Disney Dream Inaugural Cruise 1/26/2011 Part 2

Just got this info from Dreams Unlimited Travel about the road to the port closing,

Hello,

Thank you for choosing Dreams Unlimited Travel!

For those of you driving to the port, we have been advised that a portion of the highway leading to Port Canaveral has been closed due to an accident. You will find more information concerning this story by visiting http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/disney-...ions_of_highway_leading_to_Port_Canaveral.htm on the DIS website. There is a suggested alternate route to the port in that story. It appears the closure could be for as long as 25 days.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Right it's 11.30pm here and I'm signing off for our final night in our own bed for a while!

We go to the airport tomorrow lunchtime and fly on Monday but I don't think I'll have internet access at the airport ... taking my IPhone but not my laptop.

Safe driving/flying to everyone .. see you on Tuesday at the BBQ.

Thanks to everyone for their hard work.

TJBaggott ... if I remember my tape measure, I'll try to measure things for you!:)

Night night all, sleep tight and have sweet DREAMS!!:thumbsup2

I also saw on a different site that you could still take 528, just when you got the SR-3, you'd have to take the offramp, drive thru the intersection and back onto 528 just past the overpass that was damaged. So it sounds like there are a few different options for those of us driving to the dock.

Ok, How do you make a Grass Skirt??????
:lmao: If you dont know this, The class was for not!

:rotfl2:

Bob Picture please. :wizard:

If you do, look for the open network while the ship is docked in Nassau.
some get it some don't.
;)

Would that be Gin Grenadine Pineapple Juce and Tripple Sec?
How many would you like:rotfl2:

A Florida Department of Transportation spokesman said both spans of the overpass must be replaced, as will all supporting columns on the east side of the bridge. FDOT is expected to meet with contractors today to solicit bids and to determine the cost of the repair and how long it will take.

Officials expect the repair to be a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week project. While the repairs are happening, the eastbound lanes of the BeachLine Expressway on the overpass are likely to remain shut down. Drivers heading east will need to get off at North Courtenay Parkway and then immediately get back on.

Traffic on North Courtenay Parkway will not be permitted to cross under the overpass, the FHP said.

Authorities said the debris and damage left from the explosion needed a massive clean-up effort to clear the roads crucial to travelers in and out of Brevard County.
"What we've been able to do with traffic now is to let traffic travel the length of the Beachline, except they are exiting off around the Courtney Parkway exit. They'll have to exit off and then be able to get back on," said FHP's Sgt. Kim Montes.
Inspectors from the Department of Transportation said traffic is not allowed on the bridge or under it because it is not structurally sound and will take roughly 30 to 35 days to re-construct. DOT officials said it will most likely be a 24/7 project.
Steve Olson, of the Florida DOT, said bids to rebuild the bridge are opening on Sunday. He said a winning bidder will be selected, and work will begin as soon as possible after that.
S.R. 3 will be closed under the bridge for the duration. Detours will be in place to move northbound and southbound traffic around the scene.
The Beachline mainline will use the off-ramps and on-ramps as through lanes, and law enforcement will assist with traffic control.
The westbound Beachline, officials said, should reopen early tomorrow.

What I found with a quick search,

Just getting caught up on the boards after spending the day in the parks and then shopping. It seems Disney has removed the Cruise Line desk from the lobby of Pop Century...or maybe they moved it and I didn't see it...but Scott, the above information is what they were reporting on the news, that the drivers on the 528 (Beachline) will use the on and off ramps around the bridge site....they did mention to give you some extra time to get to the port.

Off to continue checking all the new posts on the thread

Safe Travels to those who are on their way to FL. It is a little cold here tonight, our morning temps are supposed to be 37. BRRRRR. Where is my warm FL weather????

I started having my nightmares where I miss the ship!:scared1: UGH!! Cant wait to be on the DREAM!!!

Speaking of nightmares, I was laminating my FE gifts and one paper got jammed in the laminater. I had to take the laminater apart to get the jammed paper out. 2 days and 15 screws later, I managed to fix it. Now to finish the FE gifts.

See everyone in a few days.

Dena- It sounds like you have my luck with electronics. :rotfl: glad to hear you got it fixed and how awesome that you fixed it yourself :goodvibes

Wow we just got in a little while ago and are at the Hyatt near Universal.
Who turned the heat off in this town?:headache:
Well it beats the -7 degrees (thats without the wind chill factor folks) I left behind in Columbus, Ohio earlier today.
See everyone at the BBQ and onboard the ship
Lets get this party started:woohoo:

Your class time was well spent, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 or you are good with google lol:rotfl2::rotfl2: either way well done.

Solid 6.5 hours of sleep and I am ready to go.

Ok we made it to OKW , got bumped up to first on the flight down, Lynn decided I need some orange scent on my pants and shirt. Got bags got car upgraded, to OKW and room ready, shopped unpacked cooked dinner, and off to MK, electric parade, making memories and wishes, on Main street I counted 22 tour group flags as we were leaving.

OKW BBQ location will be Turtle Pond , the area is covered , yeah, we will start to set up about 3:15 ish, we are just across the way in 4423 , see ya there , local weather is calling for 60% chance of rain, and NWS is calling for 40% , so plan accordingly, but it will be warmer

OKW room is one of the remodeled rooms and I really like what has been done. Wood floor, nice table, bed room night stands and head boards all nice , drawer pulls and kitchen cabinet pulls are well done. Kitchen counter tops granite are nice, easier to clean compared to the tile. Coffee pot is old and has to finish brewing before you can grab a cup.

Not sure which park to hit this morn.

My route to the port will be, 528 beach line to 95 south to 520, over to the avenue known as A1A, then up to Avis to drop car, I think the on off at the bridge will be a slow bottleneck.

New gamin Nuvi rocks with maps and traffic alerts, let's one know about closed roads, yes it knew about the bridge being closed, and traffic light cams, kewl.

Travel safe, and see ya soon.

I saw that it's cold down there, but better than here. My son said there is too much to do to worry about sun time, but I had hoped to get a little time in reading on deck. Now not so sure. So is it too cold to bother to bring any shorts?
Hope everyone there already is having fun-still not packed. I guess i better get the suitcases out today.

Leaving for the airport in 2 hours-- Staying at Bay Lake Towers -- Looking forward to meeting everyone at the OKW Picnic.
Signing off for now -- Safe travels for everyone!
Bon Voyage!!!

We too arrived yesterday afternoon. Walked from BWV to World Showcase for dinner in Italy. It's pretty nippy on the ears, but supposed to warm up tomorrow. Caught Illuminations - I waited 30 mins to see if they'd flare off the Inferno Barge after the show, but it was to cold to be just hanging around in the beer garden of the pub lol

Supposed to hit EPCOT today, but everyone (except me) is sleeping still.

At home, headed to bed..last sleep in my bed!! One last shift and I am off to WDW. Who else is at BWV?

First of all, a BIG THANKS to all for making this such an extra special cruise... and it hasn't even started!

Looking forward to putting names to faces at the bar-b-que. Hard to believe we sail in 3 days.:cheer

Just got a note from our travel agent...he and his wife have the Roy Disney Suite and they are hosting receptions for their clients. My wife is super excited to be able to see it!

What time does check in Open? Anyone?

Someone was talking about doing a scrapbook of the cruise, I love scrapbooking and I found this great scrapbooking website that is FREE and you add friends to join in and EVERYONE can add and create pages in the scrapbook! We do it for our group vacations all the time! Easy to use and fun!
