Disney Dream Inaugural Cruise 1/26/2011!

Hi everyone! Just dropping in to say Hi!! We are moving to FL...and SOON!! My DH (Tim) is already there, with the dog -- he just got a job down there and started today. He is staying at his parent's new house in Winter Garden...and I am all alone here in IL until our house sells. Now I just have lots of time alone for the Dis and to plan for this cruise...LOL!!

I can't believe it's coming up so quickly! I was going to start on my Fish Extender gifts before but thought it was too soon...now I can't even work on them because my supplies are boxed up in FL, and I really hope that I get to move soon so that I can start!!

Also, Welcome to all of the recent newcomers...this is going to be a great cruise!!

Good Morning Cruisers!

We have never shipped anything to the ship, but I have known others who have. I have never heard of any problems, but that does not mean that there have never been problems. I pack my FE gifts in my suitcase, then I know I will have at least that much room to bring back other FE gifts. We have been known to find a "post and parcel" when we get off the ship to ship a box home!

DCLShel, I have shipped twice. Once for the 2005 PC cruise and then for a 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise. Both times it worked out perfectly. I don't have the address in front of me but I believe it is under the Frequently asked questions.

Hygiene99--if we could get a FE roster, with number of adults/kids/stateroom, etc, going that would be awesome!! I've never done this before, so I'm slowly learning how all about the FE.

I would like to be a part of FE when the roster is started! Would it be
acceptable to combine family rooms into one FE? If I make one pocket for my DD & SIL, & one pocket each for my 2 GK's (Jack age 2 & Lorelei age 2), even though Jack will be in our room. We are in adjoining rooms 9502 & 9504.

I'm crafty & it sounds like something I would like to do for them!?!

Silly question perhaps. Has anyone been able to view the ships spa activities - I cannot seem to get into the page to create a "Wish list".
Perhaps it is not yet up?

I was looking at that too a couple weeks ago, and I got a message about being able to book that stuff in October. I am excited to see the spa area... well the entire ship too!

I agree resales can be a good deal, if doing multiple contracts I like to keep the same use year/month.

Forgive me if you already know this, but DVC:101. When you purchase a contract - whether through resale or direct from DVC, you are purchasing a yearly allotment of points. Depending on when you go, where you choose to stay and how big your room is the points-per-night that you spend on the hotel room can vary. (By way of example, 4 nights at Old Key West in a studio before this cruise was just over 40 points; next June, we're spending three nights in a treehouse at Saratoga Springs for 123 points). Reservations are available for you to book at your home resort (the resort your contract is attached to) starting 11 months before your arrival date - all other DVC properties are bookable at 7 months before your arrival date. You can borrow points from your next use year if you need more points than you have. You can also bank (save) unused points from one year to the next.

We got ours through resale, too. You have to watch and see how many points are available on the contract - you can get some amazing deals, but you may end up with a contract that the seller has borrowed all available points from the next year. However, that information is spelled out for you so you shouldn't be surprised. we were lucky - our contract actually came with a year's worth of banked points! We paid a little more per point, but it was worth it!

If you decide to buy, the one recommendation I would make is to try and pick the resort you think you'll stay at most of the time - especially if it's going to be one of the more popular resorts like Bay Lake Towers or Beach Club. We've always been able to get in - just not always at the location we would prefer...
