Disney Dream - October 24, 2016 (4-night Bahamian)

Looking forward to connecting with others to set up a Fish Extender group on this cruise.

If organizing defaults to me on this DIS thread, I'm happy to get it started in a simple way. Looking for about 15 cabins to participate (if there are too many we can break into more groups). This first post would be updated periodically to keep an upfront list of who is participating so that you know how many people are interested. The group will be closed by September 24, 2016 in order to allow time for group members to prepare the right number of gifts.

It seems easiest to collect info for each cabin by simply posting basic info to this thread (as many other threads have done) -- this way participants get feedback quickly. Basic info could include: 1) Cabin number; for each member in your group 2) first name, 3) gender, 3) age (or "adult/child"); your choice to share what you're comfortable with. Just want this to be easy and fun!

Everyone is welcome to provide their ideas for this FE. The only guideline for participation at this time is that each cabin provide at least one gift to the other cabins during the cruise. You are welcome to gift each individual, or gift more than once on different days, and make this experience as magical as you want! This way we can accommodate everyone with different budgets, available time, and luggage space. It will be wonderful no matter how you contribute.

Looking forward to hearing from fellow cruisers... FE sign-ups or general cruise chat is welcome! I will check up on this thread at least weekly.

Hi Tiffany, your 2 cabins have been added.

Hi everyone, since there is a desire for some certainty to the max cap, let's set it at a ceiling of 20. If we really get to 21+ cabins, we'll break into Groups 1 and 2.

There will be different options for how we split into groups at that point, depending on how many in total there are by the Sep 24 cut-off. I assume for now the easiest thing to do is to balance Groups 1 and 2 into equal sized groups (e.g. if there are a total of 30 cabins, each group will have 15), and put those who want to share with everyone in an additional Group 3.

I'm also assuming that those who want to join after the Sep 24 cut-off date get on a Pixie Dust list, whereby they are expected to pixie dust others and those in the FE will pixie dust them if they wish.

Other ideas welcome! I'm just anticipating scenarios ahead of time. And I'd better get crafting... :stir:

Thanks to everyone who has provided extra little details about their reasons for traveling, special celebrations, etc. Rest assured that I have documented them and will include them in a final summary for all participants to refer to when this FE closes. I have not included them in the Post 1 summary for now.

Hi everyone! As we get closer to our sail date I wanted to make sure everything can get the multitude of information.

There are activities and groups planned on the FB page if you want to join. You can do it with me here and not on the FB!!

From previous Navigator's there is Halloween Activities everyday. From movies, to characters in costume, trivia, parties, etc. Pirate Night is separate and is scheduled for October 26th.

As far as I can tell we will not have a PremEAR on this cruise. Movies should be the ones that have recently been released over the last year and Halloween theme ones. Closer to sail date I can call and get a list.

FE Groups on here the DIS and on the FB page

Ornament Exchange on the FB page as well

Rough Itinerary:

Day 1: October 24th, Meet and Greet 12pm DCL location and time TBD. Maybe some pin trading and a mixer!

Day 2: October 25th- Nassau Bahamas- This is most likely the Halloween Costume Contest night and Trick or Treating!!

Day 3: October 26th- Castaway Cay!! There is a fun 5K run scheduled that morning.
That evening will be Pirate Night!!

Day 4: October 27th- At Sea. I have created a Champagne Tasting that day. Please let me know if you want to join. I need first and last names and cabin #. It is #35 a person no refundable if you show or not.

Halloween offerings:
Mickey's Mouse-querade Party-Shiver in delight during a scare-a-bration alive with ghoulish games, trick-or-treating, dancing and some favorite Disney Pals bedecked in Halloween attire.

Halloween Activities-Unearth frightful fun for the entire family, including mask-making and pumpkin-carving.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing and Scream- It’s “Season’s Screamings” during this interactive movie experience, followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack and Sally.

Haunted Stories of the Sea- Listen to a ghost story or two during an eerie campfire-style storytelling experience on deck.

Halloween Isn't Just for Kids-Shudder and shake at this adults-only party that includes a costume contest.

I feel like at 53 people we may want to break this up sooner than later? Last I looked on here we had 15 cabins and that's what I've been purchasing for. Adding even 5 more seems like a lot. Anyone agreed? We've never done this before and I just don't know what's normal but everything I've seen groups are usually around 10 cabins? Thoughts?

I hear ya, @M.Nardini! I just rechecked the numbers and in fact there are 56 people across 18 cabins.

So here's a proposal for 2 groups I'd like to float to all: I've taken the list of cabins in the order that everyone signed up and split it into 2. Then I swapped 2 cabins on the lists so that we have a more balanced number of adults, kids, and total people (if I just broke it up without a little balancing, the groups would be disproportionately sized).

Is everyone okay if we use these 2 groups below and keep adding to them alternately, balancing as needed as we go along until Sep 24? We're not likely to exceed our original goal of 15 in either group at this point.

(And of course, if anyone loves big FE groups, you can still gift the group you're not assigned to. Pixie dust!)

Feedback welcome!

@eatingaburger This looks awesome. Thank you for splitting them up. I think this will help us be able to give a bit more time into the gifts we're giving as well as help those of us flying and considering weight of luggage.

Thanks so much! I cannot wait! Hurry October!

I usually have a 20 cabin limit in my head, but whatever the group wants is cool with me. My gifts tend to be more per cabin than per person. So the actual head count doesn't really affect me. But I can see where someone giving individual gitfts would need a smaller cap.

I have actually taken out my suitcases and have started throwing in little things here and there.
