Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Wow, what a scary thing with the band!!! I am a band chaperone and I remember how scary it was when a kid last year just had an asthma attach. I can't imagine how scary that must have been. Glad he is ok!

Congrats on your son's baseball score. What an amazing moment!!

Thanks for the info on the show seating. I need to contact my TA.

I wanted to find out what everyones plans are for the nausau day. We haven't decided yet. Don't really want to do a beach since we will have that with castaway key. Atlantis doesn't really interest us since we have Schlitterbahn right down the street. So, what's everyone doing at that port??

I still haven't found my seating for the show.:confused3

We're definitely staying onboard while at Nausau! Everyone else can go and that will leave more time for me to enjoy that Aquaduck!:thumbsup2:yay:

Since it's been probably about 30 years since I went to Nassau and my DD, Rachel, has never been, I was thinking about doing Adastra Gardens. Anybody done this excursion before? Any opinions on it? We also don't want to do the beach at Nassau since we have the 2 days at Castaway Cay to do the beach.

I'm with Scouter about Nausau. I'll be pool side and riding the "Duck". on that day. If we do get off it'll only be for an hour or so.

Hello everyone.:wave2:

I'm surprised they are making Remy's so expensive. We enjoyed Palo's, so hopefully can do that again. I can't imagine eating 9 courses. I'm adventerous when it comes to eating, but DH would not want to go.

Question, if by some miracle we could get brunch at Palo's, is it worth going if you can not eat shellfish. I'm allergic and many of the picture show a buffet of shellfish.

We have Main Seating, 9pm show. Not sure if the kids will go to any shows this time. That is prime time at the kids club, which they didn't like to miss last time.

Got back from Toronto last night. Nice to be home. First stamp in my passport: so excited. I have only used my passport for the cruise, so this was my first time out of the country when passports were required. Been to Mexico a couple times when they only required birth certificates.

My DH HATES seafood and loves brunch! I also have main and 9PM. I figure that's the best. You can try to do stand by at an earlier show and if you can't get in you still have your show at 9.

I FOUND IT!!

Just says Second Seating, 5pm show. Would have rathered the 7pm show..then we could hang out a bit longer, then dress and go to the show and dinner right after. Oh well, we'll figure it out......

I would try the waitlist if you want to switch. I went on the waitlist for my March cruise and I hope it comes through because I don't really want to see the show at 5.

Still wondering how crowded that ride will be, how they'll manage that?:confused3

Can't wait though:cool1:

I got an email from TA. We have early dinner and the 9pm show time which I guess is good. The show before dinner would cut the day too short. Plus, we can stroll around on deck between dinner and show!!

Are there any other Hearing Impaired individuals or people that use sign language going on this cruise? My sister in law is traveling with us and is hearing impaired.

Okay, I know I have a lot of time to decide, but I'm still trying to decide what to do on our Nassau day. I'm thinking of doing the Adastra Garden excursion since my DD has never been to Nassau and it's been years since I have been, and I wanted us to be able to at least see something of Nassau. I think it takes about 2-2.5 hours so I will still have time on the Ship. Any opinions?

I have not had time to think about the Nassau Day. I do like the beach...even though we will be at CC twice. I am not at all interested in the water park option, that is Atlantis, right? I'm sure it's a great place, just not for me!

We did a 7 day cruise in 2009 and I loved both our excursions: a snorkel
trip and a bus trip to town/market. Abitagirl, have you done any research on the website about the possible excursions?

Actually, I have been thinking about staying on the ship, since the 5 days are going to fly by. I did my first hot stone massage on the previous trip and I still totally DREAM about it. It was that good!

Is anyone going to try Remy? I think the nine courses will all be small portions. Sounds fun to me. More to investigate!

Well let me be the first to wish everyone a great weekend!

Yes, I have gone over all of the excursions on DCL's website. We are not interested in snorkeling and since we have 2 days at CC did not want another beach day. But we do want to at least see something of Nassau, that's why I was thinking Adastra Gardens. You get the garden tour and a short city tour and it only lasts about 2.5 hours. That way we would still have time on the Ship. But I still was hoping someone that has done that excursion could tell me something about it.

Let me join Principessa in wishing everyone a great weekend!!:yay::yay:

GOOD MORNING FELLOW CRUISERS!!

I am afraid I am not much help as far as Nassau tours go. We have only got off the ship once there....and that was on the last cruise. We were not even suppose to go to Nassau, but hurricane Omar diverted us from St Thomas the night before. We chose to do the Junkanoo (sp) tour. It was fun! We got to learn a lot about the history of the island, then walked through the straw market and back on board. I don't know anything about any other tours. I have no idea if we will get off this time. I would like to see the Atlantis resort, but I guess if you've never been, you don't know what your missing. LOL I am content to stay on board and lounge poolside...or stand in line with everyone else for the Aqua-Duck! I know my SIL was talking about swimming with the dolphins at Nassau. I think they have done that before. Might look into it.

Connor had a JV game Wednesday and we won!! Varsity played last night and won too!! Last nights game was away, a 2 hour drive. ugh. Tonight is the High School Homecoming and Steve and I will work concession for the first half through half time. Our HS team is ranked 4th in the state with 5-1. The team we are playing isn't ranked with 1-5. "Should" be an easy game tonight. Tomorrow is a band parade and festival that is 3 hours away. We'll be leaving by about 9am and won't be back until about 1am. Gonna need a lot of caffeine tomorrow!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!!!

If you are a fan of the Dream on Facebook there is an article posted saying the ship should be ready to
Leave the dock and start sea trials at the end of the month.

Hello Fellow Cruisers! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
My DD, 2 sisters and I had a fantastic time last night at The Beach Boys concert in Biloxi, MS. (The tickets were my Birthday present from them.) Have always loved The Beach Boys and the concert was really great. Even had an added pleasure of seeing John Stamos!! He is a drummer for The Beach Boys. He even sang the song "Forever". The concert was at Beau Rivage Casino so we also played the slots a little. Didn't really win anything, but it was still fun.

GOOD MORNING FELLOW CRUISERS!!

Tammy, I love The Beach Boys! I am glad you had a good time!!!!

Well, the HS Varsity blew away the opposing team, 48-0!!! Pretty sure that puts us in the play offs. We have just 3 more teams to play, and they "should" be a cinch to wrap up! then we'll be traveling all over the state for playoffs, then to Wheeling, WV for the Championship game in December. (Brrrr!) Steve and I worked concession Friday night, but I won't work another Homecoming game. A) we were SO busy! B) missed the court and senior walk C) missed the streaker that ran through the away band's performance and into the arms of the police and D) missed the girl in the student section that decided it was naked night and just took her clothes off and sat there naked until the cops came to get her too! LOL!! Geeze! What is this community coming to???

The Marching Band did well on Saturday! Took First Place in parade and Second Place in field! If they keep this up, we'll be heading to Hershey, PA the first week of November for Tournament of Band Championships. I better get a few more hours in at work!

Which I am working Tuesday and Wednesday. Then Steve's Aunt and Parents are coming Friday to watch Colton play at the football game, then Saturday is the JV football game that they will watch Connor play in. I need to find time to get the house "company ready" too!

I hope this finds everyone Happy and Healthy!!

Congrats to the football team and the band. Good luck getting everything done.

That is way cool! Thanks for posting.

Happy Friday Everyone!!!
Glad it's Friday. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Nothing really planned this for weekend. Just doing things around the house.

240 days left til our Cruise!! Remember when it was more than 1 year away? Steadily counting down!

Another busy Saturday. Gymnastics in the morning, dance rehearsal in the evening. Saw 9 to 5 the Musical last night. Both kids were at sleepovers, so it worked out perfect to not need a babysitter.
No big plans for tomorrow except cleaning house and laundry.

Next weekend is gymnastics, dance, and Eagles concert.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hey everyone...long time since I checked in but it's been crazy busy here...I finally found a job after being unemployed for nearly a year and a half...right now it's only a temp job with a 4-6 month contract but I'm hoping they'll hire me as a regular employee before the contract runs out...it's with a company I had interviewed with before but didn't get the position, instead got the response of "we'll keep your resume on hand" which I normally take as "as soon as you leave we're putting your resume in a file cabinet for legal reasons, but we'll never look at it again", but shockingly the manager actually called me 3 weeks later saying she wanted me as a temp and set me up with the temp agency they use. I haven't brought up the cruise with them yet but plan to if they do make me a job offer...I'll prob have to take the time unpaid (at least partially) since I wouldn't have a whole week of vacation time earned yet, but I can deal with that.

As far as plans while on ship, my wife is trying to decide on excursions (we are completely different when it comes to vacations...when we take a vacation on land I want to cram in as much tourist stuff as possible and she complains and wants to relax, on cruises she wants to cram in a bunch of stuff and I want to relax). Right now though here's what I'm planning on doing.

Embarkation day we will be at the port at 10-10:30 or shortly there after (we only live like 15 minutes away). I know we don't board until at least 12 but I like to be there first to get checked in, people watch, see the characters, etc. Last cruise this is when we met some fellow Dis'ers including the ones that were 2 doors down and our daughters became fast friends even before they got on the ship, so hoping something similar will happen. Once boarded prob head straight for a buffet, hit the pool or explore for a little bit before the rooms are ready and the muster drill.

First day on Castaway Cay, get up early (since I'm an early riser anyway and my body won't sleep in on the first day of vacation) run the 5k, go back to the ship and spend the day there enjoying all the new stuff (Aquaduck, interactive art/treasure hunt) hoping a lot of people get off to go to the beach.

Day 2 at Nassau I only want to get off the ship long enough to go to the Tortuga store to buy my rum and rum cakes...I may have to stop at the Starbucks too for an hour or so, but just to use their internet connection since I will be taking summer classes online and the ship's connection is just to slow (and expensive) to do anything. Rest of the day will be spent on the ship.

Day 3 At sea...who knows, hopefully Palo brunch, maybe a tasting of some sort...prob the art auction

Day 4 Castaway Cay This will be the day I enjoy Castaway Cay. Will def be snorkling (I got badly sunburned on my back last time which is why I refuse to do this on the first day), hoping to do a bike ride and spend some time in a hammock.

Since I know there are a few other Texans here Go Rangers! I just bought a ticket to the third game (first home game) of the World Series....crossing my fingers they finish the Yanks quickly in NYC so i can actually go (of course now I have to figure out who's going to pick me up from the airport, let me crash with them, and get back to the airport so i don't have to rent a car or hotel room)
