Disney Dream - October 9, 2011 - 4 Nights

Teacher Debi has lost her mind. I spelled right wrong. Yes it has been a long day. Can't wait to cruise.

Sorry for the late reply, all my nice cruise friends.

Now I am more sure that this coming vacation will be a very pleasant one with all the nice people with us:).

My cabin is #9618, not 9168.:confused3

And only my 13 yr old girl will be in the FE.

Sorry, I put it on my list as 9618, but typed it in my post wrong :headache:
Must have gotten my fingers tangled up! Du'oh! I've got you down right now! :thumbsup2 (Or should I say "write" now?!) :rotfl:

I convinced another family to go on a DC (they leave the week before us) and she said this is like planning a wedding! Although I've done this enough times (9th one) I still cannot get past feeling overwhelmed. I have four different lists I need to consolidate, four people to pack for (one a baby - their stuff seems to multiply), three vacations to plan (I count the drive up and back - 8 hours each way - a separate vacation trying to keep the kids busy/entertained, along with three nights at WDW). Oh my goodness.....:eek::eek: My friend is right! This IS a wedding!!!

Thank goodness there is a Conch Cooler with my name on it at the end of this!!!:thumbsup2

My current stress is the FE gifts. Would love to hear what everyone else is currently stressing (I mean WORKING) on! :rolleyes1

:cheer2:Cheering you all on!

I'm hoping someone here can help me out!
This is the story:
We booked the cruise in Dec. last year, while I was still pregnant with my fourth child. This cruise is the first time my husband and I will have ever taken a trip just the two of us (we were in the Navy when we got married and didn't even have enough time off to go on a honeymoon) When we booked so long ago I remember feeling the Connor would be older than he seems now. We leave in two weeks and Connor just seems so little. I don't know what I was thinking, planning a trip away from soneone so tiny and sweet! Tonight my husband said the same thing I have been thinking for months, so we are throwing around the idea of bringing Connor with.

Since we have no kids on our reservation I can't see the child care availibility. Can someone please check and let me know if there is even anything available on our cruise? If there's not that would make the decision simpler. I know he has no concept of time and won't remeber me being gone and he will be well-loved by the grandparents who are thrilled to see him, but I still feel a little anxious at the thought of leaving him.

What would you do?

How old is he (you mentioned being pregnant when you booked, but not sure how old he is now)

My honest opinion... it's time for a honeymoon. I have a lot of friends going through "issues" right now (I'm certainly not implying that you are), but the thing that I keep saying to them is that we all forget how to be husbands and wives because we are too busy trying to be the best mommies and daddies. And IMO, you can't be the best mommy and daddy unless you have a little quality husband and wife time every so often.

IMO you deserve this time away (especially with four children!). If you trust the grandparents and they would be thrilled to have the time, then just know you will have a sad moment when you leave him/them, but really do your best to enjoy your time and reconnect with your husband.

just a nickel's worth of advice...

Awwwwww...... I cannot tell you how neat this was to read. I know you are thinking "neat???!!!" but it really is sweet. Because my DH and I went through this last Spring. He won an incentive trip to Istanbul, Turkey and we did a side trip to London. I LOVE to travel and was having such a hard time dealing with leaving our baby (8 months) for 8 days. We have three children and have taken time away from them, but something about those last children makes it harder, I think. Anyway, we were driven to the airport with me crying most of the way. But, that was it. Really. Sure, we missed ALL of them, but DH and I had a blast being "husband and wife" like another poster put it. And, Grandma had fun spoiling them all!

I would keep your plans as is. DH and I always look longingly at the Adult Only areas and sigh. You'll see us standing at the threshold with one eye on all of you without kids, relaxing and drinking cocktails, while the other eye is on our kiddos! Someday we will take a Disney Cruise without them, once again.

By the way, I LOVED doing the DCL without kids when I was younger and childless. I know you will make the right decision for you, but consider the long term on this. Who "needs" you more in the long run?

Good luck deciding!

Let's see, I'm packed (did this during football games yesterday) and a big plus was using spacebags. I got a 4 day cruise and 4 days WDW packed into a medium size bag:cool1:, DW still working on it, DD...hopefully soon. I need to hammer out the FE gifts this week, I think this is finally coming together though...I hope you all enjoy! We're still trying to finish off the top of our FE and it just isn't working. The plan is to finish that tonight though...somehow. We are also stressing getting the house cleaned up for the SIL to come and house sit...this upcoming weekend should be the time to do it.

I need this vacation!!!!!! hurry up October 9th!!!!
I know...is it wrong that I'm as giddy about this as my 6 year old DD? We made a count-down calendar for her and I can't wait for her to pull off the sticky each morning. I'm so ready for it to get here, I sure hope I can get some sleep the night, week before?!

Thanks for the thoughts, you guys! Connor will be 9 months old on the cruise. My parents live out of state and will be watching the kids while I'm on the cruise. I know he will be well-loved because my parents will treasure every second they get to be holding him, even if it's in the middle of the night.:lovestruc
Everyone from the DCL agent I spoke with today to my sisters to my parents have all said he will be fine and it will be harder on me than on him. I of course now wish I had waited until he was a little bit older, but nine months seemed so grown up at the time! But really, I think a hige part of the trepidation is because when my oldest was 10 months old I was in the Navy and had to deployed, and it gutted me. I just need to kepp reminding myself that the Dream is not like an aircraft carrier, and I'll be home in a week, not nine months!

Nope! We are the same way. I have an app with a countdown on my phone that the kids take turns pushing every morning. Then, over coffee, I ask, "What day is it, today? Monday, ohhhhh we would be spending our first full day on the Dream!" And we continue the conversation on and on. It is so much more fun to have other people as hopelessly obsessed over something as you are!!! Thank goodness for kids!:banana::banana:

Now that we are just over a week away I was wondering if anyone has a updated list with cabin numbers for those in the FE list? If not on here is it on the FB Page? Just trying to get the bags ready so we can get packed this weekend. on 11 more days to go!!!!:banana::banana:

Me too! I have my FE gifts all ready to deliver, but I'm not sure if there was ever a super final THIS-IS-IT! list.

M I C....See ya real soon!

K E Y.... Why, because we like you!

M O U S E !!!!

I've started packing! So far just my fe gifts are packed, but at least it's some progress, right? Unfortunately they didn't fit in my small suitcase, I had to use the bigger one so now I have no idea where we will fit our clothes! lol
