Disney Dream Inaugural Cruise 1/26/2011 Part 2

Thanks everyone for helping to make the cruise so great!

We are back to very cold weather - 4 below in Denver when we landed - 25 below last night!

Hope to see you all on another cruise soon! (like Alaska)

Thanks to everyone for a great cruise.....it was alot of fun

Had a great time with DD doing FEs found the rooms we definitely did not want to be in. I think 5 forward and aft above the clubs just a little to much boom boom!

Perfect day as always at Castaway Cay...never had a bad weather day there yet.

Spent a few days at Vero Beach afterward...weather was fantastic...and the ocean wasn't to cold.

Plane was 2 hours late into Buffalo last night but we got there.

Thanks again to all the organizers on the board for doing so much work...Scott and Lynn great BBQ glad we left before the washout!

See you on the Fantasy (I think I have to suprise the ladies with this one too)

Hello everone,

Wow! That cruise went by way too fast and we missed so much! I wish we had been able to meet more DISers. Thanks to everyone for all their efforts in organinzing and for all the amazing FE gifts!! And, thank you Ken for delivering our lanyards to our room...we never did find/meet you and I must have walked by your room 20 times a day! Better luck next time:)

My 7.5 year old was turned away too. She is short for her age. She is an excellent swimmer and even takes diving lessons. CD told us that the 48 inches is a Coast Guard requirement. She also went on to say that several of the smaller kids are getting stuck (many riding alone) and if that doesn't improve they are considering INCREASING the height requirement.

Sorry to hear about your daughter....I really do not think it is "height" as much as "weight". The smaller riders do not have enough mass to keep the float in the channel -- we saw a small child stuck as well. I wonder if they would allow the kids to ride, but require the ride with adults (ie more mass). Just a thought.

Oh I almost forgot, I found a paper napkin from cookies BBQ, look for it on
EBay
:lmao::rotfl2:

When we tried with our youngest, they did stick with the height limit. He missed it by 1 inch. Even with an adult rider they would not let him on. He was bummed, but not for long. He just going down the mickey slide.

We only tried the one time.

My son got shot down the first time, but wore crocs and stood tall the second time and got on. Once he had the height bracelet, they never checked again.

My first thought was "okay, this kid rides Rock-N-Roller Coaster, but not this????" I didn't realize there is a "getting stuck" issue.

I agree with chip&dale&fun, I think the child should be able to go on with an adult in order to solve the problem.

Anyway.....thank you all so much! FE is a real highlight on our cruises for our children (okay....and myself)! :rotfl:

I have to apologize to the following people:

I could not find you and I assume you got moved to deck 12. I SHOULD HAVE went to the desk and told them that they HAD to figure out who you all were and deliver them. In Scott's case, I still am carrying around an FE gift from the Baltic Sea as well. Oh well, at this rate I'll probably dump a whole lot of them on your door at once on one of these cruises. It will have to include its own FE.

Also...A big thank you to Ken and all of the people that made the lanyards possible!:thumbsup2

Yes that was us...learned that they finally pulled the plug on him and he was refused drinks the rest of the cruise....:yay:

Legalbriefs is Ron's screen name..

Platinum Cindy! :rotfl: :thumbsup2

i will never wear yellow! :rotfl:

we upgraded to cat v the day before when my TA called me. should have waited since some were available at the port for less. I did post room number here, but knew most people were gone. We included our new number in our gift and put a note by our old door--but the new person took it down.

It was hard giving out our gifts and seeing all the things we didn't get. with 11 and 12 if things don't change it might not be worth doing FEs.

I greatly appreciated those who did find us.
Everyone talking abbout Alaska sure makes it tempting.
Hope everyone had as much fun as we did. sorry we didn't get to meet more people.

If you had found us, you would have found Scott h.

People either left gifts or read the note on our door on how to find Him.

Well hello there fellow MVers!:goodvibes

Finally been able to get back online today after battling with the jetlag since Monday mornings early arrival back in the UK, and the fact my inernet connection was down:scared1:

But now I am here I just want to say a BIG thankyou firstly to Ken(and all the fellow contributors) for the wonderful lanyards we recieved at the deck party, and for the badges etc....Unfortunately I never did recieve a copy of the mini navigator or the aqua pass - I am sorry I wasn't able to hunt the lovely people down who had gone to all the effort to make these for us. It was great just to recieve smiles from fellow DISers as we walked aorund the ship as lanyards were spotted!

Sail away party was fab with the bubbles and the streamers(we weren't expecting these extras and what with the champagne glasses and cameras I just didn;t have enough hands:rotfl:)

Now I want to say a special thankyou to some lovely people(just a few who's names are currently sitting in a yet to be unpacked bag so sorry for not name dropping right now, but I hope you know who you are!) for a couple of things that were left in my fish/seahorse extender(room 6516). We were not signed up for the FE as I joined the board very late so these little things came completely unexpected. We recieved a puzzle/trivia booklet, a ceramic pirates of the Caribbean hanger and an extra magnet appeared on the door - I hope this was a gift and not somehting that had been taken from another door and left on ours. The generosity of these few folk brought a huge smile to my face and so makes me want to take part in a future FE.

So now I am home, have downloaded 700+ of the 1000+ pictures and almost got the jetlag under control I am ready to start my TR, and looking forward to reading others.:yay:

It was so hard to sit in work today and realise that I would have been in Nassau a week ago today - and I miss it despite the overcast chill to the day - just being on that beautiful ship made all the difference.

Roll on Alaska and the beauty that is the Wonder:woohoo:

We enjoyed ourselves and meeting our new and old friends. I put the magnet on your door and yes, it was just for you. I didn't take it from anyone else. I always bring extra gifts. This way, we can give a few extra smiles on the ship.

Just wanted to say we had a great time. Wish we were able to meet more fellow Disers, but time was so short. Thank you everyone for the wonderful FE gifts. My son and I really enjoyed going back to the room to see what was next. Thank goodness I brought and extra suitcase with us. There were so many goodies and memories to bring home. It was nice admiring everyone's doors and the Fish Extenders. Thank you for everyones hard work to make our cruise such a fun experience. The FE gifts, lanyards, fast passes, bubble gun, streamers and room tour. :dance3:

I hope to see guys on future cruises!!

Thanks Everyone.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LspdBgIpD4

Now, who is going to Alaska? in 80 something days!
:surfweb::lmao:

We are!!! :goodvibes

A Big Thanks to Everyone for your hard work in making this cruise off the charts... this thread... FEs... Room Tour (simply amazing!)... Navigators... Lanyards... PJ Breakfast...

The FE Gifts were absolutely amazing... AMAZING! Creativity was at an all time HIGH! THANK-YOU ONE AND ALL!

We loved the ship. It was definitely too large to experience in just 4 days.

We were embarassed by the greed some folks showed with merchandise, with the toasting glasses, and with standing in line at the port, but the joys of celebrating this voyage with friends quickly outweighed all of the disappointments.

Scott and Lynn... The BBQ was a great kick-off to the cruise, and quite an undertaking. Thank-you for doing this. And thsnks to our fruends for getting us there and bringing us home!!!

Well thank you so much, you certainly made me smile and I do every day when I look at it stuck on the fridge here at home!:)

I hope to be able to do the same for others on future cruises - its the little touches like that that make things special!

Thanks to all the FE gifts, the lanyard, mini navigators and all the special people!!! I am sorry we didnt get to meet more of you and get involved with the planned activities. We were so busy with my 6 yr old there wasnt enough time to do and see half the stuff we wanted. I never even got down to the district to see what that looks like.

The one thing I was a little bothered by was at the sail away celebration, I saw the group with the bubbles and streamers and I noticed the disboard lanyards, however, not having my mini navigator with me I was not sure if it was a disboard meeting. So I walked over and asked a woman, who was wearing a disboard lanyard if this was a disboard meeting place for sail away and could i have a bubble gun. She very rudely told me "NO this stuff is from my friend mike". So I just walked away. :sad2:

All in all the cruise was great. The dream is absolutely beautiful!!! Our inside state room I loved!!! I did not feel the movement of the ship AT ALL!!!! Loved all the special gifts!!!! It was great seeing old friends from the magic and the wonder!! The shows were spectacular!!! I LOVED seeing tangled in 3d in the buena vista theater. Got everything on our RSP list! The dueling horns from the dream and magic were priceless!!! Cant wait to go back!!!!!

The downs side to our cruise was the crazies in the stores grabbing up everything before anyone else could get in there. Seriously, who wants to waste time on your trip standing in line for hours to buy stuff. My daughter became friends with a young man who worked in one of the stores and when we got home she started chatting with him on FB. He said he had never encountered so many rude people in his life!! Thats really sad!!!!
My dd was to short to go on the aquaduck and cried her eyes out over it. We had some issues with our wait staff, being new, they were VERY slow and it took forever to get our dinner. I could never figure out why at every meal, even if we were seated first, the table next to us with six adults ALWAYS got served their meal before a child!!!

With the good and the bad, I would have do it again in a heartbeat!!
