I am so curious to know how they handle training on the ship for staff. I assume there will be CM's from the Magic and Wonder who will move over, which means not only will they need to train new staff over there, but train the Dream Team

thumbsup2) the in's and out's of the new ship (or train newbies all together). If the speculation is two months worth of sea trials, I wonder how long that means the crew will get on the ship to fine tune. Any info?
Also, does anyone think it will be similar to some other cruise lines where the Inaugural Cruise isn't truly the Inaugural cruise? I.E. I assume they'll do a promotional sort of cruise first with big wigs, TA's, press, etc? On that note, I suppose it's just a matter of time before they do some sort of promotional contest for the Dream...one can hope anyway
Training would be handed in a few different ways. Some of the staff are already or soon will be (as the ship gets closer to coming home)assigned to the Dream,(Capt Tom, prob the ChEng, and possibly a few others are already there)) and will come home with her. Some of the crew will come from transfers from the Magic and Wonder, which will leave spots that will be backfilled with promotions, and new hires. What ever is left will be hired out side such as wait staff, room stewards etc. Theyll most likely try and balance all of the new crew members, and the senior crew members so that no 1 ship has too many of either.
As far as sea trials I hadnt heard the 2 month number. I was under the assumption that it was only several weeks long. Shell be along side the dock at Papenburg where theyll test what they can,for a about 2 weeks, test the rest at sea after the conveyance, then provision her, put the furniture onboard, and send her on her way. Most of the crew such as cabin stewards, waiters etc wont be onboard for the tests.Theyll come in after that. Technically, the ship is still owned by the shipyard while being tested, and for liability reasons, wont be onboard. Some officers, and bridge crew will be to get some hands on training, as well as engine room staff.By and large, the ship will be staffed by contractors and technicians.
As far as the Inauguaral is concerned, it depends on a few things. They may and have done in the past short cruises to nowhere to work out the kinks and bugs and bring all of the staff up to speed. However, it will depend on how fast the ship is certified by the US Coast Guard, in that all of its protection systems, from alarms, to watertight doors, to back up systems to reponse to simulated issues, etc, is tested and passed.
I dont for see a problem with any of the above, especailly since MW has been delivering ships early, but until the paper is signed off, theres always a chance of something not going as planned.
