Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

We had a really great day yesterday as well. My son got 1st chair region jazz in the morning (for drum set). Then the band went to competition last night and the band won 1st overall plus they got best percussion and colorguard. The kids were so excited as well as the band parents.
Our football team won also which is good because if they had lost. they would have blamed it on the band not being there:rotfl:

I can't wait until the dream starts sailing and we can get trip reports!!!

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!

Rose, we have never stayed at the WL, but have visited several times. Even watched a shuttle launch from there! Very cool! Maybe we'll have to look into staying there as well. Although, did you look at the Boardwalk area? You could walk to EPCOT from there. We LOVED the Beach Club!

WELCOME Elly and family!!!

I too was not blown away by the announcement. Really took the wind out of my sails. But it would be cool to see your child's face on the front of the castle!

Finally, a day of rest! These busy football and band days are wild! I don't know how people with more than 2 or 3 kids do it! We have a few families in the area with 4, 5 or 6 kids! Just crazy!! Anyway, Connor's Jr High JV team won Thursday night AND the Varsity team won too! Friday night the HS Varsity won as well!!! On Saturday, the band brought home a 3rd for Drum Major/Field Commader and 2nd place for Drum line! It was a good weekend in Hurricane!

Yesterday we got the yard cleaned up a bit and took down the last of our playset/fort/swingset and gave it to the neighbor. For 13 years, 4 months and 10 days, I could look out my back window and see it standing there in the yard...a symbol of youth, of childhood, and now it's gone. Heck, Colton is filling out College apps and wants to know if I'd like to go look this spring. Don't get me wrong, I love this age too, but I just wish they could stay little longer. I guess that's why God gives us grandkids, to squelch that feeling.

It is FINALLY raining!!! And it's suppose to until Wednesday. It's SO dry here. I know there is flooding going on, but not here. The lawn looks like straw already. Maybe the change in weather patterns will ease my headache....been over 24 hours now! blah.....

well, gonna flip the wash and maybe grab a book or a movie....
Everyone enjoy what's left to the weekend!

Dreaming.......
Michele

Yeah for rain -- we got some this weekend too, thankfully, and it's finally cooler here. I got really frustrated by the weather people calling a cool front highs in the low 90s. Today isn't supposed to get above the high 70s, and the rest of the week we should be mid to high 80s.

Congrats to the football teams and band!

Hi Everyone! Hope all of you had a good weekend. We didn't really do much of anything except the usual grocery shopping, laundry, etc. Watched My Saints today, but unfortunately, they lost in overtime to the Falcons. But it was a good exciting game.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Sorry about your Saints. The Longhorns lost in a big way, but the Rangers clinched their division and the Cowboys finally won.

Congrats to your son and the band! (Plus the football team!)

Busier week than usual here with two couples staying at our house all next weekend for the big Texas/OU football game. Throw in doctor appts., soccer, martial arts, football etc. and I'll be running all week, just like all parents with kids! :rotfl: Have a good week everyone!

Hello, everyone! We just returned from an awesome back to back trip on the Wonder! It makes me a little bit sad that this will likely be the last time I'll be cruising on the Wonder, but we had a great time. I've not yet had a chance to go back through the thread and see what I've missed, but I will get Elly and her family added to the main page.

I also found out a little bit of scoop about Remy from one of the servers at Palo. Remy is going to feature only traditional French cuisine, and will only staff French waiters and chefs. There will be 9 courses, all for the price of $75/person. I would love to check it out, but I'm worried that my tastes aren't advanced enough to handle a truly French menu. We'll see. Hope everyone has a great week! :grouphug:

Welcome back, Crystal! I am so glad that you enjoyed your cruise with your DD (read on another thread that your DH was unable to go:sad1:) Hopefully all will go well for the Dream cruise.

Has anyone seen this thread yet? Someone posted pictures from a visit to Meyer Werft and the Dream!

It's just pictures of the outside of the ship, but has a few zoom shots of the Aqua Duck.
Have a great day everyone!!

Yeah, it ended up being a great experience, and I'm so glad that DD and I ended up going. I'm glad that I got to say "good bye" to the Wonder, since we likely will never sail on her again. :guilty:

Well, we are just about halfway through another week. Each and every that we get up is another day closer to our cruise! (Can you tell I'm excited?):yay: Really looking forward to cruising with and spending time with my DD on the cruise. It will be really special, especially now that her Dad is no longer with us. Of course, we are looking forward to cruising with all of you too!:grouphug:

Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!

Crystal, Welcome back! Thanks for the info on Remy! I think we'll have to pass on that. I think $75 is steep to begin with, and we too, are not so sure we are adventurous enough to try that much new food! 9 courses? That's a lot of food...even in small portions!!

Tammy, thanks for the link on the Dream pictures!! It's hard to believe she will be sea worthy in just about 5 weeks! I've been trying to figure out which room is ours! Are the life boats on deck 4 again?

I need to get this house cleaned up today. Tomorrow and Friday are football games and Saturday a band competition. Tomorrow is a home game for Connor, but the Friday game and Saturday competition are away. I'll get nothing done on those days. Even my horror-scope today said I should "focus like an expensive camera" LOL So focus on my chores, I shall!!

On that note....I better get started so I can even have time to fix dinner before the evening shuttle service!!

Wishing you a Dream of a day!
Michele

Good morning!

Has anyone on this thread hosted a party in their stateroom before? I know it's possible but just wondered how to go about it, if it costs etc.

I know, Michele, I tried to find my stateroom too! I think the life boats are on deck 4 again, but I'm not sure. My room is on deck 5 Aft so I think I located at least the general area of my room, except that that area is covered in plastic so I couldn't identify my exact location. Can't wait until she sails out. Maybe someone over there will post some pictures.

Well, gotta get back to work. Lunchtime is over.

Have a great day!

I started to look to see if I could figure out which cabin was mine and then I realized I'm on the other side. RATS!!!! Deck 5 was the kids deck and the lifeboats are even with that deck. If I remember correctly.

I think I figured out which room will be ours! :thumbsup2 We are on the 7th floor, last regular verandah room towards the back. The room next to ours is a handicap accessible room, so it will have the bigger balconey. That was easy enough! My inlaws will have an inside stateroom on the same floor and down the hall a few doors, so can't "see" theirs. I'll have to pull our list of rooms and see if I can find any others!

BigBen, yes, the lifeboats hung over deck 4, even with 5. Just making sure it was the same for the Dream and I guess it is. I hope the chairs on this deck 4 are as comfy as the ones on the Magic and Wonder!

Marci, I have never even heard of hosting a party in your stateroom. As small as most of them are, I would be afraid to have too many people over! What are the details? Is this something you do on your own or is it a Disney sponsered event? I would like to go to one in a suite, just to be nosey!

I hope Tropical Storm Nicole clears out before the football game tonight. It's Jr High Homecoming and 8th grade (like Senior) night tonight. We have not had too much in the way of rain on this side of the Appalachians, but it's been dark, cloudy and a misty rain.

Everyone have a Dreamy day!
Michele

Michele -- I hope the weather clears out. Homecoming is a huge deal here and I know how much the kids (and parents!) look forward to it. Good luck to your DS and his team. I'll be thinking about y'all as we are watching my oldest DS play tonight.

Yes -- people who have suites sometimes host parties, but I've never checked in to it. I wanted to ask on here if anyone had knowledge before I asked on the main thread.

Have a great day everyone!

Did anyone else see this on the main forum?

It looks like the Dream will have two dinner times but three show times. The show times are apparently being assigned. There will be a 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00 show and the dinner times I believe were posted as either 6:15 or 8:30 (I think).

So it seems that main dinner seating can be assigned to either the 5:00 or 9:00 show and the second dinner seating can be assigned to either the 5:00 or 7:00 show. Supposedly your assigned show time will also be printed on your KTTW card along with your dining rotation.

People posting to that thread said the show and dinner times showed up on their reservations. I can't see it on mine, but that could be because we booked through a TA. Just wondering if any of you had heard about this?

My wife and I attended a Toga party drop-in in the Roy Disney suite a few years ago :cool1: The couple set the time and date and asked everyone on the Dis boards to sign up and attend:dance3:It was great to get to see the suite and about 50 or so people showed up :grouphug:

I saw this on the main forum too. But since I also booked through a TA, my show time does not show up although the dining is booked as second seating (which is what I wanted). I contacted my TA who contacted DCL and she informed me DCL shows my show time as 7:00, together with 8:30 as my time for second seating for dining.

Same for me. I heard back from my TA -- 7:00 show and 8:30 dinner.

I too don't know if I'd be back on her, but you never know.

I'd heard Remy might be so expensive. I'd love to try as well, but not for that price. I'm too picky of an eater to end up wasting lots of money there.
Too, bad, I'd love to check it out. Perhaps they'll do a brunch in there like Palo? Or maybe you could just go in to sit at the bar and peek around?
Here's hoping!:wizard:

Good morning!

Has anyone on this thread hosted a party in their stateroom before? I know it's possible but just wondered how to go about it, if it costs etc.

I'd never even heard of that.
And how many people could you fit in there anyway?
Do you have the Walt Disney suite?:cool1:

I haven't even begun to think of looking for our room yet. We're on deck 6.
