We are getting so excited! I can not wait to tell our 15 year old daughter about this cruise (we are telling her on Christmas morning):cool2: Yep we are some pretty cool parents (so we like to believe) :rotfl2:

I am looking for some creative ideas for ways to tell her? We have in the past for a birthday trip created the beginnings of a scrapbook for her to open as a gift... and I thought about doing that, but I wanted to be a little more creative and not do the same thing over again.... any great ideas would be appriecated:santa:
When I surprised my DDs with a DCL trip we took scrabble tiles that spelled out Disney Cruise Line and buried it in a big jar of sand and made them work for it and they had to figure out what it spelled out! Also included was sunglasses, beach towel, new swim suit, etc. It was too funny watching them trying to figure out what it spelled and then one of them got really excited and started putting the letters together quickly while our other DD kept saying "what are you spelling". Sand was everywhere but it was worth it!

I will say that I loved the one featured in the new WDW ads that has dad opening a pizza box that has three pizzas in the shape of a mickey silhouette. Not sure how you add the cruise component, but maybe a toy boat on top?

We surprised our kids Christmas 1997 with the MV of the Magic. We had picked up DCL t-shirts at the preview kiosk on Main Street at WDW on one of our trips and all they had was size XL....but come Christmas morn they were so surprised...here is a pic....back then

OK, so my wife is watching all these great videos of the Oceaneer Lab and Club spaces, and she is wondering if there is a problem with having too many kids in the clubs? She thinks that the spaces on the video make the rooms look small and thinks that surely on a Disney cruise there are way more kids than these spaces can handle.

Are we just worrying needlessly? Do they ever 'reach capacity' and not allow any more kids in?

There can be a lot of kids at times, but NOT more than the space can handle and there are a TON of workers. There are certain cruises (like this one) which wont even have as many kids as they could have. The clubs generally don't run as a giant free for all. Most activities are structured (ie: cooking class, craft) and they are generally divided into age groups. Sometimes there will be hardly anyone in there! Believe me, I think its a non-issue! :)

We just got back from Food and Wine at WDW - had a great time - weather was beautiful! Came back to snow, cold and wind! Can't wait for another tropical vacation!!!!

in what 10 days! :rotfl:

Hi Lynn - we must have been "ships that passed in the night!" We just got back from WDW, too! Although I found the crowds were a bit much for me all weekend. However, La Hacienda had a fantastic meal and the Godiva chocolate coffee beverage was to die for! :lovestruc

I also made a cruise purchase while there - the $10 and under store had packets of Mickey temporary tattoos - Pirate themed! WooHoo!

And then to come back and see this thread (spoiler alert - contains ship horn sounds):

I'm with you...waiting very (im)patiently for my 9A GTY assignment! Hopefully since the cruise is so full, we won't have to wait much longer! :goodvibes

Alex and Carolyn, sorry we missed you - we did run into Bob and Dale grazing around World Showcase!

Me too! I keep checking every day, and still no assignment. (Yes, dear DU, I know you told me I might be at the port before I find out my stateroom number - but I'm a DISser - I still check every day!!)

And now for something completely different...

On a past cruise, we had 2-3 staterooms designated as DIS message rooms - they kept a dry erase marker board on their door and things like at-port room changes (for FEs) and DIS meet times/locations could be written on there for people to find. Do you think we should consider something like that? I wouldn't mind having a board on my door if you think it would be helpful.
