Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Then next we should discuss a meet up plan. I'd guess it would have to be either first day right after the lifeboat drill and just before the sail away party
(that's when we've done them before) or else it would have to be Day 4, I'd guess because it's an at sea day. Too far out.

I think the first day before the sail away would be good:goodvibes

I agree, Rose. It would be better to meet the first day right after the lifeboat drill. I guess we also need to decide where. Any suggestions from anyone?

We've done it before by one of the pools so that the kids could be swimming and playing while the adults are getting to know each other.

By the pools sounds good to me. Especially on the Dream, since both the Mickey and the Donald pools are right next to each other so no matter what age children, the adults will be close by both pools. What does everyone else think?

Would we maybe be better off to try to meet BEFORE the lifeboat drill?

I'm not sure what is happening with the sailaway party on recent sailings, but I heard some cruises were having two options for the sailaway party. I am also wondering if now that the Mickey and Donald pools are together we might be fighting more crowds as we approach sailaway party time. (I also heard they were leaving the pools open for some of the parties -- it honestly sounds quite chaotic.)

Since we no longer have to wear our life jackets to the drill, maybe we could meet prior to the drill, like 3:00ish. Then everyone could just disperse to their muster stations from there without having to run back to their staterooms to grab the life jackets. Those who are interested and want to continue visiting might then pick a spot to meet back after the drill to enjoy the sailaway party together.

I did see a suggestion that there is also a nice area on Deck 13 forward with tables and chairs that is generally out of the way of most crowds. But this might not be as popular with the kids as a poolside location. Is there any seating near the Goofy Sports area? Maybe the kids would be happy playing mini golf while the grown-ups visit (?)

Just throwing out ideas. I am truly open to whatever. For some reason I am having visions of massive crowds anywhere near the pools on the first day -- especially as we get closer to the sailaway party time.

The whole DISmeets thing is actually new to me. On our last sailing, there were only three families active on our meets thread. Two of us lived in the DFW area so we got together for dinner about a month before the sailing, and that was kind of the extent of any organized DISmeet. So I am really looking forward to this meet, wherever and whenever it takes place.

Hey guys,,, I have been talking to Marci. Both of us are interested in seeing other rooms on the ship. However,,,, we don't have access to these other rooms.
In the past, we (the disboarders) decided on a sequential room tour. I call it "a progressive disser" :) Marci and I would be interested in letting other people see our rooms in exchange for viewing their rooms. Is anybody interested? I think Marci is in a cat R and I have a cat V room, both on deck twelve. In our case, I suspect that we might have to take people to see in smaller groups at a time to avoid creating a stir. Rooms that are on the other decks except deck 11 could be done sequentially from one to the next with all of us in a big line. Anyway, that is what we did on the Magic for the first Panama canal cruise. I had a midship cat 3 for that one. It was really neat seeing all of the rooms and made you realize that any one of them was great. Getting on the ship is the important part.
One problem,, Marci is preoccupied and Angela and I are both full time doctors. I don't ususally find time to actually keep up on the boards.
SO,,,Is someone interested in, maybe,,, pretty please,,, keeping a list of the names of the people interested and the room numbers that we can have in the tour. With this being a new ship,,, I REALLY am interested in seeing these other rooms. I humbly await your replies.
Sincerely,
Bill aka 3DAN

I would love to volunteer our rooms (we have connecting cat 8C, the deluxe family oceanviews), but I don't think I can jump in as the coordinator right now.

Holly,,,, great!!! I guess I will try to keep a list on my original post. What room numbers do you have?
Bill

Holly, I added your rooms to a "list" on my post , #2218. I'll try to keep up with you guys, but I bet I will fall behind. My mailbox is almost full with mail from my previous cruises.

You know, you are right. I didn't even consider the fact that people would be gathering in preparation for the Sail Away Party. This is only my second cruise, and I didn't participate in the DisMeet on my prior one. Will have to check out some of the trip reports to see about Deck 13 or Goofy Sports Area. We'll figure something out!! I'm open to any other suggestions.

Happy Monday my Fellow Cruisers!!!:)

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good, really quiet. But that's a good thing!

Only 83 more days to go!:yay: Can you tell I'm excited?:banana:

Is it June yet?!

Holly, I love all your pics! Nice to "see" you:goodvibes
The boys are very cute all dressed matching, and their pirate pic is cool too.

Either place is fine, lets see what everyone else thinks.
3pm is fine with me, but the only problem is will everyone be on board by then. Some people arrive late.
If everyone says they can be there by then, then it's a great idea:thumbsup2

My son looks so different now, he has long hair:scared1: but it looks ok on him (I guess, and even if it didn't there is no telling him at almost 21, what to do anyway:rotfl:)

Holly and Rose -- loving your pics! My husband just posted some new ones including me without hair, so if you guys want to be friends of fb send me a request. I'll also try to get some put on here. I'm terrible with names! But at least if I see a face I recognize I might do better.

Bill -- Í'll try to help you keep up. But since I've managed to miss two appointments and forgot my kids at school, it's pretty safe to say chemo brain has set in. I know everyone here is super busy, but my lack of memory added to working full time (and since I have chemo trying to squeeze five work days in to three, plus the kids baseball, the two and a half hour commute every day and lack of sleep due to those darn steroids) I fear I'll be forgetting more. If we have each other's back I think we can make it work. (Plus, my chemo nurse suggested melatonin to go along with my ambien, so maybe that will help me stay asleep!)

I. Just. Can't. Wait. For. This. Cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now heard or read somewhere that they have went back to just one sail a way but that the pools are open at that time. Would love to do a meet and great just say where and when and we will make it. Counting the days and hours till we sail.

Everything is falling into place for us. I got a free dining pin that saved us another $100 off our pre-cruise WDW stay so that was a nice bonus and I was just able to get an incredible deal at Discovery Cove for 6/8. I bought one annual pass to Sea World for myself for $117 with tax and I was then able to get 4 Discovery Cove dolphin swim packages for only $169/person. The current non-discount rate for that day is $289/person. It is a huge savings even if I never use that annual pass. However I may be in Orlando for a work conference in October so there is a chance I could even actually use that pass. So happy to have saved some money on that.

I agree. I think the pool area will be too crowded to meet there.

Can't wait to finish up my FE stuff as soon as we get our lists. I still don't have my room #.

Here's a pic of me & DD. This will be another Mom/Daughter trip!! Can't wait!!!

Love seeing everyone's pictures. I'm at work right now but I'll try to put some of us up when I get home. Might be a few years old though. We generally only do the family picture at Disney and I think its been a couple years since we had a good one ;)

I love the idea of the "Progressive" room tour. We have a 5D as well, so might be duplicating Rose (we're in 6070 so practically neighbors ;)). But add us to the list :goodvibes

As for the meet, I agree, the pools sound like a great idea but I'm afraid it might be crowded at that time. However, I'm up for whatever. Trying to be very laid back for this cruise. I know we've got a lot of DFW area people here. If anyone wants to try to get together for a mini meet ahead of time let me know :)
