Disney Dream May 1, 2011

I watched the christening too and it was amazing! I hadn't planned on it, so I am happy I did. Disney definitely does everything right!

So, I have a question - are any of you planning on trying Palo or Remy? We were going to book an adult dinner until I saw the dining rotations. Now I don't know what to do! Since it will be duplicate dining rooms on nights 3 & 4 and night 3 is pirate night - we definitely do not want to miss that with the kids. I also kind of don't want to miss the last night, because thats when we say goodbye to the servers etc. Although if I had to pick one to miss it would be the last night.

So if any of you are trying Palo or Remy - what night will you pick?

Hello! I'm Julie and my family will be on this cruise. My DD will be 10 and my DS will be 6 at the time of sailing. Also, my 10 YO niece will be along. That will be my kids' 3rd cruise and my niece's first. Drop a line and say hello!

I have been quite obsessed with disboards, but have not checked in for a long time to this thread. I am very excited about the upcoming cruise. i don't have all the travel plans set yet, but know i will be there to board on May 1st. It is getting so close.

Have you all been checking out the pictures? It looks like so much fun. I see a few other families checking in here with kids similar ages to mine. Maybe they will see each other at the oceaneers club! i am really hoping my kids will have some fun there. They love those kinds of activities! this will be our first cruise...cant' wait.:yay:

Having cruised all 4 night cruises, we have always done Palo for both dinner (LOVE IT) and Brunch (LOVE IT). I will say I have always chosen day 2 around 6pm for Palo, when we sail away from Nassau. Works out well. For Brunch, I have booked day 4, at sea, around 11am. Order room service for coffee & danish around 8am then take kiddos up to buffet for breakfast.

However, with that said, I do not want to miss any restaurants on the Dream and we have to wait to see what the rotations look like. We can book ressies on Jan 30th so I have to decide, dinner or brunch? I may just book brunch for now.

I will say, I prefer the dinner menu over the brunch since the main courses are what we prefer and you can only order the chocolate souffle at dinner. That is worth the $40 you pay!!!!!!!!!!! But the variety of food offered at brunch is amazing, unfortunately they no longer have the best ever chicken parm on the menu.

Good Question! We were originally going to try for Palo, but I wasn't even thinking of what night and what we would miss. I am glad that you brought this up.
Unfortunately, I just found out that I have to learn a new lifestyle of Dairy Free eating. BUMMER! I know the main dining will accommodate but does any one know if we can still request dairy free for Palo? I will search the threads for new information too.
Not sure now if we'd do brunch or dinner.

When the weather forcast says 9 degrees tomorrow night, I think about the Dream and having to apply sunscreen!!!!

I need a vacation sooooooo badly about now...just have to get through 90 odd more days.

OK, so who is bringing kids and what ages? Ours are(or will be) 9-dau and 7-son. They LOVED the kids clubs last time...we could not get them out for dinner with us!! What a shame:rotfl:!!

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I (both 23) are booked for the May 1st cruise :cool1:
This will be my first cruise, and my BFs 4th.
We will be arriving at WDW on April 27th for 4nights before the cruise!
Can't wait!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

My kids actually wanted to go on a Disney cruise instead of WDW. I am so glad they did!!! We haven't been on a cruise or WDW, but I need more of a relaxing vacation. Our kids will be DS (10) and DD (7). I downloaded pages to make my planning binder. It will make it a little more official. :cheer2:

Planning binder? Please elaborate... It sounds like someone as disorganized and scatterbrained as me needs!

Although I LOVE to organize, I can easily find myself jotting notes on small pieces of paper, that usually gets 85% covered with doodles, making it very easy to mistake for trash. So when I came across this DISigner, jtanddolly, I was thrilled. She has alot of fun stuff and even some FE ideas, WDW, travel tage, etc. I do not know how to include a thread within the post but here is her 4shared account.

http://www.4shared.com/dir/18428241/4b39460d/sharing.html

On the main page of the DISboards, go to the bottom of the page, and look for Creative DISigns. There are several DISigners that have links to graphics they have already made and they usually include a link for requests too. (door signs, magnets, invitations, etc.) Dolly has a thread that also gives instructions how to make some of these ourselves in Word if you don't have Photoshop. I am going to use Dolly's pages to make a journal for the kids to jot down their favorites of the day.

We have some really talented DISigners on this forum!!! Have fun searching! Let me know if you have any problems and I'll PM you the pages themselves.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day!!

Welcome Jessica!!! We did our first DCL cruise in 11-10 and LOVED it!!! Our kids prefer it over the parks, which I have a hard time believing!!!

We will be staying at BCV for 2 days prior to the cruise. For the first time ever, not going to the parks...just enjpying the resort, etc. Should be fun.

Here in NJ, we are in the middle of yet ANOTHER storm! UGH!!! I am so tired of this winter, and it's only January..... This morning as I was shoveling AGAIN, I was imagining myself lying on a deck chair with a book and an icy cold drink!!!:rotfl:

Hi Everyone

My hubby and I just book this cruise last week and we talked our bestfriends and there kids to go with us so now are group of 2 grew to 7 can't wait to go!!

:yay:

Today is the maiden voyage, and I can't wait to start reading reports of actual fully booked cruises. In Tennessee, where it almost never snows, the last of our 3rd snow this month is melting, and I am ready for tropical weather! I don't want to wish my life away, but COME ON MAY!!!!!

How AWESOME!! Welcome to the group!!

A million thanks! This link is pure gold. I highly recommend everyone take a look. If you are participating in the FE, there is a really cool FE sheet to keep you organized while packing. Thanks again!

I am so glad you found that link helpful! Be sure to check out the packing list threads too! :goodvibes

I'm about 99% certain that we are booking on the Disney Dream this week. Our first cruise! Yippee!! We are definitely on board for Fish Extenders so I'll jump on that thread as soon as we are under deposit.

Can anyone offer a first-time cruiser some tips? What should we plan for in advance? I have my WDW park trip planning down but I have no idea where to begin with a cruise. I'm not sure what I want to do for excursions. It will be DH, myself and DD 3. She loves characters so that will be her "thing" on the cruise. I think she will also enjoy the Oceaneers Club -- so mom and dad are looking forward to a much needed adult break -- even a couple of hours a day sounds heavenly as we don't have any parents to help us with her and we've never been alone since having her except for an occasional 2-3 hour date about 1 time every six months... Yikes! We really do need this cruise. I think I just went to 100% certain we are booking!

Welcome KAA1972! Sounds like you really need this cruise! Let us know when you get it booked so we can celebrate with you. We'll be excited to have you join the FE group as well!

Happy Monday everyone. Its is soooo cold here in Jersey and we await yet another winter storm today. Oh how I wish it was vacation time. Guess what, 90 days til sail away!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it.

I stayed up til midnight last night and was able to sign-up for Palo. I have to say I was nervous with the new Castaway System and was sure reservations would be gone but I was please to see may times available for dinner and brunch. All of those who are planning to try, go for it when you can. If you can't get a reservation online do try on board. People change their minds and it is definitely worth it. Palo puts all others restaurants to shame!!!!!!!!

o'malley1118.....87 days for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I also stayed up til midnight last night to make our reservations :)
We are dining at Palo on night 3 for dinner....and at Remy on night 4! We also booked a couples spa service on the day at sea!
