out nikon d300 so can help with a few pics. Would be cool I could even post them on here (with your permission of course)!

You must be so excited! What a magical amazing wedding :wizard::woohoo::dance3::bride:pirate::thumbsup2

Ok........ok.......ok DW and I go away for a couple of days and new cruisers come aboard and weddings are in the plans on Castaway Cay.........we missed out on sooooooooooooooo much new info!!!:confused3

Well, let me say :welcome::welcome::welcome: to all of the new cruisers joining us. (Even though I'm like way too late!!!)

I'm sure by now all of you have seen or heard about the new Disney sail dates. Disney didn't go beyond August of 2012 as of yet. DW and I prefer to sail in the fall months..........September or October. So I guess we will have to wait for them to announce beyond August to make our plans for sailing on the Fantasy. Maybe even book while we are on board the Dream. But more then likely we will book as soon as they announce for August and the rest of 2012. Are any of you looking to sail on the Fantasy? Just wondering.

Well, I can see by the ol' clock on the wall it's time for me to get back to work. All have a great day!!!

Disney Dream leaves building dock

Disney’s first cruise ship nearing completion – Largest ever ship built by Meyer Werft

Papenburg, 1.10.2010 - On Saturday, 30 October 2010, the Disney Dream, the biggest cruise ship built by MEYER WERFT to date, will leave the yard's covered building dock. The floating-out manoeuvre is supposed to commence around 5 pm. The Disney Dream is scheduled to float out of the dock the first time. The event will include a unique celebration to mark the milestone as the ship nears completion.

Upon leaving the building dock the Disney Dream will remain in the yard harbour. On the following Sunday MEYER WERFT’s and Disney Cruise Line’s tests & trials teams will perform functional tests of various technical systems such as the stabilizers and the rudders. Afterwards the cruise ship will remain berthed alongside the yard's pier. In the following two weeks the remaining interior work will be completed, and more trials and acceptance tests will be conducted.

The Disney Dream is the first of two ships MEYER WERFT is building for Disney Cruise Line (USA). She is 340 m long, 37 m wide, and can accommodate as many as 4,000 passengers. Her powerful engines enable the Disney Dream to operate at a speed of up to 23.5 knots. Having a tonnage of 128,000 GT, she is the biggest cruise ship ever built in Germany. Measuring a length of 340 metres, she even counts among the three longest cruise ships in the world.

The ship is likely to leave MEYER WERFT and be conveyed down the river Ems on the second weekend in November. The exact date of the Ems conveyance will be published on www.meyerwerft.com approx. 1-2 weeks in advance.

!Changes to the undocking time schedule or delays due to weather conditions may occur!

Thanks for sharing that information about the Dreams sail out Time4disneynow!!! It's not going to be much longer now. And before you know it, we all will be boarding that beautiful ship!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Does anyone have any plans of booking another cruise while on board the Dream? If Disney doesn't announce the rest of 2012 sail dates soon, DW and I will book one on the Fantasy for 2012. Taking advantage of the discount for booking while on board.:yay::woohoo::woohoo:

Disney to celebrate Air Force Week with parade, Thunderbirds flyover at Magic Kingdom
by
Ricky Brigante www.**************.net

To help celebrate Air Force Week in Central Florida, Disney plans to commemorate Hometown Heroes at the Magic Kingdom with attending US Air Force Servicemen during the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade on Tuesday, October 26, beginning at 3 p.m.

Shortly thereafter, the USAF Thunderbirds will perform a high-speed flyover at 3:15 p.m. Don’t blink or you might miss it!

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds previously flew over the Magic Kingdom and Epcot’s Spaceship Earth on April 7, 2008, the 55th anniversary year for the Las Vegas, Nev.-based air demonstration team.

Monika-that is AWESOME!! I got chills just looking at the pictures! My brother was in the Air Force...we weren't really that close growing up (we fought more than we got along) but whenever he came home on leave we got along really well. So I like to think that the Air Force had a little something to do with that! :goodvibes He would have LOVED to be a pilot but his vision isn't perfect so I don't think he was able to even try to make that a reality. So, now he has his Visual Pilots License through a small airport locally. If he ever wins the lottery I'm sure he'll work his way up to be a pilot with one of the major airlines. That takes big bucks for all the training. :scared1: Anyways, thanks for posting that!

And thanks davidls for posting the picture of the back of the ship!!! Can't wait to take my own picture of it! :thumbsup2
