Disney Dream - October 9, 2011 - 4 Nights

Last time I did it, we just did one big one. I budgeted for it by just getting one gift per stateroom instead of one per person or dividing kids/adults. One per stateroom worked really well for us--we just picked something the whole family could use.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I was thinking of going this route and am glad to hear others do it, as well. = )

On another note, what is everyone's favorite trip report, thus far? I have been on 8 sailings so far, but with this being a new ship, I feel a little "off my game"! I'm trying to figure out what things I have to sign up for when we get on board, when is the best time to ride the AquaDuck, etc. I would love to hear your thoughts!!!

And, is anyone one travelling with an infant? We have a baby who will be 14 mos. and I would love to PM you to get some tips!

Thanks!
Amy

Anyone else at the 105-day mark and staying up late tonight to make a ressie?? ;)

Edited to add: For anyone interested...there is only one cabana left on Serenity Bay. Palo ressies available for parties of 1-2 people for brunch, high tea, and dinner. Lots of Remy ressies available. Booked parasailing on Castaway Cay for myself and DD8...let's hope that she'll go through with it!

What time are you doing parasailing on CC? My 9 y/o DD & I are planning to go & it will be her first time as well.

Do reservations open at midnight? I have on my calendar that I can start booking 7/8 & 7/11 since we are doing B2B.

Thanks!

This will be our first time with a rental car before a cruise.
Does anyone know which rental agencies provide shuttle service to the port after dropping off the car?
My thought is it will be most if not all the major companies but I just want to make sure.
Spending the night at a hotel that will allow us to park the car while we are at sea is also an option.
Thanks for your help.

we rented a car from MCO and stayed overnight at Cocoa Beach the night before our Magic cruise... we rented from Avis and the Avis return center is literally right down the road (a couple miles) from the port... but they have a shuttle. VERY EASY.

(also... there was a liquor store that we stopped at on the way to returning the car and picking up the shuttle :rotfl:)

We always use Budget. They are close to the port and provide free shuttle service.

We are traveling with a 10 month old and a 2 year old. Our first cruise we went with a 15 month old.

Biggest tip I have is go ahead and schedule some nursery time. It fills up quickly once on board. I would be dropping off and would here the cast members telling parents on the phone wanting to drop thier baby off so they could go to dinner that there was no availablity. You can always cancel if you decide you dont need it.

After a long flight, a long bus ride and a cranky baby..... WE needed it.

This cruise we have late dinner (by our choice) so the plan is to feed the kids, take them to the show, get a snack, take them to the nursery, and the adults are going to dinner and eat in peace. We are a late night family so I know the 2 yo will still be up playing and if the baby gets sleepy there are cribs available.

I am looking forward to Nemo's reef. Was hoping 2yo would potty train and whereas she is physically ready, she just hasnt made up her mind to do it. So Nemo's reef it is.

Also I just learned that there is family time in the Kids Clubs. That even though your little one isnt potty trained you or another parent/adult can accompany your child for some playtime. Our travel party consists of 11 other people who are teens, college and the 'real adults' so we have plenty of people to trade off with. Plus.... I want to see inside the clubs for myself.

We wont do characters. 2yo is still too scared and just likes to look at a distance.

We had a blast when we took her at 15 months. *actually her very first cruise she was 6 months old= that one was on Carnival*

Disney is the best "family cruise" line in my opinion.

We are not doing FE.... I've got too much else to keep up with in organizing 13 people in 4 rooms..... but we are on Deck 7, or you will most likely see us by the pool as this is what we like most.

Booked this trip a long time ago but didn't really think about it until now - except for flights a few months ago! Life has a way of getting in the way. But SO excited to be planning now.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone. This is our 4th Disney cruise - 1st on the Dream.

Now off to book something for the night before and a rental car from Budget. Anyone else staying at CIS the night before? Have stayed at the Radisson all the other times but have decided to make a change. Can't wait to Check-In and other reservations this Sunday. Still waiting to book our stay in the World afterwards. Hoping for some good deals to show up.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

So i was reading and dw and I have never done this but what do people normally get for fe gifts? I was asking we may join in but don't know what to do. Can't wait we can start booking online next Monday!!!:banana::banana::banana::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Hello! I've been AWOL for a little bit.... WOW -- been busy on here! It's taken me all afternoon to catch up reading (of course, I'm at work at the moment, taking a mental health break) :rolleyes1 I noticed we are listed as 3 adults and 1 child, but we should actually be 2 and 2 (son will turn 13 just before time of the cruise).

I saw some people on here from Colorado -- Westminster and Denver as I recall.... I used to live in Denver (TWICE in fact!) Go Broncos! Groovertoo - what part are you from? (Oh, btw, we are staying at the CBR when we return too!) Doing NSSHP on Sunday 10/16. Anyone else?

Also lots of people from TN, but no one else from KY? Also great to see some folks from other countries -- we'll have to hang out just to hear the different accents! LOL! (I promise to do my best southern drawl.....) :cool2:

MOM!!! Groovertoo and I are trying to hook up pre cruise to cuss and discuss the trip. I think he may be stalking me since we are scheduled for the same cruise, both staying at CBR post trip and going to mnsshp on the 13th. He is on the Disdads board as well!! :rotfl:
Colorado misses you come back!!!

We will be there on the 13th, just got the tickets this am :woohoo:
Can't wait to see the parade again, went last year for the 1st time and it was AMAZING!!!
